documentary looking back on artists in the late 80s early 90s, aroundthenewyork area, therei nspirations, and motivesfor being who they are in life, a interesting watch, and does a tidy job of getting in minds of the people

a good french drama, with kristin scott thomas playing french, also with french language, as a women coming to stay with her sister,12 years unacounted for to the viewer, but gradually you find out why, a interesting story with interesting charactors, and scott thomas,being english putting in exellent work, the story is interesting throughout, and acting moments well played

okay theres a lot wrong with this, so why 4 stars, well i saw it in the cinema, and in that respect it doesent disapoint, im sure if i watch it again on tv/dvd, it will be 3 stars at best, but the spectacle on show is breathtaking, some exellent jaw dropping moments and unlikje transformers 2 or dark knight, i dident get bored. at around 2 and a half hours, it sustains its momentumwith some set pieces that are unbelieveable, even silly, but expertly handled, the humen element is less sucessful, with annoying charactors but cusack is a joy, looking forward to 2012

like in eternal sunshine of the spotless mind,we see a world where theres a company specialising in brain work, here taking your soul and storing it, paul giamatti plays himself who takes up procedure when a play hes doing isnt working, and from here goes on a journey, without his soul, trying other souls and of course wanting soul back,but soul is stolen, giamatti is great here, playing up his self a bit, and on his status as not exactly a list, al pacino is the actor whos soul is wanted here,and many more actors after. if anything its not eternalsunshine in greatness down to direction, its not as inventive, but seems to borrow from kauffman, im not sure the sauce material, if its original or based on book, but do see influences, a enjoyable film throughout, especially for giamatti performance, check it out

following gran torino, another old man, taking law into his own hands, but where eastwood dealt with, the question of foreigners, and his dislike, but getting to like and ge on, here caine is fed up with his own kind and there total disrespect in hisarea, when his only close friend is murdered, he takes law into own hands,and with a back ground in special forces and northern ireland behind him, takes action, even though out of depth and breath. caine is exellent, aglimpse of get carter in there. the situations feel real, the hoodie kids genuinly realistic and scary, and showing the britain today. with the cops trying but not getting far. harry is told, but you were in northern ireland, yes he said, they were fighting for a cause. these kids are just bored. too true

french drama following a writer, his affair with a pretty upand coming weather girl, and another wealthy bachelor who takes a dislike to writer and plays for her affections, a typically fench story and setting, but entertaining to watch, francois berleand as the writer does good stuff here, and ludivine sagnier as the girl caught in middle is exelent,

a look at a special unit, patroling the notorious slums in rio de janeiro, more a special forces unit than policeforce, and we see two men joining up,from there jobs on the police force, as the coruption grows around everyone, this unit is not dirty. a entertaining film throughout, showing the coruption of this part of the world well, and poverty and criminals doing there thing, some exellent moments as we see coruption in action, and also the teams anguish at politics and on the job moments, some good acting from all concerned,and some nice touches in the direction

a interesting film throughout as a lonely young man, trying to get over a great night with a atractive young women,befriends a robot from the future 1 year later again on his birthday,with super humen powers, and robot skills she makes his life happier,and there is a reason she has contacted him. full of suprise moments throughout, romantic moments, some violence, and even a great sci fi, action last 20 minutes involving earthquake and the future, all directed with style. great acting from the leads to. full ofcharm and emotion

john boorman teams up again with brendan gleeson, as a wealthy dublin businessman,who starts to see a double of him self, events take a turn for the worse, when said double, doestake over his life, leaving him, trying to prove himself, with questions to be answered. gleeson is great to watch, and the story runs along nicely, with some great moments of drama

a good role for lost star dominic monaghan,and a look to it that takes you back to hammer horror, some nice touches throughout, andsome creepy moments

jim carrey gives a lot to his scrooge,as motion capture,and thedesign of him is superb,londonandanimation in general also looks great, things have been added to benefit 3d,and does feel out of place at times, the 3d is good at times, enjoyable

carey mulligan is exellent as the oxford hopefull,getting charmed by a older man played by peter sarsgaard, still in school she hastodecide if the relationship, is needed,with oxford so close, butwith himshowing herthebest time of her life,andher parents liking him, he could be the one,a charming 60s set london drama,and showing what it was like forwomen in those days, career or housewife

mcgregor and clooney are exellent together, in a interesting war satire,mcgregor is a bored reporter, wanting to get into irak, here through some fate set up earliar, he meets lyn, a former soldier of the first earth betallion, sort of hippy trained andnon lethal techniques,brought into us army in the 80s, hes in irak also, a bit unclear why,sothe two hook up, and go on a adventure,and throughflash backs see how this came to be, a interesting story, possibly true, and in parts funny,clooney reliable as ever,and mcgregor,shock horror good as a american, the story is engageing throughout. with a great cast. bridges, and spacey rounding it off. another great thing and funny thing here. cloney telling mcgregor that they were jedis, and mcgregor once a jedi knight of cours, trying to get a grasp of this concept, makes the film film funnier, just because of the casting ofewen mcgregor, exellent

from the mind of diablo cody,who wrote the really good juno, comes another winning script, amanda seyfield plays a geeky girl,whos has a bit of a crush on her sexy schoolmate played exellently by megan fox, but one night her mate,while making it witha up and coming indieband, disapears into the night,and reapears all bloody and acting rather strange and strangethings happening, she has turned into a demon women,due to the band trying to sacrifice her for fae and fortune, as indie bands do. and now she must feed, prefably on young high school males, now its up to the gekky one to get sence ofall thisand put a stop, to it, or not let her feelings destroy things, like heathers some 20 years before, the script by diablo is razorsharp liketarentino, diablo, has a signiture, and throughout, you see her words comeout, speaking the mind of todays youth, the filmis also a great atempt at teen horror, and although not all out gore, there are some moments, andcertainly the best ofthe bunch these.days. fox and seyfield, play there roles well, and shows foxisjust not a object to look at, andthe band also, tell me dont you think they are inspired by the killers, especially the lead singer. so much crap teen horrors come out these days, its good to se one can come along that has great writing andhorror elements

enjoyable caper,and a fine leading role for hardman tamar hassan, and interesting idea as a guy has to buidup a 100 grand from nothing in 24 hours, aided by ofcourse his good friend played by cockney geezer andnational treasure himself, dany dyer. some good moments and sometimes logic out the window, but never looses its entertainment value

shot for a a parent 45 english pounds, on camcorders and mobile phones,we see britain overrun by zombies,and colin recently bitten, now a zombie walking the streets of london, with a past telling him to go somewhere, a fresh look at the zombie genre,and the viewpoint from a zombie is certainly diferent, the low budget on show, you see some interesting moments and production, and the pace and story is enjoyable,and dark and moody, exellent soundtrack also. this is director mark price calling card,and certainly looking forward to anything else he does in fuuture

shane meadows follows up somerstown with another slice of british life, here concerning 2 guys, one arap artist wannabee,and another aloudmouth guy taking charge,as they are invited to aarctic monkeys gig, with a chance to perform, while bbeing filmed for a film,again like somers town, a very slim running time which flies by, and paddy considine doing great work, ful ofenergy and dialogue, and like meadows filmsbefore a great improvised script flowing, it be goodto see more of these guys

