The Most Overrated Movies I've Seen

I think I have found a director to rank alongside the Coen Brothers. Willem Dafoe however was brilliant as usual.

How quickly a series can degenerate once again. There are so many things bad about this movie I'm not even going to bother. Probably the worst Bond movie ever.

I wish the Coen brothers never made any movies

Boring.

I liked the intro to the movie, and it was so cheesy it was kinda funny at first, but it was all downhill after that.

I'd much rather watch a Cheech & Chong movie. This just got way too silly.

I remember seeing this when it first came out, thinking it wasn't half-bad. What the HELL was I thinking?! This movie was everything that is bad - horrendous casting and acting, god-awful script, stupid plot, and blatantly commercial product-placement. About the only thing it didn't do wrong was leave itself open for a sequel.

highly disappointing

Very slow at first, then picks up, but I still feel this film is way overrated. Obviously patterned after a much better film released a year earlier - La Notte.

Rather boring. I expected much more from Jim Henson. The best thing I can say about this movie is Crystal Method's sampling job on Trip Like I Do...

Too artsy for my taste. Though the bondage sex scene to the Doors was pretty cool.

What a waste of 1 1/2 hours. Has perhaps the worst single scene in a movie I've ever seen. Or maybe that's the two worst scenes...

Cheesy music, awful dialogue, and a twist I saw right from the beginning.

yet another artsy fartsy remake

Usually liking movies Ashton and Amanda are in I wanted to like this movie. After reading the promo though I was quite skeptical - with good reason. This film was horrible. I don't blame the actors as they had decent chemistry and carried out their roles, but the writing was weak, the plot ridiculous, and it made horrible use of music (ruining some otherwise good songs). There also seemed moments where the director had the actors ad-lib and the attempts at humor in these spots was just lame. Thumbs down.

What a horrible sequel. Does Kim Myers look just like Meryl Streep or what?

The abomination of the Star Wars saga continues. Almost from the get-go I just wanted this to be over. There were a couple interesting pieces to the historical plot puzzle but mostly this was just an overdone special effects fest with wooden dialogue (particularly Samuel Jackson), ridiculous situations, and corny humor. Ewan McGregor was the only bright spot as a younger Obi Wan. At least we weren't subjected to much of the most annoying character in film history - Jar Jar Binks.

Weak story, poor casting, corny soundtrack, and awful chemistry made for a long hour and a half.

I suspected when the movie opened to U2 that I was in store for two hours of cheese. I was right. Full of cliches and more corny music, I couldn't wait for this movie to be over.

Interesting to learn a bit of the background of Joy Division/New Order but otherwise not much special here.

What started out seemingly as a Chinese Godfather just dragged on. The acting was poor, the dialogue weak, and the romantic interest scenes some of the worst I've ever seen.

Not a fan of the choppy directing, the abrupt ending, or melodrama used here. It definitely took Scorsese some years before he matured as a director. The show was better than the movie, though I'm a bit surprised they came up with it, based on the relatively minor role it played in the film.

Perhaps if this had stuck to being a musical it could've been salvaged. As it was it was typical animated drivel. Bartok is certainly one of the most annoying supporting characters in film history. And I thought granny never saw Anastasia again?? Pfft.

Nowhere near as funny as the first one. The unrated version amplified the stupidity, just like The Sweetest Thing.

A rather interesting twist on what I was expecting from the storyline but it degenerated into a link of robotic scenes set to a hodgepodge of music and finally ended just plain weakly.

The video game is a classic, the movie...not so much.

Sorry, dude. Trying to remake Scarface just doesn't work this time. I think De Palma had a midlife crisis when he hit 50 because all the movies I've seen him do since then have typically been overdramatic. Throw in a poor choice of music, the horrible acting job by Penelope Ann Miller, and the just plain annoying narration and this is the result. Sean Penn's performance, as always, was stellar.

Not as good as I remembered. Rather monotonous - bank job, Bonnie gets depressed, gun fight, blah blah blah...

this movie epitomizes why Halle Berry is an overrated actress; but she's not even the worst here - that dishonor goes to Madonna

Watching spoiled, middle-aged women feel sorry for themselves is not my cup of tea.

Horrible acting, directing, and an almost non-existent plot. Plus the repetitive music and the constant nickname usage was just plain annoying. I have nothing good to say about this movie.

An artsy-fartsy piece of garbage

While it got better at the end, there was enough sap to brew a fine batch of maple syrup. Julia Roberts is not a good actress; and even less so toward the beginning of her career. And the 80's feel (not in a good way) was made even worse by the awful Kenny G sax solos.

An overrated drama; drawn-out when it could've ended numerous different times. The ending was just plain maudlin. Clint is becoming way too soft. John Malkovich, however, was brilliant as usual.

This just in - David Lynch can now officially join my most over-rated director's club. Even though I knew this was a cult fave, my expectations were low after having seen "Wild at Heart" (the most over-rated movie of all time). I actually thought it was halfway decent, but the ending was just plain silly. And Isabella Rossellini's acting even made Laura Dern look good.

Not a whole lot better than the crappy sequel.

Watching two boring people be boring together...gripping. The fact that anyone was nominated for any award for this movie, let alone winning, is a crime.
