My Sister's Keeper (2009,  PG-13)
My Sister's Keeper
This movie had a beautiful story thanks to author Jodi Picoult, however I don't think the script was written quite as well. The movie was sluggish and although highly emotive, the audience will disengage from it at time due to its slow momentum and sometimes uneventful plot. The actors involved where absolutely brilliant with Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin displaying some of their best work to date. It was indeed the cast that prevented the film from being a complete failure. It was a shame to see this story executed so poorly by both the scriptwriters and the director when this could easily have been one of the best and most powerful films of our time.

The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce (2008,  Unrated)
The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce
Exceptionally filmed and superbly performed, this film is dark and full of despair. A haunting reality that will surprisingly bring forth feelings of compassion and retribution in a tale that is frighteningly sinister in nature.
3
Trick 'r Treat (2008,  R)
Trick 'r Treat
Although the film was very well made and the both Michael Dougherty and Glen MacPherson did a fantastic job of filming this movie, the story was weak and messy. I think it would have been a much better film if Michael Dougherty had concentrated on developing a stronger single story rather than several underwritten stories. I don't think the movie deserves the hype it has been receiving and was left disappointed.

The Last House on the Left (2009,  R)
The Last House on the Left
This is one brutally sadistic movie. It will shock you to your core at times and then leave you gasping. It is truly horrific, scaring you not with special effects but with realistic yet twisted human behaviour. This movie is not for the light hearted, but will etch itself forever in your mind.

Observe and Report (2009,  R)
Observe and Report
This was an incredibly stupid movie, yet for some strange reason, I couldn't help but like it at times, I cant stress enough that it was simply at times! It certainly had its moments but I think it was far to over the top and all the cast members were pretty shocking. There's a reason this movie did badly, and its a movie you needn't waste your time seeing.
6
New In Town (2009,  PG)
New In Town
I was far from impressed with this movie. The story was unoriginal, the acting mediocre and the majority of this film was slow and uninteresting. Making this movie, in my opinion, was a waste of time and money.
7
Inkheart (2009,  PG)
Inkheart
This movie is a fantastic and magical journey. It is full of adventure and excitement. Its dramatic and full of intrigue. More surprisingly, this movie has wonderful story and character development. This is one of those great family films that only comes along once in a blue moon. Paul Bettany also deserves a special mention here for his outstanding performance in his role.
8
Gran Torino (2009,  R)
Gran Torino
A superbly written story and dramatically performed. This movie, although a little slow, will truly engage its audience as they connect with each of the characters. This movie is simplistic brilliance.
9
Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (2009,  Unrated)
Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder
Awesome! A great futurama movie, in the typical style of the tv show and the usual social commentary. Great Stuff!
10
Last Chance Harvey (2009,  PG-13)
Last Chance Harvey
A very sweet romance. This is the type of movie you can take your mother and even your grandmother to see. Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson are fantastic as always. The movie is a little slow but all in all is still enjoyable.
11
Bottle Shock (2008,  PG-13)
Bottle Shock
Very interesting movie, a great story and fantastic acting by all the cast. The movie was a little slow and I cant say Ill be rushing to see it again, but it was rather enjoyable for a one time movie.
12
Frost/Nixon (2008,  R)
Frost/Nixon
A superb high tension drama. This movie has an amazing storyline. Directed incredibly well by the talented Ron Howard and fantastically performed by Michael Sheen and Frank Langella. The script was missing the satirical humour that the stage play had which was a bit of a shame as this left the story a little dry in some stages but over all this is a great political drama.
13
Doubt (2008,  PG-13)
Doubt
Very disappointing. It had a great basis for a storyline and a fantastic cast but the movie was very slow and rather boring. Its a shame really, it could have been so much more.
14
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008,  PG-13)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
I rather enjoyed this movie and thought that Keanu Reeves and Jaden Smith were fantastic. I was disappointed howeverwith the ending and felt that it was too open and didn't feel like it had been wrapped up properly.
15
City of Ember (2008,  PG)
City of Ember
This is a great movie for young young teens. Full of adventure and mystery and a really good storyline too. Im sure the kids will love this movie as it takes them through a magnificent journey.
16
Australia (2008,  PG-13)
Australia
Ok, the verdict...the movie had a great storyline but it was quite slow and probably shouldn't have gone as long as it did. Hugh Jackman was awesome as was 'Brandon Walters as Nullah. Nicole Kidman was flat nothing out of the ordinary there. The beginning was a bit too lyrical for my liking for this sort of feature. All in all it is an watchable film
17
WALL-E (2008,  G)
WALL-E
I personally don't know why people think this movie is so great. Granted the robots are very cute but the dim story and snails pace plot were much to be desired. It is worth watching as it is a pretty unique film, but this certainly isn't one of Disney's finest.
18
My Best Friend's Girl (2008,  R)
My Best Friend's Girl
This was a really crappy and cliche romantic comedy. There was nothing great about this film and the acting was pretty terrible too. dont waste your time on this one.
19
Never Back Down (2008,  PG-13)
Never Back Down
Not just another fight movie, this film has drama and heart, morals and a great back story. The acting was amazing as was the script. There is never a dull moment in this movie. A film that is sure to be enjoyed by fans of the fight genre and even by some of you who wouldn't ordinarily watch a movie like this.
20
Appaloosa (2008,  R)
Appaloosa
After watching this movie, I think Ed Harris needs to stick to acting - not that he was particurlay brilliant in this moive, but then again neither was Renee Zellweger. Viggo Mortensen definately stole the show in that department. The movie was pretty boring and really slow. Didnt much care fot this film at all.