2 gays have to look after a young boy after the father doesent take a interest, a comic look with hints of drama,its handled well,some interesting momentslike the kid following his keepers ways, and the film never gets over dramatic

entertaining animation,and good charactors,with a cracking first half, it looses it a littleduring climax, but itsworth a watch,

if your a fan of director wes anderson, he of such films as rushmore, royal tenubums and life aquatic, youll love this. all andersons trademarks are here, from the holding of the book, telling title at beginning, right through, catchy soundtrack, pans across, dry observations, and ecentric charactors, and dialogue coming from there mouths, its all present, anderson has magically, transplanted his world to animation, and stop motion too, george clooney as the fantastic fox is well suited,and a great supporting cast, including, meryl streep, bill murrey,, a exelent jason schwarzsman, who almost steals there show, the story is engaging, and although young kids might be put of by andersons style, lots of tallking, during beginning, it does turn into a adventure, but maintaining his wit and style, its been a long long time since i read the roald dahl novel, i was a kid, and read all his books,so cant say how much is changed, but as a film, i liked it a lot

ive always liked jeremy piven, from films like judgement night, and his small parts in mate john cusacks films, to the exellent entourage, here he gets a leading role,andhe makes it better than what it should be, some okay comedy moments help it along,a annoying will ferrell cameo,doesent crash it,or even some week jokes, as some good ones are around the corner,some nice observations on the used car business

nazi zombies, who needs them, as a bunch of medical students going for a break in the mountains find out, a slow start and crappy annoying charactors, gives this a slow start, butonce it gets going, theres great moments,andthe gore and violence is pretty inpressive, a charactor they chance on, explains why there could be nazi zombies walking around, but after that its all mayhem, death and blood, yes they could just be zombies walking around in the snow, being nazis doesentreally add anytthing, and indeed to story, but its diferent i guess,

interesting look at a sex adict, living her life, looking for sex, and her need, we also see her try to live a life with a man,she has fallen in love with, and although he doesent satisfy, she loves him. the film is a good drama,and belen fabra does good work,a lot of sex in this too. she goes ona interesting journey,especially last act,a good watch

juliet binoche plays a protector escorting brother and sister from paris to venice, to meet upwith there father,eho has had very secret dealings in goverment things, john turtorro plays a hitman with motives not clear, quite entertaining, and the three are a good watch, tuetorro isexellent as usuall, playing on events around september 2001, which is pretty relevent

rob zombie again brings his style to the franchaise like his 1st remake, taking events further,as one year later michael myers returns to finish what he started, some exellent and brutal gore on show,as people buy it, although i cant see this going any further, 2 is enough

melissa george, turnsup to her friends yaught,and they sail off for the day,they get caught in a storm,and board a deserted ship,and thisis where events turn weird,for her in particular, theres someone else on ship she may be connected to,a twisted thriler,which makes use ofits location very well, with a great pace,and tension,the story goes nicely, and always keeps you guessingandwhen it all makes sence, its cool to think about it,

terry gilliam visuals on full show here, with some exellent moments, when ledger died during filming, it was not known what was going to happen, but gilliam braiinstormed, tweked the script a bit,and called in jude law, colin farrell, and johnny depp, close friends of ledgers,to finish scenes, of his charactor, on otherside of parnassus's mirror,and it works great, the three getting ledger well, some amazing moments here, reminded me of gilliam films like baron monchausen, and stuff from monty python,the story isengageing throughout, and never dull, another slice of gilliam

the rolling stones wantedto put on a free gig in california, heres the results, at a time just after woodstock, theshow was put onat a speedway ground, outside san francisco, and over 300.000 peopleshowed up, here we see the stones put on the show, we also see the events during the day,the organisation of event,or lack of it. watching the violence and hippy love brewing. the hells angels security,probely part of the blame, scenes of beatings,by the group,and fans misbeaving. the outcome of event was a fan dying from a stab wound,what was the cause its hard to tell, but there is clearly a blame pushed towards security, the documentary all footage shot is captivating throughout,and with footage of stones away fromevent,watching it back,is good to see, mick on stage telling audience,calmdown,and many other moments make this documentary a great watch,

robert downey junior is exellent as a journalist getting to know a down and out homeless person, jamie fox with a passion for playing music on streets of l.a, the two get to know each other, and lessons are learned, welldirected by wright, after the exellent atonement, getting a feel for l.a. and a bit of a thing to say about homelessness in l.a, and being based on true story, his story is interesting

like ghost town, although that was better, gervaise keeps it going,and makes it so much better than it should be. any gervaise fan will like this, and forgive some things, the story isnt perfect, but sometimes concept does grab you, and is funny, and sometimes, it doesent work, but the comedy to drama moments work i guess,and some amusing cameos help the film along,

paul rudd, gets a great main role here ,in what acts like a comedy drama, but for friendship, as he plays a soon to be married man, with no close friends to speak of, so sets of on a quest to find one, but when hopes are dashed, meets a seeminly cool guy played by jason segal, a friendship is formed, the two leads bounce off each other well, with segal who was exellent in forgetting sarah marshall, having another good role, the aproach concerning a lguy with no close friends is handled very well, and was refreshing to watch, even down to the sloppy romantic comedy ending usually reserved for those films, but for best mates, some exellent humour make this a entertaining watch

in 2004 moore took to the road to stop bush getting qa second term in the white house by travelling america trying to get the so called slacker non voters to cast there vote for oponents against bush, qas we all know, it dident work, and bush got in, like his other. a bit diferent from other docs hes done, just folowing the events, but does bring 7up a few thoughts, the american public with there go yea atitude gives the inpression, they think there the only country, that votes in there leader, like its unique, well its not, my country does it, like many others, and t5he film misses its little films within a film, that farenheight 911 and bowling for columbine did very well, but also, we see moore angry here, on his crusade, it does get to him, and watch out for my fav group R.E.M standing up for the cause

