Donkey Punch (2008,  R)
Donkey Punch
A film that will get people talking about it?s controversial title and explicit sex scene, this is not a film for everyone.

A more realistic approach to this type of Horror film (which was more of a Thriller) and it had its? fair share of tense moments. The film will definitely appeal more to the 18-30 age group, especially those who holiday to party. Considering its? low budget, I feel it?s a well put together film.

Special Features reveal plenty of interviews with Cast, Director, Co-writer and Producer.

Prudes beware! To say this film is sexually explicit, is a huge understatement. There is a storyline which kind of becomes more clear part of the way through. It does show some of British best bands. I'm sure this film will attact a lot of mixed comments.

The Dreamers (2004,  NC-17)

Young Adam (2004,  R)
Young Adam
A well appreciated film all around it seems, yet I found the story to be very slow moving. The interest no doubt, heightened with the nudity and bed-hopping of Ewan Mcgregor?s character, whilst the story itself is an interesting one, I feel this could have been condensed somewhat and was very underwhelmed by it?s ending.

Sex and Lucia (Lucía y el sexo) (2002,  R)
Sex and Lucia (Lucía y el sexo)
One of the strangest storylines ever, which confuses the viewer throughout, that I think, is the beauty of this piece. There is something quite addictive about the story. This is a film that definitely benefits from multiple viewing

As I?m sure you will guess from its title though, this film is pretty graphic sexually, so if scenes of this nature are likely to cause offence, cross this one off your list. However, for a film as sexually graphic as this one, there is most definitely a great storyline to accompany it.
6
Irreversible (2002,  Unrated)
Irreversible
Told in the tradition of that in "Memento" i.e the storyline is played backwards, the film opens with a very visually dark scene accompanied by a pretty bizarre sound (that's still running through my head!! ha ha), along with some very dizzy filming, the viewer isn't particularly aware of what is going on straight away, but within the first couple of scenes the storyline developes and of course you are intrigued to know, how it all began.

The married couple, Cassel and Bellucci are great together on screen in this unique, bizarre and very entertaining film. One scene in particular is very daring and controversial.

Another great performance from Cassel who seems to manage to express every emotion possible throughout the process of the film.

Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001,  R)
Y Tu Mama Tambien
This film is a sexually charged adventure for two teens and an older woman. Whilst the focus of the film is of a sexual nature with fairly explicit scenes, there is also a more hidden serious point to the film too, but to be truthful, how many people are going to pick up on that?

Monster's Ball (2001,  R)
Monster's Ball
A bitter-sweet tale from start to finish, this film is all about breaking generational cycles of learned behaviour. The film has a very raw honesty about it and the emotions go from each extreme, from no feeling to intense feeling and is a most extroidinary tale of love and lost.

It was certainly Halle Berry's best performance to date in my opinion, but Billy Bob Thornton was something else and this was arguably his best role to date too.

The Father must have played a great role too, because the disgust of his character really is felt through the storytelling.

One of my favourite films, it?s deep and it?s human!

Fat Girl (À ma soeur!) (2001,  Unrated)
Fat Girl (À ma soeur!)
I have mixed feelings on this storyline, firstly it articulates the feelings of these two very young girls in a realistic sense, I?m sure many ladies out there watching this film will relate to this with nostalgia and can draw an understanding of the circumstances.

Secondly though, it was no doubt controversial and an uncomfortable watch in parts, especially with the nudity, I guess, the disturbing feel is what you are supposed to feel with this storyline, of course you can see it?s purpose yet almost wish it wasn?t necessary.

It cleverly unravelled the manipulation from the male, which is targeted, obviously to the girl because of her age.

Finally the ending, which was totally unexpected, sums up the whole theme of the film and the different view points in which the girls have about their first sexual experience and does not logically make sense, but, I guess the beauty of this film is that, it is illogical and told through the eyes of the innocent.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999,  R)
Eyes Wide Shut
This rather drawn out mystery explores an unknown world of a sexual nature. It seems (at least to me) a strange pairing between Director and Actors in this case, meaning Cruise and Kidman?s usual roles being a little more squeaky clean, but perhaps that was the appeal at the time of relase, plus of course the fact that they were at the time a high profile married couple.

Although there were elements of the film that worked, I can?t help thinking that with different main Actors it could have been a much better film, with Kidman being quite annoying throughout and Cruise? well being Cruise. Oh and that bloody piano!!!!
11
Crash (1996,  NC-17)
Crash
David Cronenberg?s ?Crash? isn?t for everybody. The theme of the film is sexually orientated to a particular fetish and really has nothing more to offer than adrenalin infused romps.

Don?t get me wrong, I?m not prudish when it comes to such films, but from the reviews I?ve previously received, I had thought this film was going to be some kind of controversial masterpiece.

Law of Desire (La Ley del deseo) (1987,  NC-17)
Law of Desire (La Ley del deseo)
A love triangle evolves into obsession and murder, in this fairly early Almodovar picture. Like many of PD?s films, there are subtle hints of sub-stories which push the boundaries of socially accepted relationships.

A very important role for Antonio Banderas in terms of progressing towards his Hollywood career. With some (fairly) graphic sexual scenes this may not be for everyone, but a good watch for any Almodovar fans.

Body Double (1984,  R)
Body Double
A very odd cheesy film from the 80's which somehow held my attention, it was possibly a bit better than I'd expected.
