2
Stardust (2007,  PG-13)
Stardust
Thank the heavens Claire Danes is slowly being seen again in movies! FANTASTIC film.
3
Superbad (2007,  R)
Superbad
WOW, funniest movie in 2007, by far. Had me rolling!
4
28 Weeks Later... (2007,  R)
28 Weeks Later...
Started off pretty interesting at the beginning but fails to keep my interest.
5
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor) (2007,  R)
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)
Just as enjoyable as Night Watch. Can't wait for the final installment, but disappointed that Hollywood is taking it over.
6
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006,  R)
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
Not my favorite Tykwer film, but still a wonderful watch.
7
Blades of Glory (2007,  PG-13)
8
Evan Almighty (2007,  PG)
9
Ocean's Thirteen (2007,  PG-13)
Ocean's Thirteen
Cleverly written once again. Much better then the second film. Al Pacino showed his talent and didn't overshadow the rest of the cast. After the final scene, I'm betting on a 14.
10
Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007,  PG-13)
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
A perfect continuation of the first film. Cate Blanchett is one of the best in her line of work.
11
Bowfinger (1999,  PG-13)
12
Pathfinder (2007,  R)
13
The Bourne Ultimatum (2007,  PG-13)
14
Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
15
The Simpsons Movie (2007,  PG-13)
The Simpsons Movie
Simpsons + 1hour40mins = Why not!? They plugged in as many characters as they could and the Tom Hanks cameo was pretty funny. If you are a fan of the simpsons, I don't need to tell you to see this film.
16
Ratatouille (2007,  G)
Ratatouille
Pixar, Disney, whatever it was, the formula worked, even the typical overexaggeration of French accents.
17
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
As most would when they are fans of a book, they have high expectations with the film. Another addition to the series that I can't complain about. So much action compared to a few of the past installements and all around touch base well with novel.
18
Sunshine (2007,  R)
Sunshine
Great and refreshing storyline, if you void all scientific facts. For an indy flick, phenomenal cinemotagraphy! The film had really captivating visual effects. I was only disappointed with the twist towards the end of the film; I was hoping they'd stick with the main plot, but I eventually grew use to it by the finale.
19
Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (Van Wilder 2) (2006,  R)
Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (Van Wilder 2)
Not bad for a sequel in the new National Lampoon days, but makes me miss the classics much more.
20
The Fountain (2006,  PG-13)
The Fountain
Wouldn't recommend The Fountain to many people because it, throughout, is overly artsy and can take away attention from the actual storyline. If you have the patience and time to enjoy this film, rent it, otherwise, put it on the bottom of your Netflix queue. I liked it for its blatant symbolism for man searching for the impossible and his realization that... well, nevermind, if you read this far, watch it yourself.
21
Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
Loved it. Good ole cheesy 80s cartoon has new visage thanks to CGI. Everything fit the formula in this movie.
22
Knocked Up (2007,  R)
Knocked Up
Great laughs, great acting, not a lot of sappy moments that are usually in romantic comedies. Worth the 7 bucks at the theatre.
23
American Dreamz (2006,  PG-13)
American Dreamz
Surprisingly funny, with a lot of cracks at American pop culture. Quaid and Defoe are great mocking the current government situation.
24
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006,  R)
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
A fun watch, one I'd definitely see again.
25
Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower) (2006,  R)
Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower)
Stars only awarded for the artistry and set work for the film, other then that, nothing to praise about. My least favorite Zhang movie so far.
26
The Good Shepherd (2006,  R)
The Good Shepherd
So long, so long. Parts of the movie I was confused where the story was going and some parts I didn't understand the relevancy. Worth the watch if you have 3 hours and the patience.
27
La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children) (1995,  R)
La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children)
Seeing City of Lost Children shows how Jeunet has completely mastered his style as a director/artist, telling stories through captivating scenery and characters, just as in Amelie and Delicatessen.
28
Spider-Man 3 (2007,  PG-13)
29
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) (2004,  PG-13)
30
Volver (2006,  R)
31
Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles (2006,  PG)
Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles
I didn't think this movie would be as good as it was. Really a fantastic story of a man trying to tie up his life and family that he was distant with for too long.
32
The History Boys (2006,  R)
The History Boys
Brillant, obvious why they made a movie from the highly successful play. Goes to show the audience how even the most unsuspecting person can play a big role in another's life.
33
Night at the Museum (2006,  PG)
34
The Celestine Prophecy (2006,  PG)
The Celestine Prophecy
I think this had to be a Sci-Fi channel production the way it looked. The phrase, the book is always better, is true in this case.
35
Delicatessen (1991,  R)
36
The Return (Vozvrashcheniye) (2003,  Unrated)
37
Turistas (Paradise Lost) (2006,  R)
Turistas (Paradise Lost)
Better then Hostel, like a half a star better...........
38
Children of Men (2006,  R)
39
The Grudge 2 (2006,  PG-13)
The Grudge 2
Awful... has three stories going at once, all leading nowhere.
40
Accepted (2006,  PG-13)
Accepted
Bored on a Sunday afternoon and seen everything on the shelves at Blockbuster??? Then by all means, rent it.
41
You, Me and Dupree (2006,  PG-13)
42
Rockers (1978,  G)
Rockers
Wow, potheads unite, this is your movie. Kidding, genius display of music through story, even though I'm not a huge fan of the musical genre.
43
Empire of the Wolves (2005,  R)
Empire of the Wolves
Honestly, the French should stick to dramas or comedies. This movie seemed like it was trying too hard to be a Hollywood action flick, but still not bad enough for me to ask for my 2 hours back.
