Lovely. A great film dedicated to all the women but mostly for the love of the woman. I loved it a lot and I think it's my favorite Almodóvar so far.

The Devil's Backbone (Espinazo del diablo, El)
Amazing horror piece set during the Spanish Civil War. I love it when directors are able to make intelligent ghost movies. I mean, it's not because you make a scary film that you can't put substance in it, right?

The Sea Inside (Mar Adentro) (The Sea Within)
it was such a powerful film on a very controversial subject and i thought it was magnificient. the performances of all the cast are amazing. a must see if you did enjoy the barbarian invasions or the life of david gale.

El Orfanato (The Orphanage) (2007,  R)
El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
Belén Rueda is really a great actress. I saw her first in Mar Adentro, which I loved, and now in El Orfanato. The movie was different from what I thought. It was way more dramatic than horror. But it's not a bad point actually. I enjoyed it a lot, and even cried at some point. The atmosphere is really creepy throughout the film which doesn't make you guess what will happen next. Interesting piece!

El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)

[Rec] (2007,  R)
[Rec]
Goddamn, this film was so good! From the moment they entered the building, I was nervous. When they went into the penthouse, I thought I would go crazy from too much stress. The direction and acting is perfect. As good as The Descent, if not even better.

I'm so sad though that they are making a remake. Damn Americans. Even the title takes away a part of something that was a surprise in [REC].
43
Segunda Piel (Second Skin) (1999,  R)
44
Sex and Lucia (Lucía y el sexo) (2002,  R)
Sex and Lucia (Lucía y el sexo)
the editing was very hard to follow, but, what i saw was great. the cast was perfect, the scenery was breathtaking and the sex scenes were very torrid, erotic but never pornographic.

Hable con Ella (Talk to Her) (2002,  R)
Hable con Ella (Talk to Her)
this is only the second film of almodovar that i'm seeing but i'm getting familiar with his work. i can see his piece of magic through the images, i can see the love he has for writing and putting it all together to make a great film. he chose magnificent actors and actresses to make the interpretation of those torn souls. a must see!

i wish i was able to make my critic in spanish, but altough i can speak it and write it, i'm not fluent enough. anyway, i thought it was a great film, luis bunuel is a great director and he sure knows how to write. many great scenes take place in this film, like the party night for instance. if you enjoy satire, you won't be disappointed!

Volver (2006,  R)
Volver
I didn't expect a movie with such mystery in it. I was gladly surprised. I don't really like Penelope Cruz in American movies but in her primary language, she is excellent! I will look forward to other Spanish films starring her. Also, Almodovar does another film about women and it's great as always.

¿Quién puede matar a un niño? (Who Can Kill a Child?)(Death is Child's Play)(Island of the Damned) (1976,  R)

Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) (1988,  R)
Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown)
I love the way Almodovar always portrays women in his films. And not only women but strong women with a lot of character. It makes some colorful movies with funny moments such as this one. I love the way he uses color in every image and also the music. Thumbs up!
