To See: Recent Blockbusters

It's not often I want to see a Black & White flick, but seems like a very interesting story.

Everything you want from a historical epic. It's a long history lesson that remains gripping, with characters defending their honour in big battle scenes. Tom Cruise plays his favourite Maverick role and there's even a bit of Billy Connolly. Very enjoyable.

Peep show duo hit the big screen. Bound to be a disappointment.

Scenes with Jonathan Brandis, the kid from Seaquest DSV, were deleted leading to his suicide.

A taut psychological thriller between just two characters and mostly one scene that's not what you expect...

There's no better time to tell the tale of the Cuban revolution than on its 50th anniversary. However, this was not a tale well told. I found the movie to drag on with a consistent lack of focus. It was almost as if the director didn't know what exactly he wanted to say about the story and none of the scenes stand out as being particularly memorable.

Dave P says it's a classic that has the best ever treatment of time travel. Very complex.

Either this one or its prequel was recommended by Vesna (probably this one!)... and this one has that omnipresent Cypriot cinematographer too!

The same story as "Control" but gives the wider picture. Told, in a less serious manner, from the perspective of Tony Wilson, the owner of Factory Records, rather than Joy Division's Ian Curtis.
