Movies I've Watched 2009

Boring. Couldn't wait for her to die. Then at least I knew the movie will be over soon. Better off reading the book. Good performances though.

I never knew reading was so dangerous. No child seeing "Inkheart" will ever want to be read to again, especially if that child loves its mother. Special effects are pretty impressive.

I love VCB the way I love most indie films. Not that?s it really good, or my favourite film, but it serves its purpose. For a film set in Barcelona, it sure feels like a French production. The plot, the mood, the dialogue, everything. I wouldn?t mind watching the film again and again, like I do most Woody Allen films. Cruz was the best thing that came out of it, portraying a quirky-nutso-jealous ex-wife. I?ve never seen Scar Jo more relaxed than this. You have a feeling that the characters are not grounded in reality, but hey, it?s Woody, what did you expect?

Interesting premise. Disappointing result. Good acting, bad screenplay. Slow-paced.

I was initially confused by Paul Dano. Was he Paul, or was he Eli? Are they identical twins? Because we never see them both at the same time. I fail to see the greatness of the film; it is neither good nor bad. Day-Lewis delivers yet another Oscar-worthy, powerhouse performance, this time as a ruthless man possessed by greed.

Rip-off from The Sixth Sense and The Others. It?s a disconcerting movie because at the end, you realize that every single person in the movie is already dead, which means you?ve been watching a movie about dead people without knowing it. How misleading. The back cover didn?t say ANYTHING about dead people. Then what was the point of all the dead people to go for counseling sessions? What a waste of their time and mine.

A movie which has interesting notions about love and relationships, if somewhat a bit self-absorbed. Really incredible lines though.

I thought this could be the product of a first-time director, and I was right, in a way; it?s his first American movie. Boring and dull scenes relying heavily on close-ups. Style just isn?t there. It was uncomfortable at times, during moments which Elmer considers funny and pauses to make room for the laughter that follows. Unfortunately those laughs never arrive. A rom-com with no original ambition. Single girl, only unmarried man in town, do the math.

I found myself caring for the Morrisseys rather than for Sarah. I didn't care about her at all. The Morrisseys' daughter died under Sarah's care and she didn't even apologize. Now that she has cancer, she expects the Morrisseys to forgive her? I found Sarah annoying. Tamblyn was weak, but it was nice to see Ehle and Czerny in contemporary roles. Your typical Hallmark tearjerker.

Sleek but nothing original. Only fans of the videogame should watch this.

The lack of chemistry between the leads is compensated by Law's irresistible charm. Never has he been sweeter, more earnest and romantic. Beautiful metaphor about love being 'music from another room', hence the title. The irony of this movie is destiny being determined by our own actions. Very appropriate use of the song 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' by Savage Garden throughout the movie. Quirky characters abound in this romantic comedy.

Am usually reluctant to watch dance movies cos of 'Honey' etc. This was surprisingly good.

For what it is, and from how much I saw, which I assure you were the best parts, it's entertaining enough.

Endearing without being especially engaging.

A story about two lost souls who have issues with relationships. Storyline?s kinda bland, but cinematography, principal photography and music are really nice. The colours give it a romantic look and the music?s appropriate. I understood what the director was getting at, but somehow there?s no emotional connection, and not because the acting was bad. Must be the material. Not bad for an Australian movie.

Not your typical romantic comedy. Quite an original storyline.

Good acting, but predictable storyline, despite the studio's efforts to keep it under wraps.

"Into the Wild" is such a terrible, miserable film, that it is devastatingly good.

An extra half star for making the book more accessible.

The most intelligent film about the war yet. Though some may complain that "Lions for Lambs" is all words, I say, "Yes, isn't that wonderful?"

Disappointing.

Well-meaning, but very boring.

The first half hour was really good. Kept my interest. But right after that, the movie switched to autopilot, so did my brain. Sadly, it's not on the same level as "Gattaca"; it's not as intelligent. Even "Gamer" had something better to say, and it was just a badass, insane, brainless, action flick.

I found it boring despite the glowing reviews. A rehash of "Winged Creatures", both films starring Kate Beckinsale.

Typical cop drama.

This "mockumentary" was really good and funny. Haven't laughed like that in ages. Clever and fresh. Loved it.

Awful, awful movie.

Dumb.

Keep little girls AWAY from this movie lest they think paedophiles will be their future husbands. A creepy love story.
