A rampaging mummy ina old folks home? Sound super corny. but the title is sublime in its orignality

A unique and engaging indenpendent film meets your typical monster movie. the movie is about life and living in a old folks home, about legacies, about the human condition, about finding dignity, and somewhere in there a rampaging cowboy mummy. The main charcter Sebastian Haff is an aging man living in an East Texas rest home who belives he is Elvis Prieslty. The story is compellling, you start out feeling for poor deluded old Sebastian (played by Bruce Campbell!) for believing he is Evlis, but by the movies end you do end up believing/hoping he is indeed Elvis. Sebastian teams up with another nursing home resident Jack, who belives he is John F Kenndy

The Man from Earth
If you watched New Amsterdam, this is a lot like it, but much more thoughful and intelligent story about how a man who lives through lifes history and how he see's life verse how history records it. Very thought provoking and a must watch

The Cold Equations (1996,  Unrated)
The Cold Equations
well written in sci fi staring Bill cambell, no action per se but an amazing story and moving drama, in a compelling sci fi setting!

Cypher (2002,  R)
Cypher
This is technically more a spy thriller than sci-fi, but the story eventually evolves to have some decent sci-fi/fantasy themes. For a movie that never got theature time this movie is a amazing example of what can be done with a modest budget, and the perfect movie to impress your friends with your ability to find hidden gems (much less sci fi) in cinema. This would defintely be on our top 10 list if it had a stronger sci/fi/fantasy theme, but has to be edged off the top list purely because it doesn't fit solidly in the scope of what this site, and to the fans of sci-fi b cinimea. Worth a second viewing because of ithe maze of plot twists and story layers can be hard to keep up with, and enjoyment still holds up even if you know the surprises.