44
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006,  PG-13)
45
The Illusionist (2006,  PG-13)
46
Babel (2006,  R)
47
A Good Year (2006,  PG-13)
48
300 (2007,  R)
49
Beerfest (2006,  R)
50
Dead Man's Shoes (2006,  Unrated)
Dead Man's Shoes
A British-style version of Kill Bill, without the martial arts, but revenge. Give this movie a try!
51
Ti kniver i hjertet (Cross My Heart and Hope to Die) (1994,  Unrated)
Ti kniver i hjertet (Cross My Heart and Hope to Die)
I like how the character tries to put his family first while ignoring the flaws of mother and misfortunes of his father. Would like to see a sequel showing how messed up this kid is at the age of 20, but I won't hold my breathe for it's release.
52
The Devil Wears Prada (2006,  PG-13)
53
Over the Hedge (2006,  PG)
Over the Hedge
Funny, but doesn't touch Madagasgar!
54
The Last Kiss (2006,  R)
The Last Kiss
With the success of Garden State, I was really looking forward to seeing Braff's new film. A cliche look at young adults being welcomed to the world of responsiblility and honesty. Though not as buzz-worthy, still worth the watch.
55
For Your Consideration (2006,  PG-13)
For Your Consideration
Had some funny moments, but pretty much a snooze.
56
Stranger Than Fiction (2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
Quite a refreshing and unique story that keeps you into the film. Ferrell and Thompson pull off nervous wrecks very well and keep the dry humor coming.
57
The Night Listener (2006,  R)
The Night Listener
I hate characters that just Have to follow a story, or figure out the truth, when it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Its annoying, which is what happens here, but both actors do a wonderful job. The script was just not right for them.
58
The Number 23 (2007,  R)
The Number 23
This movie had an interesting and unique storyline that only worked in the previews. While Jim Carrey always does a crediable job, it doesn't save this film of its boredom. Pretty much the first 20 minutes of the film are continuely stretched for the entire movie, drawing many yawns.
59
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
The twist was very original along with the storyline. Refreshing to watch.
60
Reno 911!: Miami (2007,  R)
Reno 911!: Miami
I love the series, I loved the film.
61
La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep) (2006,  R)
La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep)
Gondry was a perfect choice to direct this movie. His own mind seems to process just as Stephane's, the title character. A fun and whimsical journey through the unconscious.
62
13 Tzameti (2005,  Unrated)
13 Tzameti
If you can sit through the poor acting in the beginning of the movie, you'll enjoy the flow of tension throughout the second half. Pretty insane when you watch the dvd's special features.
63
Man of the Year (2006,  PG-13)
Man of the Year
With the political mess in the media today, a good light-hearted film helps to only put aside the true-life headache for a few hours .
64
The Butcher Boy (1998,  R)
The Butcher Boy
Hadn't seen this movie in almost a decade so I rerented it because I remember it being pretty intense. And apparently, I hadn't forgotten anything. I recommend this movie solely based on my favorite line; spoken by the Virgin Mary, played by the one and only Sinead O'Conner, "Ah, Francie, for fuck sake."
65
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
Congrats, Scorsese, on the Oscar.
66
Running With Scissors (2006,  R)
Running With Scissors
Reminds me of American Beautry meets Garden State, but bringing so much of its own to the table. Reading the synopsis again makes me laugh just thinking about how many directions this movie went. Annette Bening is fantastic and somewhat scary in her bipolar role.
67
Idiocracy (2006,  R)
Idiocracy
You win some, and you lose some... this is definitely not a winner.
68
Little Miss Sunshine (2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
A brilliantly refreshing dry comedy that I haven't seen come from American soil in what seems ages.
69
L'Enfant (The Child) (2006,  R)
L'Enfant (The Child)
Clean and honest movie that is just unfortunately boring.
70
The Hole (2001,  R)
The Hole
Just bad. Not going to waste webspace explaining.
71
District B13 (Banlieue 13) (2006,  R)
District B13 (Banlieue 13)
If you know the Yamakazi groups or if you can remember those shoe advertisements (addidas or nike) a few years back where people were jumping down the alleyway of buildings and over rooftops, this seems like the same guys in those ads . Just a couple pretty cool action sequences make this movie watchable. Since Luc Besson puts his name on this, I guess got my hopes up a little more. It is funny seeing how much Taxi star, Samy Naceri's, brother Bibi acts and looks so much like his sibling.
72
Invincible (2006,  PG)
Invincible
Can't say too much about this one since I had drank a few before watching. Through I paid attention for the most part of it, I will say the ending was cut short. Besides that, Mark Walhberg has come a long way since his rapping days and gets better as an actor in each movie I see him.
73
Smokin' Aces (2007,  R)
Smokin' Aces
If you go in wanting to see some action and shootouts. you'll be overly satisfied. Story runs a bit fast at the beginning and end, so be sure to pay attention with the names. The twist was a little disappointing as well as pretty unrealistic. But, in all, it was a theatre ticket purchase well spent.
74
The Guardian (2006,  PG-13)
The Guardian
Good to see Kevin Costner coming back to the big screen. Simply told story line that makes for a decent film.
75
Saw III (2006,  R)
Saw III
Continues the bloodshed that the series is well known for. This installment recaps more of what happened in the prior films while bringing in just a few new faces to the story which slows the pace down. All-in-all, less 'jumping out of your seat' surprises but far more gore and spine twitching scenes.
76
Hard Candy (2006,  R)
Hard Candy
An over stretched plot and mindnumbing script overshadow an above par perfomance from the two actors. A little less random pop culture references would've helped this movie out as well.
77
Apocalypto (2006,  R)
Apocalypto
Wonderful cinematography with a simple yet fantastic storyline. while gibson takes away a lot of dialogue, most likely to suit americans dislike for subtitles, the actors speak through palpable emotions to tell a wonderful tale of love, determination, and destiny.
