The Thing
Scared me when i was young. One of Carpenter's best.
2
The Exorcist (1973,  R)
The Exorcist
I loved scaring my friends with this when we were young. A psychological horror classic.
3
[Rec] (2007,  R)
[Rec]
Probably the best of the first person shooters I've seen. The creepiest horror since 'Descent'.
4
The Descent (2006,  R)
The Descent
Good scares. Great Indie slasher. Don't watch any trailers or read too much on it. Just go see it.
5
Shutter (They Are Around Us) (2004,  R)
Shutter (They Are Around Us)
Creepy thriller. Very well crafted and executed. Will keep you guessing until the end.
6
Poltergeist (1982,  PG)
7
Psycho (1960,  R)
Psycho
My favorite Hitchcock so far. You can still see it's influence today. I would have ranked this a perfect score if I'd seen it when it first came out.
8
Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) (2003,  R)
Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters)
Creepy, but confusing little horror/thriller. Definately needs multiple viewings.
9
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984,  R)
10
Halloween (1978,  R)
11
28 Days Later (2003,  R)
28 Days Later
Creepy. I like creepy movies, don't you?
12
Saw (2004,  R)
Saw
A refreshing low budget take on the thriller genre. Unfortunately watered down by many sequels.
13
High Tension (Switchblade Romance) (2004,  R)
High Tension (Switchblade Romance)
Watching it for the first time definitely had me on the edge of my seat. Weird ending, but still a fun ride.
14
Eraserhead (1977,  Unrated)
Eraserhead
Weird, really weird.
15
The Fly (1986,  R)
The Fly
One of my favs from the 80's. Jeff Goldblum gives the performance of his career.
16
The Mist (2007,  R)
The Mist
This one is a real treat. Frank Darabont does a great job developing characters in this gem of a horror/thriller/drama. One of the funnest movies I've seen in a while and the ending is well worth it.
17
Seven (Se7en) (1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
Very interesting mystery/thriller with a pretty sweet ending.
18
Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) (2008,  R)
Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in)
Some fantastic camera work and sound design really help sell this gem of a film. A masterpiece for the vampire genre that had me saying 'wow, that was incredible' many times while viewing. I strongly recommend this one,

The Changeling (1980,  R)
20
The Sixth Sense (1999,  PG-13)
The Sixth Sense
Nice little ghost tale that features great performances. Don't read anything about it. Just see it for yourself.
21
The Shining (1980,  R)
The Shining
Brilliant film making by Kubrick and probaly one of the first times the steady-cam technique was used. Jack's over the top performance and Duvall's miscasting almost ruin it for me though.
22
Jaws (1975,  PG)
Jaws
The first 'summer blockbuster' film. This classic made swimming at the beach unpopular for years after it's release.
23
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978,  PG)
24
Audition (Ôdishon) (1999,  R)
25
Dawn of the Dead (2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
This very good remake has plenty of on camera gore and laughs.
26
The Omen (1976,  R)
The Omen
This is quite creepy and the pacing is pretty quick. I haven't seen the re-make, nor do I plan to.
27
Night of the Living Dead (1968,  Unrated)
Night of the Living Dead
The godfather of zombie films. Ahead of it's time and good social commentary. Killer ending too.
28
An American Werewolf in London (1981,  R)
An American Werewolf in London
Rick Baker won an *Oscar for his make up and deservedly so. This boasts of of the greatest werewolf transformations ever put to film.
29
The Hitcher (1986,  R)
The Hitcher
Rutger Hauer is great in this. Freaked me out when I was young.
30
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962,  Unrated)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
A psychological mindfuck of a movie that's hard to pigeonhole in a genre. This film is heavily carried by the performance of the two leads. Bette Davis is a revelation in this.
31
Eyes Without a Face (1962,  Unrated)
Eyes Without a Face
Very strange and creepy. Still holds up with age.
32
The Evil Dead (1981,  NC-17)
The Evil Dead
See it and see it now!
33
Dog Soldiers (2002,  R)
Dog Soldiers
Fun little stop and go roller coaster ride.
34
Rosemary's Baby (1968,  R)
Rosemary's Baby
Very slow and it dosn't really hold up to today's standards, but still worth a viewing.
35
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986,  NC-17)
36
Frailty (2002,  R)
Frailty
Awesome little horror/thriller. Saw it for the fourth time again tonight and it was still effective.
37
Martin (1977,  R)
Martin
Original vampire movie. Very cool opening sequence.
38
Trick 'r Treat (2008,  R)
Trick 'r Treat
Proly the best anthology horror I've seen. I can't believe the studio shelved this for 2 years before dumping it to DVD. This is better than most modern horror films that come out. Nicely done.
