Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)
I gave this movie two chances - it was just as lame the second time

Crank (2006,  R)
Crank
I was hoping for something like The Transporter, instead I got something more like a cheese sandwich.
11
The Lost Boys (1987,  R)

Oklahoma! (1955,  G)
18
Bomb the System (2005,  R)
19
Quantum of Solace (2008,  PG-13)
Quantum of Solace
How quickly a series can degenerate once again. There are so many things bad about this movie I'm not even going to bother. Probably the worst Bond movie ever.
20
Cradle of Fear (2000,  Unrated)
21
Malcolm X (1992,  PG-13)
22
Gone With the Wind (1939,  G)

25
Repulsion (1965,  Unrated)
Repulsion
Boring.
26
Night of the Demons (1998,  R)
Night of the Demons
I liked the intro to the movie, and it was so cheesy it was kinda funny at first, but it was all downhill after that.
27
Titus (1999,  R)
28
Pineapple Express (2008,  R)
Pineapple Express
I'd much rather watch a Cheech & Chong movie. This just got way too silly.
29
Demolition Man (1993,  R)
Demolition Man
I remember seeing this when it first came out, thinking it wasn't half-bad. What the HELL was I thinking?! This movie was everything that is bad - horrendous casting and acting, god-awful script, stupid plot, and blatantly commercial product-placement. About the only thing it didn't do wrong was leave itself open for a sequel.
30
Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot the Piano Player) (1960,  Unrated)
31
Three Kings (1999,  R)
32
The Faculty (1998,  R)

Van Helsing (2004,  PG-13)
Van Helsing
highly disappointing
35
Nóz w Wodzie (Knife in the Water) (1962,  Unrated)
Nóz w Wodzie (Knife in the Water)
Very slow at first, then picks up, but I still feel this film is way overrated. Obviously patterned after a much better film released a year earlier - La Notte.
36
The Dark Crystal (1982,  PG)
The Dark Crystal
Rather boring. I expected much more from Jim Henson. The best thing I can say about this movie is Crystal Method's sampling job on Trip Like I Do...
37
Who's That Knocking at My Door? (1969,  R)
Who's That Knocking at My Door?
Too artsy for my taste. Though the bondage sex scene to the Doors was pretty cool.
38
The Return of the Pink Panther (1975,  G)
39
2001 Maniacs (2005,  R)
40
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989,  PG)
41
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005,  PG-13)
42
Cheyenne (2002,  R)
Cheyenne
Horrible, even for a cheesy western.
43
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966,  Unrated)
44
Wild Orchid (1990,  R)
45
Hard Hunted (1987,  R)
46
A Wedding (1978,  PG)
A Wedding
Extremely boring.
47
Hercules (1997,  G)
Hercules
horrible...even for a Disney movie.
48
As Good As It Gets (1997,  PG-13)
As Good As It Gets
I am still in shock by the utter stupidity of this movie.
49
Dark City (1998,  R)
Dark City
wannabe cult movie is vastly overrated - even Jennifer Connelly can't save it
50
The Patriot (2000,  R)
The Patriot
maudlin
51
Naked States (2000,  R)
52
The Last Unicorn (1982,  G)
53
The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970,  Unrated)
54
The Sweetest Thing (2002,  R)
The Sweetest Thing
What a waste of 1 1/2 hours. Has perhaps the worst single scene in a movie I've ever seen. Or maybe that's the two worst scenes...
55
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts) (2001,  R)
56
The Brave One (2007,  R)
The Brave One
*Yawn* If you're gonna do vigilante do it right. What a pretentious piece of crap.
57
D.O.A. (1988,  R)
D.O.A.
Cheesy music, awful dialogue, and a twist I saw right from the beginning.
58
An American Tail (1986,  G)
An American Tail
Typical cheesy animated fare.
59
William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice (2004,  R)
William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice
yet another artsy fartsy remake
60
A Lot Like Love (2005,  PG-13)
A Lot Like Love
Usually liking movies Ashton and Amanda are in I wanted to like this movie. After reading the promo though I was quite skeptical - with good reason. This film was horrible. I don't blame the actors as they had decent chemistry and carried out their roles, but the writing was weak, the plot ridiculous, and it made horrible use of music (ruining some otherwise good songs). There also seemed moments where the director had the actors ad-lib and the attempts at humor in these spots was just lame. Thumbs down.
61
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge (1985,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge
What a horrible sequel. Does Kim Myers look just like Meryl Streep or what?
62
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
The abomination of the Star Wars saga continues. Almost from the get-go I just wanted this to be over. There were a couple interesting pieces to the historical plot puzzle but mostly this was just an overdone special effects fest with wooden dialogue (particularly Samuel Jackson), ridiculous situations, and corny humor. Ewan McGregor was the only bright spot as a younger Obi Wan. At least we weren't subjected to much of the most annoying character in film history - Jar Jar Binks.
63
Lifeforce (1985,  R)
64
Shakespeare in Love (1998,  R)
65
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
66
The Wedding Date (2005,  PG-13)
The Wedding Date
Weak story, poor casting, corny soundtrack, and awful chemistry made for a long hour and a half.
67
Sid & Nancy (1986,  R)
68
Ice Age (2002,  PG)
69
Superman (1978,  PG)
70
Runaway Bride (1999,  PG)
Runaway Bride
I suspected when the movie opened to U2 that I was in store for two hours of cheese. I was right. Full of cliches and more corny music, I couldn't wait for this movie to be over.
71
Interview with the Vampire (1994,  R)
72
Cloak & Dagger (1984,  PG)
73
Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003,  PG-13)
74
24 Hour Party People (2002,  R)
24 Hour Party People
Interesting to learn a bit of the background of Joy Division/New Order but otherwise not much special here.
75
Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006,  R)
Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus
I like weird, but this was just stupid-weird
76
The Big Blue (Le Grand bleu) (1988,  R)
77
Blade - Trinity (2004,  R)
78
Rush Hour 2 (2001,  PG-13)

