Ringu ( Ring) (1998, Unrated)
This is far superior to the American re-make of The Ring, just as they always are! If you can't deal with subtitles then you must have issues, as you get the actors feelings through much better. Absolutely brilliant. Freaky as hell, and ground-breaking. The amount of movies this film has inspired is phenomenal! |

The Chumscrubber (2005, R)
This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It's dark but funny, has an amazing cast, and the whole story-line goes together well whilst still being believable. It could actually happen, and you never know what is going on behind closed doors. Can't praise this movie and Jamie Bell enough!! |

Cronos (1994, R)
You can see the way the genius that is Pan's Labyrinth would come about in this great directorial debut of del Toro. This is like a more modern Nosferatu... It has so many under-currents like addiction, eternal youth, and love bringing you through becoming a full monster. Very clever and scary beautiful movie... |

The Return (2006, PG-13)
Ugh... This movie is hard to watch... Even for Sarah/Buffy fans like myself. I nearlt turned it off in the first twenty minutes, but didn't... It got better but in the way a rash gets better, you put something on it and it then doubles in size and irritation... The three words I can use are... 'What a shame' |

Dead Silence (2007, R)
This movie should either be called "Horror Movie for Dummies", or "You're A Complete Dummy for Watching This!" which is a shame as so much more could have been done with it! I suggest watching "The Puppetmaster" and it's sequels as they scared me when I first started watching horror aged fourteen, and have a much better premise... |

El Orfanato (The Orphanage) (2007, R)
This is one amazing movie that keeps you guessing. What is happening next? What did happen to her son? I did guess the ending, but obviously not to the extent. This is a movie that becomes an experience. It is so good that I was moved to tears! That doesn't usually happen for a movie like this. Even if films like this disturb you, if you watch this you'll be glad you did. |

Return to the House on Haunted Hill (2007, R)
This may be a load of drivel, but it is highly watchable drivel! The deaths were pretty bloody good, and I mean bloody! I didn't find that I cared that much about any of the characters really, as they didn't have enough dimensions. A couple of the ghosts looked really good too. Not a bad movie just to pass some time. |

The Ruins (2008, R)
It's like Day of the Triffids meets Invasion of the Bodysnatchers meets the Aztecs... And not in a good way most of the time... The acting and effects are good, but it's bizarre, and although the tension is great at times it leaves you wanting more than some acidic ivy that feeds off humans! Original, but a bit ruined... |

Solstice (2007, PG-13)How annoying?! An attractive up-and-coming young cast sign up to this shite! I'd be gutted! The last twenty five minutes is the most interesting, but it's not that great... The acting was pretty good but this is like a Point Horror book that you finished reading and left the bitter after-taste of unsatisfaction in your mouth... |

Shrooms (2008, Unrated)
This was definitely nearly as much of a disappointment as I had heard in every review. There were slight moments where it was funny of scary, but they really were few and far between. It wasn't fluid, although, with the subject matter I wasn't expecting it to be that much... Another movie with just too much paranoia, and also... I predicted the ending at the campfire story-time... I'm just gonna go drop some shrooms and eat some noodles now... |

Drag Me to Hell (2009, PG-13)
This movie is bloody genius! I loved it! I don't think I have ever jumped so much watching a film! It is pure cheese in places, and quite gratuitous, but it completely works. You don't need to take it seriously, because it doesn't take itself seriously. The bitch fight between Christine, and the old woman is cinematic gold... Reminiscent of the fight in Death Becomes Her. This movie is a must-see! Just make sure you take a valium first... |

Tormented (2009, R)
One of the best Brit horrors I've seen in a while! The cast is hot, the deaths are bloody, and some parts are a bit comical. Like Marmite you'll either love it or hate it! It's Skins meets any teen slasher! If you killed yourself after being bullied at school, wouldn't you reek revenge on your attackers? I would. Enjoyably evil. |

The Children (2008, R)Wow... Kids really can be scary... And this movie proves it. Village of the Damned and The Exorcist eat your heart out. Bit more the girls in The Shining. FREAKY!! SO well edited it's untrue. Makes me think twice about working for Disney again. It's ashame it's not explained why all this is happening, but I applaud this film, and thought it was sheer genius. |

Coraline (2009, PG)
I think this would have been better had I watched it in 3D at the cinema. It's a good movie, and the animation is second to none! It's like the alternative family movie that you aren't really supposed to understand. Maybe an Alice in Wonderland, but on slightly more acid & Magic Mushrooms... Intriguing... |

The Fourth Kind (2009, PG-13)
I literally had a couple of moments during this movie where I had goose-bumps like someone had walked over my grave. It's different, and well done, and started off with that bizarre disclaimer by Milla Jovovich at the beginning. It had the desired effect throughout I'm sure, but if you search for any of the claims made online then you'll be sorely disappointed. A successful 'make the audience believe film' like the Blair Witch was. Freaky shit. |
