It has a few slow spots, but overall a very good movie. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins is electric. Very entertaining and a fairly decent twist at the end.

30 Days of Night (2007,  R)
30 Days of Night 2.5 Stars
The idea is very smart and I wish I had thought of it first. Of course Alaska is prime feeding ground for Vampires because it is dark a lot. Not a big Josh Hartnett fan. I think if I was in love with him as some people seem to be, I would have enjoyed it more. I love Ben Foster. I think he is a very smart talented young man. The Vampires were cool looking and did lots of cool vampire things. They can jump high and far and they are scary. I would say it is worth watching once, but I would not own it. An adequate vampire movie.

I would have to say this is one of the most brilliant movies ever made. The ending is classic and makes you want to watch the movie all over again right away just to see if it could be true. Kevin Spacey is extraordinary.

Tarantino wrote this "love story". While not a conventional love story it is brilliant and sweet. The cast is uncomparable. It features many terrific performances, but I am partial to the cameo by Brad Pitt. Genius!

Another wonderful perfomance from Brad Pitt. He can be so impressive in some roles. It is an odd movie being that it comes from the mind of Terry Gilliam, but it is quite brilliant.

Gone Baby Gone (2007,  R)
Gone Baby Gone 4.5 Stars
This is a great movie. Ben Affleck is actually a very unique and talented director in my opinion. It was terrific and I could not recommend it more. The cast is great. I didn't recognize Ed Harris at first. He reminded me of Viggo Mortensen with all that facial hair. It is a little rough in spots and the language is constant. I also think it makes Boston look kind of scary. No offense to any people from Boston. I realize it is just a movie. :) Heart-wrenching.

I love this movie!! If you have ever worked for a restaurant or in any typical office setting you should like this movie. It is hilarious. I was working for T.G.I. Fridays when it came out and then shortly after was working in a customer service call center. I can completely relate to not having enough pieces of flare and having a case of the Mondays.

The Mist (2007,  R)
The Mist 4.5 Stars
I was highly impressed with this movie. Filmakers seem to do better with King's short stories then they do with the novels. Frank Darabont really gets Stephen King and he directs his work masterfully. I wish he would do some more adaptations. The Mist was beautifully cast. I actually envisioned Thomas Jane as the main character while reading the book. So it was awesome that he was actually cast in the movie. The effects were cool. I was tense the whole movie and sobbed at the end. It was magnificent and if you like suspensful (somewhat gory) movies this is the one for you.

A very pure, raw emotional film. Ryan Gosling exhibits tremendous talent in everything I have seen him in and he does not disappoint here. All of the actors were great. It was a sweet heartfelt movie that is not what you would expect from the description.

Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted 3.5 Stars
Entertaining. I already like Jolie so that is a big part of the appeal for me. They are not kidding when they say based on a graphic novel either. Lots of people getting shot in the face in slow motion. The shots were awesome and cool though. Unrealistic of course but really fun to watch. A lot of action and the music was terrific.
