Dances With Wolves (1990,  PG-13)

Cold Mountain (2003,  R)
Cold Mountain
The chemistry between Kidman and Law is breathtaking but watching Zellweger as the rough, feisty and loudmouthed Ruby was a real treat. She makes Kidman look like a deer caught in headlights most of the time. Also I wouldnt miss any masterpieces from Anthony Minghella who directed The English Patient and Talented Mr Ripley. He makes films in the most beautiful locations! It is a real pity that the gifted director had passed away. Anyone who enjoys watching the Civil War period/epic romance movies, would treasure this one. I find this a well crafted film from start to finish.

The Last of the Mohicans
Action, romance, war, and passionate, intriguing drama. An epic to be reckon with.A timeless tale of the 18th century frontier and the virtue and tragedy that results when the uniquely different cultures of the French, English, Native Americans, and colonists collide. Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeline Stowe were brilliant here, they delivered their roles as Hawkeye and Cora Munro.

Hamburger Hill (1987,  R)
Hamburger Hill
Based on true events. It was Vietnam, 1969, Hill 937, 10 days, 70 percent casualties. New recruits were sent on a suicide mission to capture the insignificant and well-protected Hamburger Hill.
Brutal and very bloody but downright realistic too.It is not as high-budgeted, as Platoon and Full Metal Jacket but just as deserving in credits.
36
Enemy at the Gates (2001,  R)
37
God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan (2007,  PG)
38
The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2007,  Unrated)
39
Miracle at St. Anna (2008,  R)
40
Stop Loss (2008,  R)
Stop Loss
An interesting story from soldiers' point of views. Touches the lives of U.S. soldiers return home from fighting in Iraq. Usually upon returning from a war, these guys are really messed up. Post traumatic stress were common. No armed structured discipline, the boys gets restless. Stop loss also focuses on a government practice of retaining soldiers beyond their expected term, even when their tour of duty ends, they were sent back and many decides to go AWOL. Its either Iraq or jail. Can you imagine that some opted for the slammer than going back to the hellish nightmare of Iraq. It is not an overly emotional story, it is a document of the struggles of those fighting the external war in Iraq while battling their own inner demons.
