Un Chien Andalou (An Andalusian Dog) (1929,  Unrated)
Un Chien Andalou (An Andalusian Dog)
Dali was the art director for this film, so you can guess how wild and far out is the set design. Bunuel and Dali together! What a treat!

Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985,  R)
Kiss of the Spider Woman
This film was responsible for placing Raul Julia in the Hollywood map! Great performance by William Hurt. Julia is even Better!

Roma (Fellini's Roma) (1972,  Unrated)

Metropolis (1927,  Unrated)
Metropolis
Probably the most recognized work by Fritz Lang, Metropolis is a well constructed argument against social industrialization. Gender issues are also addressed in the film. With a new remastered and digitalized DVD, pay attention to the insertion of "Queen" as a soundtrack. Well done!
13
Eréndira (1983,  Unrated)
Eréndira
Garcia Marquez story "La candida Erendira" was taken into film with Irene Papas. Not so good cinematography but an extremely well edited script.
14
Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now
Well underestimated, 25 years after premiering in theaters, finally the critics agreed this is a film for history. After Godfather, this is Coppola's best!
15
Barton Fink (1991,  R)
Barton Fink
A modern classic, deals into the mind of writers. Coen makes a twisted autobiographical film, blending fantasy and reality in a clorful, well filmed piece of art.
16
Rumble Fish (1983,  R)
Rumble Fish
A beautiful blend of "filn-noir" lightning and color. Filmed in black and white, color is only added in very specific scenes, making Rumble Fish one of Coppola's mos elegant works
17
Blue Velvet (1986,  R)
Blue Velvet
David Lynch darkest hour. A crude and raw journey into human psyche. Freud would've really enjoyed this one.
18

Pink Floyd - The Wall (1982,  R)

Man Facing Southeast (1986,  R)
Man Facing Southeast
Hollywood went in to do a remake: "K-pax" but it did not work out! Subiela is a rare cinama genius with such titles as "The dark side of the heart". Eliseo Subiela indulges in a neo-materialistic discourse witha new dialectic approach that would leave even Hegel flabbergasted. Highly political, it's a very elegant critic to the post-industrialization, consumer society. Set in Argentina, the editing and camera work are exquisite. Go ahead and get it, this you will regret not :)

Dreams (Akira Kurosawa's Dreams) (Yume) (1990,  PG)
Dreams (Akira Kurosawa's Dreams) (Yume)
Kurosawa's most beautiful movie. A collection of japanese short stories in which Akira blends myth and color in a profound journey into aestthetics. If you like Kurosawa's technique in B&W, wait till you see what he does in colors. Amazing!!
22
Lord of the Flies (1990,  R)

Cet Obscur Objet du Désir (That Obscure Object of Desire) (1977,  R)
Cet Obscur Objet du Désir (That Obscure Object of Desire)
Bunuel last film...Finess, irony, sarcasm and a very dark sense of humor.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998,  R)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Johnny Depp did a marvelous job, but the real revelation is Benicio Del Toro. Don't miss a chance to watch this contemporary cinema jewel.
25
Delicatessen (1991,  R)

Diva (1981,  R)
Diva
Jean Jacque Beineix best work! Trhee story mixing in a detective trhriller with a dash of romance. Opera froma a very distinctive point of view, gives the film a sophisticated mood. A neo-master of surrealim, Beineix work is comparable to Fellini and Bunuel. If you enjoy the frontier between fiction and reality this is a great movie to watch. Enjoy!

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt) (1999,  R)
Run Lola Run (Lola rennt)

1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four) (1984,  R)
1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four)
From the renouned author George Orwell, this was Richard Burton last film. A disertation on state policy and repression. Big brother is watching...John Hurt is superb but Richard Burton is even better!! Not a "feel good" movie. If you are depressed don't see it :)

Heathers (1988,  R)
Heathers
Great comedy/thriller. Christian Slater and Wynona are superb. Funny, yet raw, Heathers will surely make an excellent weeknight movie experience. Enjoy!

Tempest (1982,  PG)
Tempest
Great cinematography and a very clever sreenplay treatmet! John Cassavetes and Gina Rowland deliver one their careers best performance. Raul Julia adds a spicy tone to the story line.
A defeated marriage, a middle-age crisis and the desire for youth gives you a dark comedy scenario in wich Paul mazursky develops a superb flick. Set in the greek islands, "Tempest" deals with human relations in a very surreal way. A graet "sunday" movie!! Enjoy