a interesting role for steve cogan, here playing a american,a failed actor taking a job at a highschool, who puts on plays based on films,and esteem running low,creates hamlet 2 to put on, coogan does good here, a bit strange hearing his american twang at first, but once in hes fine, a interesting story, but beware, the play hamlet 2 showed at end is vomiting bad and cheesy

luc bessons first english language film, alsostarring his mate jean reno,the film followes 2 competive divers,and there lives away fromthe water asrenos competiter falls in love with rosanna arquette, the film still holds upi n places to this day, it looks great, musicstill stands out also, althoughstory is a bit daft sometimes, its a good watch

viggo mortensen is a germanwriter in the 30s nazi germany being seduced into the regeme, due to his book he wrote some years earlier, aparently hitler was a admirer,and wanted to have the writer on there team, the filmlike many others recently, showing not all germans were nazis,and were caught up in events, his jewish mate played by jason issacs shows a side to this,and how his life is turned up side down, mortensen puts good work in here

a okay role for andy macdowell,as a widow looking after her kids, and starts to feel her dead husband is haunting her trying to reach her, never more inspiring than a tv movie,but theres good performances, and tim roth as the dead husband doing good flashback stuff, some creepy moments, but nothing to harsh, its enjoyable

charming tale of 2 people in love getting ready for the rest of there lives,a baby on the way, and no real family around, decide to go to various places around the country where friends or relatives live, to see where maybe a better place to live, so off they go, and discover themselves as a couple, some great moments watching them interact with the people they think are what they need, john krasinski, and maya rudolph are great together, ful of charm and touches of comedy, but also, showing a couple worrying about a future without each other, directed by sam mendes, a diferent look at a relationship after revelutionery road, a great pace to the film, and music to help out story, a touching film

nick love tackles football hooligism once again after the interesting football factory, and based on the 1988 tv movie of the same name starring gary oldman, taking a bit of a diferent aproach,as that charactor is still a focus,but mainly focusing ona young lad getting in with the gang, superb 80s setting, where bright coloured, tracksuits were the rage. andthe dresssenceis a major part of the story, bex the leader, being guy who sees it as a statement, dom sees this, a young lad being taken in and following his ways, a engageing story following doms rise and the crews dealings with a rival firm, all told nicely the80s faithfully recreated,and a superb 80s soundtrack, all actors give it there best,and, when violence urupts its engageing, not the most violent of the football hooligism films to come from the u.k,but for me overall one of the best

from the guys who did the crank films, gerald butler is a conficted felon in the not too distant future having taken part in a game, where conficts are used like a player in a video game, shooting his way to survive, through a mind control device, once hes getting closer to his target of thirty plays he is to be killed anyway, some good action and violence throughout, the directors again bringing that crank edge to action and story, there are dull bits, and sometimes story doesent totally convince, and i feel there was more story not seen, but it is enjoyable, full of action and carnage, and perfect saterday night viewing

a low budget effort, diy style, making great use of what they got. a signal from tvs make people start killing one another,and no one trusts no one, and when a group of these peope end up together, there minds turn, the et up is pretty good,watching the attacks begin, for a d.i.y efort its pretty inventive, it doe dip a bit in 2nd half,but teres enoug good moments and humour to keep it going, some acting stands out and some doesent, a pretty good effort

news footage tellls us, after years of a alien space craft sitting over joanesberg south africa, eventually dying aliens are found on board, and eventually being refugees in district 9, just below ship, where alien inhabidents are housed and detained,and againafter many years of crime and violence to city, its to be moved out of town, out of sight and out of mind, its here where, the agency involved in keeping control, are to go in and start proceeding with movement, and one officer, newly in charge, getting more than he bargained foe, when events go wrong, and he must go on the run from, goverment agency, and geting in with the people, i,e the aliens, he once controlled. this film is a breath of science fiction fresh air, like other film,, moon, this year, another low budget film, sticking finger up to hollywood. neil blomkamps direction is amazing, mixing first person news reports with film, some terrific action throughout, real energy to it, a great performance from sharlto copley in a main role, hes a great watch, the aliens are superb here, fitting in perfectly, even in harsh sunlight, top work there, the violence is on show too, people exploding from alien technology is a joy to watch, and with quite a bit of action throughgout, never a dull moment, even the robot suit, fight towards end, will give people getting bored with bays transformsrs,something to cheer, a great story throughout, and visually inpressive, andeven though its so oviously the apartait troubles transplanted to aliens, it doesent spoil, and a relevent film to watch, the film also leaves a lot of questions, not only to what goverments are doing, even though the dealings with alien weaponry is a big plot point. and what will happen next, heres to district 10 i say

the 2nd part to mesrines crime spree, focusing on last years before hes brutally murdered, hereshowing his times injail, escaping, and getting more celebrity, which becomes his downfall, again caselisbrilliant to watch, and the film runs along nicely

vincent cassel, does great work as famous french criminal, jacques mesrine, the first ina two part film, here showing his start into the underworld, andgoing on the run, cassel, gets into his charactor well,a good story is told,and some nice set pieces throughout

guy loves girl, girl doesent love boy, ina tale set over 500 days and a guys fasinationand love for a girl named summer, hence the title, and told structurly out of order, going fromday 34, to 400, scene to scene, showing, happiness,l ove dispear, forming a story, joseph gordon levitt, is terrificas the love torn guy, and zooey deschanel, again is superb asthe girl, who doesent believe in love, but going in toa relationship. the story goes at a terrific pace, and the jumbling of days make it enjoyable, the mix of scenes really work, great soundtrack too, lots of montages and scenes using the score to help along story, a nice alternative love story

mchael sheen isfasinating to watch as english football manager bryan clough, here looking at his days at derby,and leeds united, and his demons concerning him wanting to better leeds former boss, both at derby, and then when hetakes charge of leeds. the 60s and early 70s is recreated, the story while never going more than a tv movie, although released in theatres, isentertaining enough, and of course sheen shines, after playing, blair, frost, hes certainly making a name in this type role

