Filmmakers dabbled in horror during the silent era, but it wasn't until the 1930s that studios realized how much money was waiting to be made in the genre.

The Bride of Frankenstein
Ok, this movie is not by any means perfect. It can be considered one of the best horror movies of all time by some, yet not a horror movie at all by others. I do consider this a great movie. Horror? No, because if horror means only for terror & shock falue, then this movie isn't considered that. It's better than that. I'd consider it a monster movie, or a creature feature.

I don't consider the monster a creature, no. He is not revolting or diabolic. He does not thirst for human blood or flesh, just a friend. Yet he is feared and hated.

The Frankenstein Monster is just a misunderstood creature longing for a companion. He's misunderstood. That's what makes him interesting. He is becoming more humane and developes a personalty in this film. That's what makes it more tragic when he dies at the end. So, you shouldn't really consider him a monster, just a misunderstood giant loathing the life he was granted.
