I Heart Huckabees 1.0 Star
Can someone please explain to me what this movie was about as I was completely lost? It was a shame really because the cast list was brilliant. From the opening shot I didn't have a clue what the plot was about and had to give up on it in the end as I was utterly bemused.

The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed 1.0 Star
I am not the biggest fan of Martin Scorcese movies but I thought I'd give this movie a go as it won the Best Picture Oscar and had a great cast list . It's a shame that this movie has to rely on an overdose of violence and swearing as there are a lot of talented actors in this movie and they all end up as either cliched gangsters or constantly shout at each other. If this is entertainment then I'm missing something. A bit of a waste of time and talent.

The Reaping (2007,  R)
The Reaping 1.0 Star
A bit of a mismash of ideas that doesn't really work as a horror, thriller or drama. Hilary Swank puts in a fine performance but the script doesn't make any sense. If this was a thriller concerning Swank's character coming to terms with her family's deeath then this may have worked, though the inclusion of references to the biblical plagues is a little strange, though the scene with the locusts is handled well. A little bit of a weird mess.

The Magic Roundabout (Doogal) (2005,  Unrated)
The Magic Roundabout (Doogal) 1.0 Star
This may have worked as a 20 minute episode on TV but as a film it's just a bad idea. I saw this film as there was a great vocal cast on board with the likes of Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy and Ian McKellen but was a bit of a waste of time and talent. The jokes would probably not even entertain the kids who this film is aimed at as they are poor and the plot is as bad. The majority of the cast do the best they can but nobody can save this from being a bit of a disaster.

Serenity (2005,  PG-13)
Serenity 1.5 Stars
A standard sci-fi movie with zero thrills and bland characters. The action sequences are mainly the cast running around with guns or seen -it-before martial arts. The plot is non existent and to be honest I lost interest in what was going on before the first hour was up.

The Fountain (2006,  PG-13)
The Fountain 1.5 Stars
While there are some outstanding visual moments in this movie -it is just plain weird. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz give fine performances but their characters are lifeless. The ending of this movie just lost me. I didn't really get the message that was being conveyed.