judd apatow directs his third feature after knocked up, and40 year old virgin, and once again, some cracking dialogue, and male relationships on show, adam sandler puts in a performance almost on par with his barry egan from p.t andersons masterpiece, punch drunk love, playing a charactor not far from him self, a hollywood big shot, whos made his name in dumb comedies, and getting some bad news that hes dying, thtough this, and his stand up, which he decides to take up again, he meets a struggling stand up, played by seth rogen, here he takes the struggling artist on as a joke writer and assistant, a working friendship is born as the two, try to lead there lives, with troubles on both sides, rogen and sandler are a joy to watch throughout, full of humour and crude jokes, very funny to watch, yet great drama and direction from apatow, also great turns from joana hill, and jason shwartsmann, as rogens house buddys, and also eric bana putting in some great, and amusing work, towards end. the film is long in lenth, but never dull or boreing, and comedy moments sprinkled throughout, sandler showing his dramatic,and comedic side well, im moments the film lifts you up, and some great music adding to emotion. judd apatow, is certainly a director/writer to watch

lars von tier, tries to offend, ina story of loss,as a couple tryto get over the death of there child,and go to a cabin in the woods to comfront the fears the wife has, it hassome good moments but also very bad at times, but you go with it, and willemdafoe is watchable,but watch this film for charlotte gainsburg,who plays the wife,shes the best thing about this,especially the last 30minutes or so

jeremy ranner, who ive noticed in the past, is exellent here as apart of a bomb squad in irac, doing a tour, risking there lives tackling bombs, and gunfire, whilequestioning why this,although he is a wisecracking show off, and cares a lot, the film looks great, and some tense and entertaining moments throughout, just one scene doesent belong concerning a friendship blossoming, then its concequences, but its over before you know it, and back to drama and action, a interesting look at the conflict

phoenix has said this is his last film, and although no classic, ithas its moments, hes a good watch throughout, with paltrow giving support now and then, a good andengageing story throughout, with a good ending to finish things off

tarentino brings his long delayed passion project to the screen, and with it comes his dialogue, music, look, and violence weve come to expect, im sure his genuin fans will get this film, although people going in after seeing posters and trailors may not,its not the basterds on a mission film they would expect, for a lot of the film they along with pitt are sidelined, but thats by no means a bad thing, firstly theres the jew hunter, col hans landa, exellently played by christoph waltz, tracking down jews and wanting the basterds captured. then theres the story of a runaway jew, who escaped landa, and years later running a cinema in paris, being asked to stage a premier which will be attended by hitler, again this role brilliantly played by melanie larent, showing talent in a tarentino film, remenisant of thurmun. all stories linking up for fantastic finally. brad pitt, shows once again, hes a great actor, giving a weight to film, even eli roth, the cabin fever director, as one of the basturds, putting in great work, especially at end. it could be argued like a lot of other tarentino films talking could be cut down, but it does work and adds to film. like kill bill, a great score has been found by using sources from other films, it really sets a tone, throughout theres great tension, just from people talking, and of course tarentino violence, this film also is probely tarentinos funniest, not a comedy but moments to laugh at from the way people react and do and say, and when it all comes together for climax it doesent disapoint, full of all the above ingredients, tarentio along with death proof, and kill bill this decade, has shown he can move away from the crime films of l.a during the nineties, andi look forward very much to what he does next

potter rolls out another film, and again loike others its a 4 star rating, ive not seen a classic potter yet, but there again, ive not seen a crap one. they are what they are. one last stop now before the two part finally next year,

sam rockwell, puts in a terrific performance, as a employer of a major coperation, harvesting the moon to provide electricity to earth, doing it alone, with only his faithful computer to aid him, andnearing his end of contract, of 3 years, but bad visions, causes him to crash, and when awokend, finds himself having to deal with another him, a exact model, why is he there, what happend at the crash, and, is he a clone,are all questions he has to answer, this film is very well made, thestory engageing from the fantastic opening credits, right through to the end credits, rockwell plays two charactors, who are the same person, but adds so much depth to each, and the interaction between both isso great to watch, great use of effects to get them together also, lots of interactions, the music is exellent also, and kevin spacey puting in great vocal work as gerty the robot, a film very 70s in its style for me, and, 2 films, soloris, and silent running, being 2 films you should see, if you havent, a great suprise for 2009

the wes craven classic from the 70s, and recently a well made remake was done, a typical 60s and 70s aproach to filmaking is used, with some superb if dated music cues,the acting is a little off sometimes, and its low budget shows throughout, but the story is great, and, does differ from its remake,not in plot but circumstances, and maybe a little more shocking

brian cox in another winning role as a small town shop keeper, while fishing with his loyal dog, gets hasseld by 3 youths, and eventually, one of them shoots his dog, off he goes,after tracking him down,toget a explanation,but after kid denies it in front of rich father, he wants proper answers, and what starts with seeing what the law says, turns to getting him beyond the law,and tactics, what feels like a tv movie is well made, it runs along nicely, its well directed, and cox commands the screen, especially in one telling scene, like clint in grand torino, hes not taling any shit, just a little lessracism

mena suvari is good in this, shes been away for awhile in my eyes after showing promise inboth american pie, and american beauty,and some indies after, here she plays a young lady who knocks over stephen rea,he goes through her windscreen, but she drives home, leaving him there,and worried, gets back to her life, with him lying bleeding, both leads are great, the story has some nice touches throughout, and a ending, that works

a lot better than i expected, jack black and michael cera make this watchable,as both actors do what they do quite well, some funny moments throughout, and although most of the religion stuff is no patch on monty python, i think they certainly watched a bit before going on to write this, it is entertaining,and moves along quite nicely

johnny depp seems to be enjoying playing dilinger here, a well told story, following dillinger, as he escapes from prison, and along with his gang robbing banks, as a national manhunt led by fbi agent, played by christian bale, the film looks great, and mann using dv cameras, adding a lot, anda night time gunfight at a hideout in the woods being the highlight, other moments add to the drama also, bale plays another brooding charactor, while depp has fun, 2 scenes, one ina movie theatre, watching his wanted poster on screen, and another where he goes to the fbi office conducting his case, shows the tension, a great 30s setting, with nice touches, and all round great acting

not the fairytale you know or love, more inspired id say, you certainly can see the storys influence, a young man has a car crash, and ends up at this house in the woods, and once meeting the seeminly perfect family, cant get away, he tries, but the forest traps him in, and theres more to family than meets the eye, a great little chiller from the east, some nice touches and moments, and great performances, especially the three kids vital to story, it looks great, very tim burton at times

anvil were to make it big in the eighties,with the likes of bon jovi, metallica and many others, but never did, making over 13 records to this day, but certainly not raking it in and here we see them doing there day jobs,and a spinal tap like tour around europe, we see the highs and very lows of this troubled band, its very entertaining to watch them live the dream, or what there is of it, and looking to the future wit a new album. there passionate about there music and especially being in anvil

