To Sir, With Love (1967, Unrated)
PERFECT!! Touching, moving, real...uplifting and smart. poitier exemplifies cool, intelligence, and know-how as a teacher. He makes it seem easy because he can rbing over the emotional struggle within with control; he is able to impart wit and resolve to the students, whom it don't take too long to bring over to his message: it is all her for you to learn, this is the one moment that is for you and the rebelliousness is only an hindrance to more exciting and fufilling things now and to come! Excellent moie for everyone. |

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951, G)
Though old school in technology, and seemingy antiquated this film never ceases to bring the thrilling, hair-raising mood that shows our fear of the unknown. The suspense is electrifying as things are doen slowly and methodically with fanfare and dazzling movie FX. Though it is considered sci-fi, the elemental theme of man's distruct for anything alein to him is heighten and substantially affecting. We are curious and want to know about this novelty but we are able to keep our space because our instinct is to believe it a harm first, thus shot now ask later behavior. It also makes us very aware of our inadequacies and how trivial the group cliques we practice so diligently and rigorously, like nationalism, and gangs, etc are in the scope of humanity and its survival! For this reason, the film is a timeless classic; an opus that resonates with evryone on this earth-survival. |

Citizen Kane (1941, PG)
Avant Garde then...now the epitome of perfection, so timelss and engaging! It is the testimony of braveness and daring that visionaries usually overcome but are criticized for but "he who laughs last leaughs best". Welles is pure magic and stortelling so compelling, its the afterthoughts that get to you and like great literature, the art continues to penetrate you, making you feel & think. This is how it is beautiful too because of the visually hypnotizing nuances. It transfixes your inner sight on the story, one that has universally appealing themes of the wish for innocence and youthful happiness, those which cannot be bought. Money is not everything l belonging and love is! Its so ironic that Welles had to live such a incorrigible existence at one time in his life too; eventhugh it was after this movie. |

The Lady from Shanghai (1948, Unrated)
Great movie--still a thrill ven after many years. Suspensefull, jolting, romantic, sensual, aome good action and rather thought-provoking. Welles was really good in this role; mysterious and love struck, ruffled and somewhat desparate. hayworth was wonderful- she was gorgeous, sensual, seductive, challenging and intelligent. A well transferred plot; it will give you that thrill ride! A+ |
