One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Danny Kaye out does himself in this one pulling all the stops. Mary Poppins' Glynis Johns plays the girl he loves and a young Angela Lansbury is the princess. The infamous Basil Rathbone is the villian of the picture showing his real life sword fighting skills. The comedy is perfectly timed whether it is blatant or suttle. The quick-spoken rhyming and alliteration sequences are laugh out-loud hilarious and the whole thing is a spectacle that leaves you laughing and wanting more. The plot is something between The Scarlet Pimpernel and Robin Hood and yet still very much its own entity with clever little twists. Absolutely histerical and one of Kaye's all-time best.Sylvia Fine, Kaye's wife, does a great job with the music scores as well. An absolute classic and one of the funniest movies ever!
A classic Sci-Fi comedy that features an all-star SNL cast which is fun and visually stunning. The film has a clever premise and the humor is executed nicely. It is a more specific humor in that it will reach some but not everyone. The special effects add to the film immensly and the it's just fun to watch a movie where you can really get behind the heroes and cheer them on. Intense for easily scared audiences maybe but the laughs keep it in the comedy genre. Murray is on top of his game and Aykroyd, Ramis, Hudson, Moranis, Weaver, and Potts all bring their characters to life in a real and funny way. Simply a classic. The special effects are still good - the eggs popping out and cooking themselves, the library cards flying out of the drawers, the proton packs energy stream, etc. One of the best.
Amazing concept which panned out into a hilarious film. Deserves to be in AFI's top 100 comedies and I'm glad it is since it's one of my favorites. Bill Murray gives one of his best comedic performances and Harold Ramis directs a classic and fun film.
Hilarious way to introduce the intrepid and bumbling Inspector Clouseau. Peter Sellers and David Niven add their great talent to the film and it is as funny as it is clever. Perhaps the best story in the series.
Hilarious. Perhaps the funniest entry in the Pink Panther series. Sellers is in top form as Chief Inspector Clouseau and Herbert Lom fully shines as Dreyfus who is now fully insane and plans to destroy the world if they don't give him Clouseau. The gags and slapstick are timed perfectly and Henry Mancini creates one of the greatest music scores in the series. A lot of fun and a lot of laughs.
Hilarious follow up of the Pink Panther. This one follows the infamous bungler Inspector Clouseau as he tries to prove a woman's innocence despite what the facts say. As the bodies pile up so do the laughs in this classic Pink Panther series second film which is right on par with the first film.
Chevy Chase at perhaps his best. This smart and witty comedy has Chase in many disguises that are each hilarious. Good mystery and lots of fun. I.M. Fletcher delivers the bellyrolls in this one.
Hilarious misadventures featuring witty funny-man Cary Grant who gives some very funny expressions and also the wonderful Katherine Hepburn. Charlie Ruggles adds laughs as a tongue-tied game hunter and the situations are classic. The whole zany thing is timed nicely and always an enjoy to watch.
Funny and enjoyable, this film means more to those in the work force. The factory job at the beginning really hits home to those like myself who work in a factory. Timeless.
Wonderfully made - worth the Oscar nominees for actor, director, and picture. Chaplin plays two great parts and gives remarkable performances as both characters. My favorite performance of his from the few Chaplin movies I have seen.
One of the funniest Abbott and Costello films. This time the two play soda jerks who, in an attempt to break in to radio, pose as detectives to solve a murder. When the police show up they suspect our hapless heroes and pursue them. Lots of jokes and routines are used - but not the familiar famous ones we've all heard before. There is a scene where Costello turns on the radio and we here Who's On First - only for Abbott to tell him to turn it off. Lots of fun as Costello is in the sound effects room and when he desires to make a phone call to the building across the street. Perhaps my favorite of the duo's films it is one that should be watched.
Hilarious film starring the amazing Peter Sellers as an actor from India. The slapstick is clever and Sellers is funny as always. Outlandish scenarios and lack of dialog may through some off - but others will soak it in and fully enjoy the picture. There are moments were it seems lacking - but it feels as if you are there in his place, standing and not sure where to go or who to talk to - in other words real-life pacing of occurances. Another great Blake Edwards/Peter Sellers film. The butler has many funny situations himself, at times almost topping Sellers. Just a good ol fun film that passes an hour and a half rather nicely and enjoyably - as well as letting you have some laughs.
Perhaps the ultimate time travel film as well as an excellent comedy. This film is widely known and popular and will remain a classic. Michael J. Fox is great as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd is absolutely brilliant in perhaps his greatest ever character role. The story is gripping and intense and follows through on all its tie-ins. My personal favorite movie of all time. Zemeckis does wonderful work with camera movement and the set-ups for cinematography are brilliant. An added bonus is that Empire magazine listed Back to the Future in spot 23 for their 500 greatest films of all time - the 23rd film! Top 25 is awesome and shows that people love this film.
Great holiday classic that will leave you laughing. Pesci and Stern are hilarious and steal the show, though Culkin leaves a memorable performance. John Candy adds additional humor and the whole thing fits nicely, especially with a musical score by John Williams.