a look at the human trade thats going on, here we see mexico and a group being taken from mexico city to new jersey in the u.s,where auctionswill be held, and we follow one mexican boywhois on the trail as his sister has been taken, and a u.s cop played by kevin kline helping out for reasons of his own,the subject is interesting, and shows how it could possibly be, there are some hollywood elements thrown in, but it alladds up to good stuff

a interesting look at a group of radicals during 1960s germany, protesting out against americas involvment in vietnam,and especially there ocupation in germany as bases for there preparation,what starts as protests to the streets turns into bombings and murder, they were germanys most wanted, the film with great detail takes us through a groups beginnings and getting in too deep, showing the 1960s through to the 70s where events became bigger and bigger, and inprisonment for most of the people, the story is well told, lots crammed in its two and a half hours, and lots of action, bombs being set of as part of there attack, all performances are good especially moritz bleibtreu,as the guy in control, another filmabout germanys past that isnt nazis and killing jews

what apears to be a documentary on a group of teens in warsaw a middle america town, but clues give it away this is actually actors or non actors, working under a loose script, or thought out actions before hand, but what ever it is, its entertaining, as we follow the kids through there last year of high school,and thinking about college, the highs and lows of high school life, the actors/real life people, whatever they are are genuin, and not like you see in hollywood movie, this is part of the charm as you watch the whinny kids go about there day, some are annoying, some just sad,and some,,bitches, all the events you get in hollywood highschool films make it in here, but with authenticity, if this is fiction of course, if not,ainteresting doc

a young couples daughter has cancer, and they are given option to concieve a test tube baby so that there daughter can begiven life saving treatment in the future, cut to the presentand the test tube daughter all grown up has concerns whena kidney is needed,andthrough a lawyer triesto block the parents desision,family heartbreak and a lot of crying followes, this film tries to pull at the heart strings a lot, and certainly feels like a disease of the week tv movie, but good performances fromall concerned bring it up a level, abigil breslin who we saw in little miss sunshine is good, as is sofia vassillieva as dying daughter, at times a lot of syrup is poured all over this, but its enjoyable, and at times sad

from the creatures of little miss sunshine, a filmsharing many elements,and of course the word sunshine, amy adams puts in another winning role, if a bit whinny, and alanarkin has good stuff in a role quite similer to his little miss sunshine performance, but yet again, its emily blunt, who steels the show, great to watch, both humorous and emotional, as the down on her luck sister. the story is enjoyable as they set off on there new venture, and situations great to watch,

a young paul dano performance, remember him the brother in little miss sunshine, and exellent as eli in there will be blood. hes exellent here too as a young lad living around the long island expressway, the lie of the title, when he gets i with another troubled kid again exellently played by billy kay, robbery is on the cards,but also some sexual awakenings, but to hisfriend not women. when some guns are stolen on one of there heists, he is turned in by his buddy to the owner again played exellently by brian cox, but this guy is a bit of a kiddy fiddler and gives him options, with his best friend now runaway, he strikes up afriendship with the dirtry old man. exellent performances all round fkay danoandcox are superb. and the direction from michael cuesta is very indie, and looksgreat, great music also,a great teen film dealing with inportant issues

2 great performances from the 2 leads, as they talk over dinner, about life and meanings, both actors havegood lines to chew on

a quick remake of 2007 spanish film REC, relocated to los angelesl, a faithful remake keeping and capturing the original, from the handheld camera set up, to the location, its all faithfully retold, with some nice touches in extra scenes that although not adding anything vital, it is a little added scares. the acting although not as memorable as original, there all good, the only downside here being for fans of original, theres no shocks involved, thats how faithful i see it, andfor people who havent seen REC, and snobby about not wanting to watch subtitles, its okay for now, but seriously, check out the original

this would get a nice 4 star rating, but two action sequences where a vampire monster atacks our two girls is awfully done the effects are really bad,and notwell executed, oncewas bad enough but when it came back, i was disgusted, the story it self is very stylish concerning a vampire good girl, exellently played by jeon ji-hyeon, killing for goverment spooks her fellow monster,whilewaiting for the showdown with the foe who kiled her father, some exellent fight scenes, throughout, full of samuri swordplay, jeon ji hyeon, loks great in her sailor outfit, giving a look thats maybe iconic,the film is wel directed giving the 1970s seting authenticity,especially army base school scenes, while the fight scenes, production looks great, also settingb up for more adventures, hopefully this will happen, as its based on a anime cartoon, theres lots of places to go, but please next time save some money for monster effects

another great korean film, as a call girl boss, is loosing his girls, he suspects a young client, a big barny in the street has both men arested,and young man confessing to killing 12 girls a case they are on, so the call girl boss goes ona frantic hunt to track his girl down while young man is in custody, a well made thriller, some good moments, throughout, some humour and action thrown in to good effect

a south korean film very much inspired by the classic the good the bad and the ugly, with some great eastern action, leading the story of a bandit robbing a train and a map to buried treasure just as a ruthless gang are to rob that exact map,and a bounty hunter on his trail, what follows is a entertaining action adventure, great stunts and set pieces,and a little comedy value, all leads are both charming and ruthless, and great to watch

john woo goes back to his homeland after hollywood disapointments, and a career not showing his talents to direct the reported most expencive chinese production in history, and you see ths expence up there on the screen, a stunning specticle and great story,as a ruler from the north vows to concour the southlands, and the southlands rulers banding together to stop the warlord in his quest, hugh and entertaining battles makethis a winner on the big screen, stunning set pieces displaying the asian way to do action set pieces, is displayed exellently, the tortoise defence and the climatic battle two exellent examples, the story of the battle field is well told and engageing, at around two and a half hours its never dull, even away from the action, and with great effects to show the power and size of forces involved, it helps a lot, this has aparently been cut down froma aparently four and a half hour cut, and i am willing to sit through this to see if its any better, john woo has finally lived up to his reputation as one of the best action directors, and showing hard boiled and the killer were no flukes, johnwoo,,,,stay in asia

okay sequel, some great effects on show,and action but also it all gets down to robots hitting each other, which gets a little tyresome at times and the plot, not that great, the score as in most of bays films is pretty dull which did get on my nerves, to much going on here

ive not seen wes cravens original 70s shocker, but it was good to see he had a producers hand in this remake, the hills have eyes turned out to be a great remake, and this is pretty good too, a great first act where we see 2 girls in danger, somehorrific and graphic scenes follow, then on to the house of the title,for some tense moments and squeemish moments, as the bad guys of the first act meet people in common with the girls. a well made film, when theres a lot of crap out there

