I find most of the Rocky movies fairly forgettable but having returned to finish the series after such a long time... this one holds its own pretty well. It stays true to the character's and ties up all the loose ends in a way the fifth one didn't. Some truly inspiring dialogue and great direction from Stallone which was personally surprising. He gives a really strong charismatic performance despite his age. The movie centres around the fact wife Adriana has died and their son doesn't have time for him anymore. Then when statistics show that Rocky could have still beaten the current champ if in his prime he goes to show that he can still compete and get his life and self respect back on track in true Rocky formula style. Also respect the way the movie doesn't go all "hollywood" ending and acts as a serious homage to the characters and story that were initially created. Overall pretty good with a great feel good factor at the end. |
