Not much to say about this movie. it was a terrible way to describe the tale of Beowulf. not nearly enough explained or progressed. Despite his best efforts, Zemeckis just didn't bring enough variety in this. it was so stiff and there was hardly any ...(read more)movement. some of the dialouge and action sequences did intregued me, but not enough to actually enjoy this movie. I just found it amazing how so little happened in 2 hours.
honestly, I wish this movie could have been more serious. Not many would expect this to turn out as a Comedy; it's mostly action the people saught out for in this, especially from the genre:"grind house". it just exajerated all the errors in grind ho...(read more)use films and turned them into a 3 hour parody. neither film had a point. they were both random and moronic... but they sure were entertaining. i just wish this wasn't a Parody
This movie was completely pointless. Terrible directing, story, and also quite random. A simple, laid-back, country man risks his life tryong to defend a briefcase of money that has no relevence to himslef agiaint a homocidle pychopath who - regardless wheather or not he gets the money - will kill that man becuase of his careless "deed". in addition, there were too many useless characters brought onto the screen which seemed like their only purpose is to gain 5 minutes of screen-time and then get killed-off. not to mention all those 'head-scratching' tactics that the country man had partake in to avade the killer. There were just pathetic and a little embarassing to watch. I strongly felt that this film was lacking suspense which is what is sought out for. A thriller that's not thrilling? It's nothing more than a half-baked idea released in a 2 hour depth. You'd think that the Coen brothers could pull off a project like this, but all that they did was conduct a movie with agrovating action and dialouge and too many disapointing and confusing 'twists' and 'turns'. Thank you Joel and Ethan for wasting my time.
One of the biggest disappointments of the movies of 2007. This movie was too long to even capture what it should've. almost nothing was acomplished within the first two hours and then the last hour seemed a bit rushed. throughout the whole movie there was nothing but low-class, childish jokes and random events. it felt like Gore and everyone else who worked on this film didn't think much of what they were doing. the most annoying part of the film would have to be it's ending. it just raises more questions and confusion.
The movie event 18 years in the making has finally arrived, and what a shame it is. It's a familiar trend of having a film based of a series fo awrie, but that's not what makes those movies a failure. What causes this is the finding of a plot. Since a series has many plots, turns, characters, segments, quotes, blah, blah, blah, etc... it makes it all the more dificult to find a plot strong enough to surround an entire movie. See, my biggest problem with The Simpsons Movie was the plot.
It had to substance, it felt like a bunch of monkeys typed up ideas for the movie, then one monkey did chose at random and picked what may have been the worst idea of the bunch. Seriously, what is so universally spectacular about a silo filled with pig crap being dumped into a lake that toxidyzes a town, which must be sealed in a dome, having the only escape be a sinkhole under a sandbox, then watching a family journey to Alaska to find out that they must return home to save their town from being destroyed, thus splitting ends and resolving the problem with a bomb? [I'll rephrase it].
To sum-up, it just didn't have enough of a satisfying plot. Oh, how dreading it was to sit through only 87 minutes. But the plot wasn't the only bad element. There were also too many cheap, ill-timed jokes. It's beyong belief how many times I rolled my eyes and yawned through out this...
It's really not that great of a movie. First off: It's a remake. Second: it went against what the original provided. Just cause it's modern day doesn't mean you need to show it off. They took advantage of electronics basically just destroying the original. It it was going to be remade, it could've at least been set in the same decade. The whole "game" aspect wasn't played out very well. Why people think Michael Caine was such a psycho in that... I'll never know. Jude Law was the true psycho. I knew it the second he took off his disguise. The ending was disappointing. Was it a blank or a bullet? I'm assuming blank because of how it startles him. Maybe he was frightened and fell off down the elevator. I'm only saying that because was no blood. By the end of it all, neither of them seemed to care about Maggie.
Ah, screw it. This movie sucked! It was such a disappointment. It lacked a good script, performance, and..."purpose"? I still find it hard to believe that Raimi thought that it would be a good idea to make a movie with no plot, lame dialog, terrible acting, random characters and scenes, and over-budgeted special effects that really didn't turn out so well.
When it somes to working with Depp, Burton sure ends up with a success. Quite the tatered tale. This film was scary, funny, and very entertaining. There was an exajerated about of gore. Where Shall I Began? This movie was just filled with scene after scene of dramatic passion. You could just feel the intensityo jump-off the screen. As the film goes on, your perspective of it changes. A simple man starts off with only one thing on his mind: OIL! Later on, he gets "son". Still, the only thing he cares about is oil. Slowly, his insanity elevates and eventually looses all control. While all this is happening, a priestly young lad insists on feeding off of the oil man's fortune to revive his beliefs for everyone to bask in. This is nothing but his greed leading him through. Anyway, the way the characters played it out though-out the film was simply incredible. so much detail and emotion was thrown into this amazing tale. Naturally, the acting was brilliant therefore the directing had it's unique spark as well. The positionng and placement of the enviorment only increased the astonishment of this film. P.T. Anderson pulled-of one hell of a project!
Ha ha! I could never take any of Bay's movies seriously... especially this one. The acting was horrendous, the story was awful - absolutely no where near the original plot of the television series, and to top it all off... I had to endure 2 1/2 hours of bad humor.