a terrific performance from steve everts as eric a over the hill postman and avid man united fan, especially for one of there greatest players[eric cantona] life is getting him down, what with contact with his ex, and his son getting involved with crime, he needs a hero, and thats what happens cantona, all in erics mindcomesgive him guideance, a cracking drama from ken loach, full of authentic acting from all concerned, and nice moments with the two erics. atypical kitchen sink drama from the u.k, somesolid drama, but also in some escenes nice comedy

exellent black comedy horror, certainly influenced by shaunof the dead, but adds so much more on its own, a bunch of lads led by ever reliable danny diar head off to a small town to help pal played by this is englands stephen graham, get over his divorce, but once there all is not what they expected, and before long a crazed bunch of zombies are trying to kill them, the diference here is, its all women, a fun film, with lots of zombie slapstick, the guys are great together,some great gore and horror moments, very tounge in cheek, a film certainly commenting on the way ladys liketo control there men, andmen just need there space, certainly a lot more going on under the service, danny dyer once again showing his act is a great watch.

a brilliant comedy, and something diferent and done well, full of outrages moments, crude humour throughout and situations done exellently,and also exellent casting,with the comedy from the guys coming across well, whats great about this film is the fact that apart frommaybe one security video, we dont see the events of the night before and all the situations on show are the aftermath, you are certsainly in with the guys as to whats gone on, and the situations that arise are very funny, this could have been badly done but todd phillips the director has done something special

emily mortimer andwoody harrelson are 2 american travellers, travelling by train from china to russia,and get involved with drug dealers, a well made thriller, which never goes the way you expect,keeps you guessing till the end, with situations that thrill you. mortimer is exellent as the wife who gets herself in a situation, and kingsley is always great, the harsh winter of russia adds something, and the train setting used for most of the film is used well

not a follow up to city of god, but set in the same world and same type charactors. a interesting story as we follow 2 lads and there involvment with rival gangs, like city of god, the place depicted looks a terrible place,which comes across well

panic room, with a touch of disturbia,then add a bit of sam raimi influence, janssen is a convicted murderer out of prison and living back in the house where she killed her husband a few years before, but as she settles in she finds there is a presence in the house,nd its her dead husband out for a little revenge, his ghostly spirit being pretty violent with her. this film i dident expect much from,so it was a nice suprise to watch,jansenn is a good watch, and moments throughout very watchable, a great death scene a highlight, yes some effects are dodgy, but the film usesthe plot and devices well

1970s setting french drama following 2 brothers, one a cop, the other a criminal freshly released from jail, the cop gets on with his brother and helps him get started again, but with life on the outside hard, will it be a matter of time when his own ways start again. the 70s setting is authentic, with a great soundtrack throughout, and the story while at times conveniant and a lot of events linked, engageing, the two leads are worth watching,while the rest of the cast are too. a good little french crime film

remember spiderman 2 when doc oc attacks the surgeons trying to save him, sam raimi directed like he was back on the evil dead set, it was what we loved about raimi, well now hes back to doing that, no bruce campbell here, but alison lohman takes his place as a movie punchbag, playing a young bank assistant, who gets on the wrong side of a poor old gypsy women, who puts on her a curse, in which consists ofthree days of torment, then finallybeing dragged to hell, a frightening opening set in the past demonstrates this at work, and sets up well whats in store, as the torment starts, lohman is tossed punched, thrown up on, and all manner of funny and disturbing images, from sick getting into her mouth to being thrown bruce campbell style across the room, raimi has great fun here, the film is full of shocks, and a great charactor in the gypsy women doing her business, raimi certainly knows where to put the jumps and great use of sound,and even silence, the film certainly has a sence of horrors from the past, and at times a roger corman vibe. the film never realy drags, although some acting bis a bit off, but i think thats intentional. heres hoping raimi likes it here and maybe a sequel or two, before he gets back to spiderman

phillip seymour hoffman, has a great role here, in the new charlie kauffman script,which kauffman is also directing, it is as you expect a strange one, both confusing and provoking, as hoffmans charactor a poor soul, for some weird reason, atempts to put on a play of his life, setting in a vast warehouse that seems to hold his town,so over many years, as he grows old, his play grows. yes its weird, but get with it,theres much to be found, some heart provoking scenes from hoffman, and funny scenes,as other versions of him self are hired, along with great support from the likes of samantha morton and emily watson, i wasent 100% where this was going and maybe i still dont, but im still thinking about it, and thats what counts

a great true story, if maybe changed in places to make it more exiting, john sturgess, again in another great acting role after last years across the universe, as abrainy m.i.t student brought into a group of students run by teacher kevin spacy, to count cards in vegas, with the game blackjack, not a illegal activity, but frowned upon by the casino business, reluctant at first, but the prospect of getting harvard tutition out of winnings, money he hasent got, hes in, and as spacy promises, money is made, but will the dream last, and downtimes start working its way in. a well directed film, really getting into the finer points of blackjack and the scam they are playing, vegas scenes are nothing new, but look great, carrying on where oceans 11 films finished, showing the city as a dazzling time, but bad times around the corner, spacy is back on form in a supporting turn, but a great charactor, laurence fishburn alo as a old school security guy, catching on to the scheme

better than the disasters that were parts 2 and 3, but missing a lot that made the first a good watch, the females are wasted, and watching paul walker and diesil is ok but not great, some nice car stuff throughout, and some silly stuff thrown in

im not a star trek fan, and seen maybe 2 next generation episodes, but seen all the films, all enjoyable to some degree, but was very much looking forward to this, firstly because its a reboot, and jj abrams was involved, i knew hed do something with it, and it is very entertaining , from spok and kirks early days to the gathering on the enterprise, its all done well, the younger cast taking on the iconic roles do really well, and all gel great together, chris pine, as kirk, i liked but zachary quinto as spok was superb throughout. the story is interesting and keeps you gripped, and lots of action to keep those starwars fans at bay, this film certainly gives the starwars prequels a kick up the ass, as to how they should have been done

no not read the novels, and very suprised how much i enjoyed it, avoiding at the cinema, and catching up on dvd. a take on vampires that seems fresh, at least to me, as a family of vampires live in a small community, turned vegetarians, kristen stewert plays new girl to town, who gets a cold reaction from young vampire played by robert pattinson, he ses that she is diferent in that with ll his powers cant read her mind, unlike everyone else, and wants to avoid her, but the atraction is to strong and the two connect and fall in love, him showing and telling her how he being a vampire is not a good situation, and her still wanting to be with him, a vampire film for teens, the set up, which in part is, they can go outside in the day, this due to the gloomy grey and rainy skies, sometimes doesent hold up fully, but i go along with it, the story is engageing, although the third act where, danger lurks for her, looses it a bit, and more thriller territory, but its fine, now looking forward to the 2nd part, this year

