The Escapist (2008, Unrated)brian cox in a exellent role as a old geezer in prison, seeing a possible escape plan coming into place and the guys he needs to get the plan done, a exellent prison film, the structure is great also, going forward in time to actuall escape, back to plan in planning stages, the obstacles inway, and fellow prisoners spoiling plans, brian cox in role that naturally would have gone to a younger man, shines in this, as do others, direction is well handled, and snappy, and a special mention to the score, a great use to move story forward, and in the final act a nice little twist that fits well and makes it more humen |

Rushmore (1998, R)
jason schwartzman srars as max fischer, a rebellious but gifted teenager going to a very privoliged private school, who spends his days putting on plays, starting up clubs, editors of school papers and many other things, but being expelled, hangs over him daily. when new teacher miss cross arrives, played by olivier williams, he falls for her, while at the same time strikes up friendship withmr, blume, played by bill murrey, who also falls in love with miss bloom, a great teen film, exellent performances all round, schwarzman, is superb, annoying but you care, murrey, great in these roles, williams, and of course brian cox, as the head master, great visuals, and a amazine soundtrack from the likes of the who, and many other 70s bands, a teen film for grown ups, most definatly |

Shoot On Sight (2007, R)
after the london bombings a couple of years ago, police had a shoot to kill, on terror/suicidal bombings, and here we see the result and paranoia of this, and a muslim constable brought in to investigate, such a incident, and his young nephew who may or not be involved in similer dealings, this films although i think, a fictionalised story, is based on some fact from a few years ago, and brings up some interesting points, of todays climate, and britains dealings in this area, it does have a tv made feel to it, but gets its points across well, with a good story going on, |