Too silly for my tastes.
79
Ghost Rock (2003,  R)
80

82
A Girl Thing (2001,  Unrated)
83
Foxfire (1996,  R)
84
Year of the Dragon (1985,  R)
Year of the Dragon
What started out seemingly as a Chinese Godfather just dragged on. The acting was poor, the dialogue weak, and the romantic interest scenes some of the worst I've ever seen.
85
Delta Delta Die! (2003,  R)
86
Truth Be Told (Final Breakdown) (Turnaround) (2003,  R)
Truth Be Told (Final Breakdown) (Turnaround)
pretty lame
87
Porky's II: The Next Day (1983,  R)
88
The Thin Red Line (1999,  R)
The Thin Red Line
gave it two chances - boring both times.
89
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974,  PG)
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore
Not a fan of the choppy directing, the abrupt ending, or melodrama used here. It definitely took Scorsese some years before he matured as a director. The show was better than the movie, though I'm a bit surprised they came up with it, based on the relatively minor role it played in the film.
90
Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story (2004,  PG-13)
91
Wag the Dog (1997,  R)
92
Final Analysis (1992,  R)
93
The Producers (1968,  PG)
94
The Matrix Reloaded (2003,  R)
95
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996,  R)
96
Anastasia (1997,  G)
Anastasia
Perhaps if this had stuck to being a musical it could've been salvaged. As it was it was typical animated drivel. Bartok is certainly one of the most annoying supporting characters in film history. And I thought granny never saw Anastasia again?? Pfft.
97
Dune (1984,  PG-13)
98
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008,  R)
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay
Nowhere near as funny as the first one. The unrated version amplified the stupidity, just like The Sweetest Thing.
99
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002,  PG-13)
100
The 300 Spartans (1962,  Unrated)
101
White Nights (1957,  PG-13)
White Nights
A rather interesting twist on what I was expecting from the storyline but it degenerated into a link of robotic scenes set to a hodgepodge of music and finally ended just plain weakly.
102
Open My Heart (2004,  Unrated)
103
Resident Evil (2002,  R)
Resident Evil
The video game is a classic, the movie...not so much.
104
The Sugarland Express (1974,  PG)
The Sugarland Express
Like a boring Bonnie & Clyde.
105
Snake Skin Jacket (1997,  Unrated)
106
Demon Slayer (2002,  Unrated)
107
The Mission (1986,  PG)
108
Jumanji (1995,  PG)
109
Happily N'Ever After (2006,  PG)
110
Carlito's Way (1993,  R)
Carlito's Way
Sorry, dude. Trying to remake Scarface just doesn't work this time. I think De Palma had a midlife crisis when he hit 50 because all the movies I've seen him do since then have typically been overdramatic. Throw in a poor choice of music, the horrible acting job by Penelope Ann Miller, and the just plain annoying narration and this is the result. Sean Penn's performance, as always, was stellar.
111
Splash (1984,  PG)
112
Miss Congeniality (2000,  PG-13)
113
Bonnie and Clyde (1967,  R)
Bonnie and Clyde
Not as good as I remembered. Rather monotonous - bank job, Bonnie gets depressed, gun fight, blah blah blah...
114
Die Another Day (2002,  PG-13)
Die Another Day
this movie epitomizes why Halle Berry is an overrated actress; but she's not even the worst here - that dishonor goes to Madonna
115
The First Wives Club (1996,  PG)
The First Wives Club
Watching spoiled, middle-aged women feel sorry for themselves is not my cup of tea.
116
The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008,  PG)
117
Salmonberries (1991,  R)
Salmonberries
