The Films of 1977
Not only George Lucas' space saga "Star Wars" smashed boxoffice records as it became one of the highest grossing film of 1977,but it also dominated the Oscars winning six for Best Original Score(John Williams),Best Visual and Best Special Effects. The other boxoffice hits of 1977 were Steven Spielburg's science fiction classic "Close Encounters of the Third Kind","Saturday Night Fever"(the movie that made John Travolta a huge megastar),"Smokey and the Bandit","Slap Shot","The Turning Point","Julia",and "Wizards". The 1977 Woody Allen masterpiece "Annie Hall" won the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director.
