I am still waiting for a tango movie I really love but each of these has something going for it

Tango Bar (1988, Unrated)
Very creaky movie but motivated by a real love of the tango. There are some wonderful tangos, expecially the old milongueros dancing La Cumparsita. |

Tango (1999, PG-13)
Beautifully filmed by Vittorio Storaro with some wonderful dance performances. Unfortunately the story is weak. It is clearly inspired by the stage shows of Juan Carlos Copes and would probably have been better for staying closer to this. All that said, it is this movie that inspired us to start to learn the tango. |

Assassination Tango (2003, R)
This movie is better than many critics said. There are some fine performnces especially the 6 seconds of Los Hermanos Macana. |

The Tango Lesson (1997, PG)
Potter clearly loves the tango and Pablo Veron is brilliant but overall it doesn't work for me. |
