The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) (1966, R)
This was a very good western. Had a good plot and great characters. Clint Eastwood character is your classic tough guy cowboy with a mysterious past. Eli Wallach character is very funny in this. A must for western fans. The movie also has a great music theme throughout the film. If you have never heard or seen the film you most likely have heard the theme song. |

Young Guns (1988, R)
One of my all time favorite western's. The story is based on the life of Billy the Kid and his crew. The film shows his origin and trouble with the law. With some great action and gun fight scenes makes for a fun action film. The film has such a great cast and some characters in this. A fun ride of a film. Well worth a watch. |

Young Guns II (1990, PG-13)This is a great sequel. Billy the Kid is back and still just as wild and bad as the first. The story kicks off right from the first. The characters that survived the first film are back. Now the Billy the Kid is based off true events. Now I am not sure how accurate this story is but it delivers as a first rate great western. With a great cast, story and action makes for a fun film. Check out the original and this sequel for a good watch. |

Unforgiven (1992, R)
This is a great western. Very dark story with a great cast. Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman are all great in this. Between the action and the great characters and story make this a great film. Now if you are not a fan of westerns you might want to avoid it. But I would suggest giving it a chance due to the great story and cast making it great. A must see for movie fans. |

The Lone Ranger (1956, Unrated)
The Lone Ranger has to be one of western's classic characters. This may have been filmed back in the 50's but is still enjoyable to watch today. The Lone Ranger, Tonto, Hi Ho Silver away are stuck in pop culture. Plus the Lone Ranger theme music is a classic tune. The Lone Ranger is a classic western super hero. |

The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold (1958, Unrated)
The Lone Ranger is a classic western super hero. I loved this film as a kid and still enjoy it today. Sure it was made in the 50's but it stills holds up today as a great western movie. The Lone Ranger, Tonto, Hi Ho Silver Away, and the silver bullets are all great and stuck in pop culture to this day. Plus the Lone Ranger theme music was awesome. The theme music will also live on as a classic tune. |

3:10 to Yuma (2007, R)
This is a outstanding western. The best western in a long time. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe both give top notch performances. A great dark story. A would like to see a sequel with Crowe's character back in another western story. Ben Foster gives a good supporting role performance. Plus the gun fighting and action scenes are worth a watch. A classic western film. |

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007, R)
This is a great western film based on the real events and life of Outlaw Jesse James and Robert"the Coward" Ford. First off the film was beautifully shot. From the images to the darkness of the film and the period of the film was great. The film also as a great cast. Brad Pitt was excellent as Jesse James. Casey Affleck gives one of his best ever performances as Robert Ford. Plus a good supporting role from Sam Rockwell. The film may seem slow in parts but I found the characters are so well potrayed and the content was interesting to keep me watching. After watching the film I read up on the history of Jesse James and Robert Ford. The film is pretty near accurate to the history and how the characters were preceived. Overall a must see film for fans who enjoy westerns or just those who like real event based films. |

Quigley Down Under (1990, PG-13)
This was a great western set in none other than Australia. Tom Selleck is a American cowboy hired to help out at a Australian ranch. But he finds that he can not do what is asked of him so he rebels and a fight is started. Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman are both great in this. Some great gun fight scenes and action in this film. If you like westerns then this is worth a watch. |

Little Big Man (1970, PG)
This is a bit of a odd western. Stars Dustin Hoffman as a white man adopted by the Natives as a child and raised as one of their own. The story leads to the battle at Little Big Horn. The film has some very funny moments and great characters. Dustin Hoffman is quite good in this. Worth checking out if you enjoy westerns. |

Wyatt Earp (1994, PG-13)
This is a western about the life of famous gun slinger/lawman Wyatt Earp. I am not sure how accurate it is in his depiction but I found this to be a interesting western. Stars Kevin Costner as Wyatt Earp. He does a solid job in that role. Plus the film has a great supporting cast to fill the rest of the roles. The story of his life and family and friends is quite interesting. A worthy western to watch. If you end up liking this film then check out Tombstone as well. It came out around the same time. Another take on the Wyatt Earp story. |

Maverick (1994, PG)
This is a western comedy based off a television show starring James Garner. James Garner is also back for a role in this with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster. They each do a great job in their roles. The film has a solid story with great characters and many funny moments through out. If you enjoy westerns then check this film out. |

Shanghai Noon (2000, PG-13)
A solid action adventure film starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. For the most part this works as a buddy team up. Jackie Chan brings the action and the comedy. Owen Wilson brings the comedy with smart ass comments. A solid story and some great action scenes makes for a fun film. Not as good as other Jackie Chan action films but still entertains. Worth a watch. |

3:10 to Yuma (1957, Unrated)
The original 3:10 to Yuma is a great western from the 50's. I watched the remake with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale before I watched this original. I was quite impressed that some of the lines from this film was used word for word for the remake. Sure some of the characters backgrounds and action scenes are not as good as the remake. And this film didn't have some of the same characters as the remake. And the remake is much darker with a different ending then this one. But still a solid western that was fun to watch. Glenn Ford is great as outlaw Ben Wade. Van Heflin was solid as rancher turned deputy Dan Evans. I prefer the remake but this was still worth watching. |

The Fastest Gun Alive (1956, Unrated)A decent western starring Glenn Ford as a shopkeeper who has a hidden past being the fastest gun slinger. He keeps this a secret until one day he shows his town how fast he can shoot a gun. This of course draws the attention of other gun slingers looking to prove they are faster. A solid entertaining western. The original story was made for a television show. But they decided to make it into a movie.Worth a watch if you enjoy the old black and white westerns. I liked it. |

Lightning Jack (1994, PG-13)
This is a comedy western starring Paul Hogan as outlaw Lighting Jack. The film also stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as a mute who teams up with Lighting Jack in the film. Paul Hogan and Cuba Gooding both do a fine job in their roles. The story is decent and I did get a few laughs from the film. If you enjoyed Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee then I would suggest giving this movie a try. Worth a watch. |

Tombstone (1993, R)
This is a solid western. About the life of marshall Wyatt Earp. Made and released around the same time as the movie Wyatt Earp. This one just takes a different direction with the story. The film has a great cast with Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Bill Paxton, Dana Delany, Bill Zane and Sam Elliott. Not sure how historically accurate this film is. But it is entertaining. Full of gun fights and action. A fun western film. Check this movie out and also watch Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp and compare. I liked both. |
