When I saw this film at the age of nine years old in theatres around Christmas of 1974,it was one of the most breathtaking disaster films I ever saw and to this day it holds the title as one of the greatest ever. Watching Paul Newman and Steve McQueen is the roles of their careers is worth it.

A Soul Cimema Classic from the golden age of the 1970's. Watching the great Issac Hayes as Truck Turner taking out the baddies is well worth viewing not to even mention the grindhouse performance of Nichelle "Uhara" Nichols
as a sadistic evil female pimp who is gives a performance(as well as a shock)to anything beyond the dimension of Star Trek

Next to the pre-Dirty Harry Don Siegel, and not to mention pre-Wild Bunch director Sam Peckinpah,Phil Karlson was Hollywood's best director of low-budget toughies of classic "B" grade films of the 1950's and 1960's. It wasn't until the early 1970's though this career swan song doesn't offer much support for assertion. It wasn't until 1973,when Karlson made a low-budget action flick about a county sheriff who comes in and dismantled the baddies and bigots in a corrupt sleepy Southern town. The film was called "Walking Tall",and it became not only a vigilante brutal display of one man getting back at the system, but it became a call for something else. The film became one of the top ten highest grossing films of that year and it made a unknown actor by the name of Joe Don Baker into a huge star and it spawned two theatrical sequels(that starred Bo Svenson)not to mention a short-lived TV series under the same title.

After the tremendous and runaway boxoffice success of "Walking Tall",actor Joe Don Baker and director Phil Karlson reteamed again in 1975 for this expose of rampant political corruption and low-down dirtness in a sleepy Southern town, not to mention acts of revenge and envy in corrupt Southern state. "Framed" was just as good as it gets with Joe Don Baker, John Marley, and Brock Peters. Only this time around the graphic violence and strong language is ante up for maximum pleasure.

Take a Hard Ride (Kid Vengeance) (1977,  R)
Take a Hard Ride (Kid Vengeance) 5.0 Stars
The stars of "Three The Hard Way" return for a hard-hitting non stop action.
A classic twist of the Hollywood western with the world of blaxploitation. Jim Brown,Fred Williamson and Jim Kelly are riders along with Lee Van Cleef and Catherine Spaak on their quest for Mexican gold. It's Three The Hard Way in the Old West. Not bad for a western that live up to its title when it was released in 1975. Released thru 20th Century Fox.

Walter Matthau taking on a sadistic terrorist with a handful of hostages on board a NY transit line remains one of the best to ever grace the 1970's In the pantheon of classic New York Films, these four films take pride of place.
Right up there with "Taxi Driver","Serpico","Dog Day Afternoon",and "Annie Hall". Not to mention other films of the 1970's that also takes place in New York: "The Warriors","Across 110th Street",and "The Education of Sonny Carson." This is a brilliant but taut 1974 suspense thriller from director Joesph Sargent. A excellent cast which includes Robert Shaw,Hector Elizondo,James Broderick and Martin Balsam.