enjoyable, tells a good story of logans past, and how he came to be, with some great turns from other charactors in the x men universe, gambit and deadpool, being stand outs in small roles. hugh jackman fits perfectly back in the role, showing the rage of wolverine, the story im guessing comic book set in stone, is interesting, and plays well, with some action throughout that satisfies, the film does loose the feel of the 2 bryan singer x men films, and i missed that a bit, but this is more down and dirty. losts dominic mohahan plays a nice support and danny huston also doing a nice job of portraying stryker, played in x men by brian cox, here being younger and the center of the problems, hope to see more wolverine films, but also maybe a gambit, or deadpool origins,

bill miner who was exellent in another 80s set son of rambow, here portrays a ghost obsessed young lad, living in a old folks home his parents run, his grandfather played by michael caine comes to live and a bond starts, hes very grumpy at first but the two find time to be shared

spooky going ons for a lady after a car crash she was involved in, or wasent, seeing strange things, around her life and her family, some nice touches and moments, as she trys to piece the mystery together

a women who starts to see women in her local prison, catches the eye of one lady, who seems to have the ability to see and talk to spirits, and finds out she also does, and a friendship forms, but the strict and brutal life inside means something needs to be done, a good little drama from the past,

a youngv son whos distant from his father, gts to know dean sparkley, a rather ecentric fellow who when has a bit of a tipple of a rare wine tells fasinating stories of his past life as a dog, here man goes to great lenths to secure said bottle and listens why learning along the way, all leads are rather good here, jeremy northam and peter o toole as son and father have good scenes and its good to watch, and sam neil l as sparkley is very good, gentle drama, fine performances

not laugh riot youd get from a ferrell kind film, but a little bit harder edged, where if you get it, youll get something out of it, as danny mcbride doing things for himself now with things like tropic thunder and pineapple express, plays it well, some sad and quite comic moments throughout, and a charactor worth remembering

only now watching this properly, saw bits as a kid, the groundbreaking film, that leads the way in computer affects during the 80s, and of course playing on the popularity of the 80s arcade craze, as jeff goldblum gets zapped into a game whjere a real world exists, and must fight for his life while getting what he needs to stop it all, some great affects here, yes they look dated and crappy at times, but for its time, it was cutting edge, and with tron 2.0 coming out in a couple of years continuing the story, its a great time to watch this 80s classic

exellent political comedy, with superb observations on the british and u.s politics concerning going to war, fact finding missions, and parlement members putting there foot in it, and certainy whats been happening with our british politicians lately, and there expences, very relevent to showing the idiots at play, superb performances all round, lots of shouting, great shouting, from peter capaldi as a brit goverment official, such great scenes and put downs, the story concerning brit politicians going to washington and newyork, concerning a up and coming war is both relevent, and interesting to watch, the great lines just dont stop throughout, and james gandolphini doing great work also, this being based on a tv series, in the thick of it i believe, i will be checking out very soon

a very enjoyable time travel comedy from the u.k, very brit sitcom in style but also riffing on a tone of films, especially back to the future and bill and teds exellent adventure, with full of charm wit and situations as 3 ordinary guys 2 of which are sci fi geeks talk shop in the pub, and head to the mens room, but theres a paradox, and when they emerge time has altered, and as they realise its the toilets go back, and it happens again, a paradox happens as now they must avoid there other selfs, while a future time person played nicely by anna faris is on there case, popping up now and then, this film is very clever in places, and worked out so well for what looks like a simple story, its not a big set piece kind of film, just great charactor moments and sci fi done with great comedy, like the pegg/frost comedy program spaced, knows what to talk about and knowing winks throughout, great british comedy at work

richar curtis is partly forgiven for love actually, with a entertaining film based on a pirate radio station in the sixties britain, based out at sea, and untouchable by law, untill stiff dinosaur goverment official played superbly by keneth branah, makes it his priority, some entertaining moments throughout, phillip seymour hoffman and rhys ifans being the stand outs here, its all great fun, and great music to have you bouncing, and branah as the old guard refusing to leve that stiff upoer lip old engliand behind has great stuff, and a good third act, which works for me, although very smaltsy at end, but no harm done

exellent swedish horror, very atmospheric and some great moments and touches, kare hedebrant is exellent as the withdrawn 12 year old who is being bullied in school, and spens his lonely dark cold winter nights out on his own sitting thinking, here he meets eli a girl who only seems to see him at night, after dark, they form a friendship, needing each other, but eli is a vampire, and her guarding failing to secure some fresh blood, she has to seek out her own, or die, so as these 2 get closer, it seems they will be helping each other out with there situations, this is very well made, catch it before the ovious american remake, the two young leads are very good here and show great potential, also the other stories involving the old residents is enjoyable too, not just a drama, some great moments of horror, and not over used, a very watchable film

shot for £100.000 as pat of a london film program, a very good piece of british cinema, as daniel mays plays a young man who got out of london and headed to manchester, who comes back to see his best buddy played by riz ahmed, living life as a drug dealer, here we spend the day watching there friendship and events that could ruin there day, daniel mays who was exellent in vera drake, the bank job and a little role in atonement, is exellent as is riz ahmed, the story flows well, and although nothing original, its well handled

i not seen paul mart mall cop, because frankly it looks crap, and aparently this and paul mart are very similer, but this looked edgy and i went to see it, judd apatow is not involved here, rogen is on his own, but certainly feels like a apatow production, some silly light hearted moments and suddenly some outragous stuff, gets in there, and its good fun, although seth rogens charactor is not a likeable charactor, its very hard to like him, and i feel, a star comes off for that, hes such a twat, but they want you to love him, anna faris does what she does, and ray lioytta bringing his thing is always welcome,

based on the bbc mini series, a cracking and enjoyable film here, russell crowe is fat and slobby, which means hes after awards, the story is great and flows well, and some gripping scenes throughout, even ben efleck does a good job here, this was supposed to be norton and pitt, but wasent ment to be, but a good film made anyway

exellent 90s thriller set abord a nuclear sub, 2 great performances from hackman and washington, and direction from tony scott, tense moments and a cracking story of the threat of nuclear war and circumstances involved, a great slanging match between the two on show, and watch out for a great pre tony soprano, james gandolfini in another fine supporting role