Horrible acting, directing, and an almost non-existent plot. Plus the repetitive music and the constant nickname usage was just plain annoying. I have nothing good to say about this movie.
118
Marie Antoinette (2006,  PG-13)
Marie Antoinette
An artsy-fartsy piece of garbage
119
Dying Young (1991,  R)
Dying Young
While it got better at the end, there was enough sap to brew a fine batch of maple syrup. Julia Roberts is not a good actress; and even less so toward the beginning of her career. And the 80's feel (not in a good way) was made even worse by the awful Kenny G sax solos.
120
Changeling (2008,  R)
Changeling
An overrated drama; drawn-out when it could've ended numerous different times. The ending was just plain maudlin. Clint is becoming way too soft. John Malkovich, however, was brilliant as usual.
121
Blue Velvet (1986,  R)
Blue Velvet
This just in - David Lynch can now officially join my most over-rated director's club. Even though I knew this was a cult fave, my expectations were low after having seen "Wild at Heart" (the most over-rated movie of all time). I actually thought it was halfway decent, but the ending was just plain silly. And Isabella Rossellini's acting even made Laura Dern look good.
122
Lady in the Water (2006,  PG-13)
123
The Waterboy (1998,  PG-13)
124
Batman: The Movie (1966,  PG)
125
Bull Durham (1988,  R)
126
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors (1987,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors
Not a whole lot better than the crappy sequel.
127
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006,  PG-13)
128
Lost In Translation (2003,  R)
Lost In Translation
Watching two boring people be boring together...gripping. The fact that anyone was nominated for any award for this movie, let alone winning, is a crime.
129
L.A. Story (1991,  PG-13)
130
Great Expectations (1998,  R)
Great Expectations
not a fan at all of the cheesy modernization of mixing old stories and new music
131
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) (1966,  R)
132
The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976,  R)
The Man Who Fell to Earth
cult favorite that lacks it for me
133
Predator (1987,  R)
134
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (1954,  G)
135
Timecop (1994,  R)
136
Hollywood Homicide (2003,  PG-13)
Hollywood Homicide
Stupid. This movie is all across the board and ends up going nowhere.
137
The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear (1991,  PG-13)
138
Titan A.E. (2000,  PG)
139
Roxanne (1987,  PG)
140
Babe: Pig in the City (1998,  G)
Babe: Pig in the City
Despite some cute animals and moments, this one was kinda boring.
141
The Blues Brothers (1980,  R)
142
X2 (2003,  PG-13)
143
Rush Hour (1998,  PG-13)
Rush Hour
Just your typical stooge cop movie. The Lethal Weapon of the 90's.
144
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954,  G)
145
Gran Torino (2009,  R)
Gran Torino
I wanted a Taxi Driver ending - I didn't get it; disappointing.
146
Murder on the Orient Express (1974,  PG)
147
Beauty and the Beast (1991,  G)
148
Good Morning, Vietnam (1987,  R)
149
Serenity (2005,  PG-13)
150
Raging Bull (1980,  R)
151
The Game Plan (2007,  PG)
152
Chariots of Fire (1981,  PG)
153
The Blair Witch Project (1999,  R)
The Blair Witch Project
unfortunately they sucked me into the hype
154

for the most part i can agree with this list of over-rated, or just plain bad movies(is anyone giving "timecop" or "van helsing" props??)however i would urge you to give "the seven samurai", "the mission", and "raging bull" another viewing as these three movies all feature excellent direction, acting, and cinematography in my opinion. cheers!

i can agree with much of this, but SEVEN SAMURAI!!! thats crazy. indiana jones, millers crossing, and schindlers list are also masterpieces.
