Hayao Miyazaki is my favourite director - and responsible for some of my favourite Anime.. this movie is amazing!! And competes with Princess Mononoke as my favourite of his movies. Visually it is gorgeous, surreal, entrancing. Terrific plot that keeps you thinking. Magic and love to keep your romantic involvement and mystery to keep you engaged. I have to say, firstly, I am a snob, and I watch it in Japanese - I hate dubbed versions of anything, and i think the japanese is more beautiful and poetic. but for the peons out there, Howl is voiced by Christian Bale, and Sophie is voiced by Jean Simmons and Emily Mortimer, Calcifer the fire spirit is voiced by Billy Crystal etc. The basic plot is Sophie is a quiet studious girl, running the hat shop while her mother is off galavanting. Howl is an "evil magician" with a rep for running off with girls hearts. One day Sophie is walking home and is accosted by soldiers and saved by a mysterious (hot) guy. Next thing you know, she is cursed by the evil witch, and is stuck in the body of an old crone.. she realises she wont fit in her world, and walks into the waste. Picks up a stray (in a sense) and he helps her find somewhere to stay - which happens to be Howl's moving castle, which is powered by Calcifer, the fire spirit. She starts keeping house, in the all bachelor household, and works her own magic - that is her personaility.. anyway, definately worth watching~ for all ages...

a classic one liner! "Two Words: Alien Abduction!!" --> this movie was terrific.. hilarious.. and with millions of songs that crowded my head days after watching it.. despite being a great kids movie, there was lots in there for the adult viewers! and the morale of the story is that we really need to change our subsistence.. over use, such as over fishing, as seen in this film, effects all the creatures in the world around us.. it wont make a difference to the world immediately, but it will hopefully impart something to the new generation of human beings who are growing up as we speak.. we can only hope that they will make a difference..

Eragon 3.5 Stars
:) it was good for what is was.. the author was only 19 when he wrote it, so its fairly simplistic.. but for all that, i liked it.. heaps of cameos! think Dragonheart vs Dungeons & Dragons (with better acting!) - and I am hoping the author works more orignality into the final book (its a trilogy) - he probably would - thinking of who i was when I was 19 LOL (also look out for the cousin of eragon - aussie stars making it big LOL he was Nick on Home & Away for years! and is apparently in a new Resident Evil movie..

I loved this movie.. too many b-grade sterotypes (strategic skulls, buckets of spraying blood etc) however, the story was great.. all the characters were good, although the sociopathic bad guy was way over the top.. this one is definately being added to my wishlist :)
