The Evil Dead (1981,  NC-17)
The Evil Dead
Who would have thought that during the 80s a bunch of kids with no money would make one of the greatest horror movies ever.
2
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954,  G)
3
The Nightmare Before Christmas (2008,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Great movie, too bad it's fans can sometimes be almost as annoying as star wars nerds.
4
Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002,  R)
5
Beetle Juice (Beetlejuice) (1988,  PG)
6
Mr. Brooks (2007,  R)
7
The Ring (2002,  PG-13)
8
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie(Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti)(Don't Open the Window) (1974,  R)
9
Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981,  R)
10
The War of the Worlds (1953,  G)
The War of the Worlds
Ever wonder if Spielberg watches this constantly in an attempt to figure out where he went wrong. Considering it's over 50 years old this classic holds up astonishingly well.
11
Phantasm (1979,  R)
12
Hatchet (2006,  R)
Hatchet
More fun than " a bag of dicks", oh how i miss the 80s sometimes.
13
The Amityville Horror (1979,  R)
14
The Wolf Man (1941,  Unrated)
15
Rosemary's Baby (1968,  R)
16
Sleepy Hollow (1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
A tim burton movie that's actually scary and doesn't cater to the whims of women and children. Seems to deviate from the source material but who cares if chris walken were chasing me i'd be shitting my pants.
17
The Fly (1958,  Unrated)
The Fly
Help me........Help me..............Help me..............help me............SPLAT! One of the greatest moments in movie history nuff said.
18
Stir of Echoes (1999,  R)
Stir of Echoes
Kevin Bacon is awesome in this six sense knock-off. I just re-watched this with a baby monitor on beside me and let me tell u it's creepy.
19
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters) (1984,  PG)
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters)
If u are too young to remember here it is, 1984 was all about MTV and this movie. It's the only movie i remember seeing in an indoor theatre with my dad and i made a pretty good living in the fifth grade selling ghostbuster t-shirts. PS Don't cross streams.
20
Drive-In Massacre (1976,  R)
Drive-In Massacre
Whoa this is the kind of film only a connoisseur of bad movies could like, so of course i own it on DVD lol.
21
Cut and Run (Inferno in diretta) (1985,  Unrated)
Cut and Run (Inferno in diretta)
Definitely not the calibre of the preceding Cannibal Holocaust, there is a scene where a guy gets ripped apart at the nuts tho.
22
Shaun of the Dead (2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
If killing zombies and throwing back a few pints with your mates is your idea of a good time this is the movie for u. A very witty comedy/horror that I never grow tired of.
23
The Addams Family (1991,  PG-13)
The Addams Family
A definitive 90s movie that i enjoy as much as the tv series. Question: do they kill the bad guys at the end? that's kinda fucked up.
24
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge (1985,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge
Yes it is a lacklustre sequel, but it does have some redeeming qualities; the "you've got the body and i've got the brain" quote and a terrifying transmutation a la american werewolf in london. Taking freddy out of the dream context just doesn't seem right tho.
25
Suspiria (1977,  R)
Suspiria
Classic atmospheric horror from argento that has some great kills, a maddeningly paced plot, creepy soundtrack, and a set that looks like it was designed by m.c.escher.
26
C.H.U.D. (Chud) (1984,  R)
C.H.U.D. (Chud)
Classic 80s cheesefest that made us all a little bit nervous when we walked by manhole covers. PLUS: look for john goodman as a cheeky cop in the diner.
27
Donnie Darko (2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
Clerks meets Evil Dead set to 80s soundtrack. Also includes a 6 foot demonic bunny that could kick Harvey's ass and Patick Swayze.
28
Carrie (1976,  R)
Carrie
Had i known proms could be this much fun i actually would have gone to mine. The first of the king adaptations has one of the best endings ever.
29
The Mummy (1932,  Unrated)
The Mummy
If you're expecting a decaying mummy walking around killing people watch a different mummy movie. Karloff in all his blessed creepiness manages to make a potentially silly movie a horror classic.
