Picnic at Hanging Rock
For what it's worth, ghost stories are at their best when the monumental hour of illusion takes place in the minds of the victims. Not exactly a feminist work of art but the eeriness of the girls and the trembling musical notes assist Weir to film in a surprisingly warm scenery his treatise on questionable events, the mythology behind them and how nature is arguably both a friend and a foe to the living creatures.

Gallipoli
Extraordinary. The true essence of anti-war film and a far away journey of 2 immature at first and throughout the film skeptic creatures prolonging a grueling battling experience and the final outcome.Weir is a captain.Steering a prosperous wheel brimmed with philosophy in addition to liturgy.Frisky business for these governments, neither it's a major conflict or a simple quarrel.Bravo Peter.

I thought once during the film "didn't they produce films like this"?I was right some weeks later when Accidental Tourist came in.OK,it's an alternative story than Kasdan's previous film,I admit it though,I only saw it for Weir's sake. It's simply irrational the fact he gave up the vision in his head to embark on a...romantic comedy.Sure,it was good up to a point,Depardieu on his last great roles, the tackiness was obviously there and it's for no reason a Meg Ryan stupid flick or sappy bubblegum but the idea didn't evolve.

The Truman Show (1998,  PG)
The Truman Show
A frightening film, power of T.V.,mass media influence and the heart of darkness. It is,no one can deny that.Big Brother is watching us we used to say in joking terms, now it isn't joyful anymore.Truman Show gives a possibility of what a possible future can be,I wish it doesn't come out as it shows.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003,  PG-13)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Epic.A casually used word. For Weir it was more and he knew it.Crow's last great performance so far (and a raw sidekick by Bettany character), a comment towards seafarers and their insufficient policies in moments of ecumenical decision. It doesn't have the miraculous sense of his previous directorial achievements, yet that doesn't stop it from being an homage to the old marine adventures.
