Stand by Me (1986, R)
Great film that I really can't get enough of. The cast is brilliant and the plot is even better. Love to see River Pheonix when he was younger. He really was a fantastic actor. Such a shame that he died so young and in such a horrific way. Kiefer Sutherland does a great job as well even though he only gets a small role. John Cusack has to be mentioned even though you only see him in about one scene. Great kids film that can be enjoyed by all ages. |

Little Nikita (1988, PG)
Ok, so the film wasn't really all that great. The plot was a little far-fatched and weak in parts but River Pheonix's performance made up for all that. Talent just oozes from him. Even in a crap film like this it is obvious how talented he is. Such a shame that we never got to see him develop as an actor. He really did have a great career ahead of him. I gave the film one star on his performance alone. I would really only recommend this for fans of River, the film itself was rubbish. |

Wasn't really expecting to be quite as impressed with this film as I was. I don't quite know why. I mean you just have to look at the cast to make a fair guess about how good it's going to be. But I really hadn't heard much about it and my only interest in the whole thing was that River Phoenix was in it. |

The Thing Called Love (1993, PG-13)
Really love this film. I think it was nearly one of River Pheonix's last performances and a stunning one at that. As usual he was brilliant. RIP. Samantha Mathis does a great job as does Sandra Bullock. Dermot Mulroney gives a solid performance. The plot is great and really enjoyable. A must see for everyone. |