30
Just Before Dawn (1981,  R)
Just Before Dawn
It's Deliverance with 5 teens a winnebago and a great kill at the end.
31
Fido (2007,  R)
Fido
Hey who said canadians can't make zombie comedies. Ok it's not terribly original but this boy and his zombie story is well executed(pun intended). Now all we need a canadian shark attack movie.
32
Maximum Overdrive (1986,  R)
Maximum Overdrive
A fun if somewhat goofy what-if horror written and directed by King some twenty years ago. I still love this movie. WATCH FOR: Yeardly Smith the voice of Lisa Simpson plays a really annoying newlywed. "Are you dead Curtis! Are you dead?!?"
33
The Descent (2006,  R)
The Descent
The best horror flick of 2006, I was really disappointed when I missed seeing it at the drive-in during the summer as it is a perfect drive-in movie, but watching it at home in the dark was pretty intense. I'm just glad someone out there is still making horror movies that aren't remakes or rip-offs of japanese movies or toned down teenage fodder. Speaking of which, in case you were wondering, I much prefer the original "bleak" ending to the cheesey american ending.
34
The Howling (1981,  R)
The Howling
I'm embarrassed to tell u that i started watching this when i was ten got too scared and turned it off ten minutes in. Now 25 years later i finally watched it and am surprised by how comical it turns out to be not unlike Dante's gremlin movies which were childhood favourites of mine. I believe it's the fact that my mother made me cover my eyes during sex scenes in horror movies that made them scarier as my innocent mind was filling in the blanks thinking " wow if i have to cover my eyes there must be something really horrifying going on" lol.
35
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975,  R)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Didn't like it so much when i was younger because everybody was expected to love it, now that i'm older i see it's brilliance.
36
The Frighteners (1996,  R)
The Frighteners
The film that earned peter jackson the privilege of directing the lord of the rings. I want to take this opportunity to say michael j fox u rule and we miss u in movies.
37
Videodrome (1983,  R)
Videodrome
I watched this movie with The Forgotten Rebels once, it was really messed up, as is this film, which was way ahead of it's time.
38
Carnival of Souls (1962,  Unrated)
39
28 Days Later (2003,  R)
40
The Wicker Man (1973,  R)
41
Black Sabbath (I Tre volti della paura) (The Three Faces of Fear) (The Three Faces of Terror) (1963,  Unrated)
42
Halloween (1978,  R)
Halloween
Who could of guessed a guy in an inverted Captain Kirk mask could be so scary? John Carpenter thats who. One of the best slasher flicks ever.
43
Frankenstein (1931,  Unrated)
44
White Zombie (1932,  Unrated)
45
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935,  Unrated)
46
Jaws (1975,  PG)
Jaws
A malfunctioning shark forced speilberg to make a better movie that made me nervous to go in the lake when i was little. da dun da dun DA DUN DA DUN DA DUN DA DUN
47
Club Dread (2004,  R)
Club Dread
First time i watched it i wasn't very impressed, but now i might like it more than Supertroopers. Bill Paxton is a riot as the Jimmy Buffetish Coconut Pete. And the best looking woman in hollywood right now Britanny Daniels co-stars. Bravo Broken Lizard Bravo.
48
Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents: Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror) (2007,  R)
49
The Shining (1980,  R)
The Shining
Did an on-line quiz once that told me I most resembled Jack in this flick. food for thought, food for thought.
50
The Stepford Wives (1975,  PG)
51
The Thing (1982,  R)
52
The Invisible Man (1933) (,  Unrated)
53
Dracula (1931,  Unrated)
Dracula
How many movies leave an impression on the public mind as long lasting as Dracula. Not many, that's why this is a classic. There are some rough patches, but Bela's performance makes up for it.
54
Love at First Bite (1979,  PG)
55
Them! (1954,  Unrated)
56
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966,  Unrated)
57
The Exorcist (1973,  R)
58
Troll 2 (1990,  PG-13)