always wanted to see this debur from david lynch, and finally have, yes it is weird, but i had to watch all the way through because of its weirdness, a lonely weird guy, who somehow ends up looking after a bay with his bit on the side, but baby is a mutunt birth, shot in gloomy blak and white and loads of dream images showing his state of mind, very weird but stick with it, you might get something out of it, im no big lynch fan, and certainly not of his work like lost highway and mullholland drive, but elephant man is a masterpiece. also watching this, i noticed a bit of inspiration to the coens barton fink, wether they are i dont know, but interesting

a video store clerk, is fasinated by a customer, so he sneakily gets to know her, shes a odd ball, and they strike up a friendship, eventually he wanting more, but she doesent leave him in, a pleasent little indie, with some good scenes between the two, and also the support from the actors around them,

a business man looses his wife, as he ends up looking after his daughter, he feels he needs to be with her, which includes waiting outside her school as she goes there, here he gets the feel of the area and people and conducts his business affairs, while getting a bit of a fresh outlook on life, a enjoyable gentle drama, with a good performance from, the main charactor, and nicely directed moments

a unnamed city, and people start going blind, these people are quarantined and left to fend for them self in a run down facility, only given basic racians, walking around blind grouping together, where alliances are formed but also dictatorship, a grimm looking film, with a great look, especially the last part set in the city, showing a city stopped due to everyone coming to the disease, and glimpses of what happend during these lost times while these people are inside, mark ruffalo, and the many actors portray blind and the situations well, and some good solid drama on work here

not as bad as i thought it would be, even though cage is dull, and unintentionally funny in parts, but some chilling moments throughout, and the sence of doom that is coming, is entertaining enough, and in many ways the film the happening wanted to be, yes the revelation, is odd, but some good and enteryaining scenes of destruction keep it enjoyable, sort of like the x files this.

looses the freshness of the highly entertaining original, and somewhat runs out of steam towards end, but the film keeps its raw edge and funny moments, some more etreme things going on here, with stratham his reliable hard man self, with his humour once more showing, annd a opening 5 minutes which for me very hard to watch, the ending shows what a odd and outragous film crank 3 could be if they make it

inspired by the true acounts of martain mcgartland, a i.r.a loyalist fighting the cause in northern ireland, who also was working for the british goverment, at the height of the troubles, and the title fifty dead men walking representing the lives of british army and security services, he must have saved along way, a gritty and edgy looking film taking us back to the 80s, and his coming up the ranks, a interesting look at the troubles from foot soldier level, and implications involved, jim sturgess whos inpressed in across the universe, and 21 shines again here in his very good belfast acent, and even though libertys have been taken with story, you can see where, thought is for storytelling rather than truth, its well told, another interesting i.r,a story, whih there have been many good ones

shane meadows, follows up this is england with another slice of young life, and again starring this is englands thomas turgoose, and again like other meadows films this is england, dead mans shoes, and others naturalistic acting, that brings something to the table always, the two leads once they meet, are superb together, a young polish youngster and a nrthern lad discovering each other in london, its a simple story, and with a short running time , never outstays its welcome, runs veey briskly, and never dull, full of cracking dialogue, and great black and white cinematography, a simple story of friendship

effective brit chiller, involving problem kids, eventually killer kids, a good setting, some good moments, and horror elements coming together

exellent marcial art fight scenes here, and a terrific find in the young lady in the lead, here she p[lays a gifted child brought up by a former gangster lady. taught as a child to develope her skills, and when her mother is taken ill, with her cousin, seek out money for medicine, coming upon a book of debts her mother hasent collected, they set out to collect, and the young girls skills come full out when trouble arises, eventually old bosses taking notice, the fight scenes are ferocious and mayhem ensures, asian fights at its best, she certainly is a find. and watch out for the last set piece, seriously its like a platform gamer adaption, if they ever did one,

a young man is getting married to his love, and must tell his story of his last mistress to the mother of daughter, for blessing. here his story is told a bit of heartbreak and betrayal. a good french drama

a fasinating acount from the shambles that was the 2000 us presidential elections, where faulty voting systems come into play, here we see al gores team coming to grips with the situation as it arises, and there atempts to get recounts in the state of florida, where events happend, headed up by a great kevin spacy performance as gores aid, a film that touches upon how maybe bush should not even have got to white house,and gore possibly robbed, and certainly gives a glimpse on voting procedures in the states, and also, tactics involved go count, not count votes, a great little hbo film

early clive owen role as a cocky londoner who loves his sister and vice versa, and years later, there eventual affair, and the feelings nd emotions coming out, solid performances all round, owen showing potential, and alan rickman as the rich husband very good here

very enjoyable eastern film, although considering it comes from master filmmaker takashi milke, shot in english, or at least my copy was english, and dubbing very good, it concerns two clans, the whites, and reds, who seize control of a prosperous mining town with gold on there minds, and here they stay, trying to rule the little town, but white slightly winning the war due to there leader being a bit mithical, a figure from the past returns to what he sees, and must get to work, with the help of other mysterious people hidden away, well directed, bloody action sequences throughout, a great mithical story, humour, and carnage, it looks great, and maybe if in its original language would add more, but its still very enjoyable, a good eye for spaggetti westerns here, even tarentino, showing up throughout, doing his thing, adds something. seven samuri, yojimbo, dollers trilogi, if you like these check it out

alan cumming a bit manic, and in diferent modes here as a ecentric gay writer who takes revenge on a wannabee playright who he thinks is using him, i beloieve its a stageplay, and it does show, some acting going on here

very interesting story of a college inventor played by greg kinnear, who solves a simple flaw for a windscreenwiper, and sets about trying to develope it with the ford motor company, there eventual rejection, and then, the design(possibly his own) being used anyway, and his atempt to take ford to court and giving him his due to the design. a film very tv movie in feel, but very well made and watching this on the big screen it holds up well, the story set over a time is well done, and kinnear is very good here, a story of the little man vs goliath, and a inspiration to all, and as i never knew this history and the outcome, it was never dull or predictable, yes the court room scenes were stagey, but worked well

a well paced film, which sometimes does get lost in its own plot, but the slick irection, and chemistry between owen and roberts keep it watchable throughout,

a suburbun neighbourhood cut off from violent outside world, shows its true situation when one of there own is murdered in side there own walls, and cover up the incident and need to catch and deal out justice them selves, as outside police suspect and the population needing to contain things in order toget there own status seperate from the city, a interesting look at how suburbia can change for the worse and what drives people to do what they think is right,

josh brolin is superb as george bush, in apearence and voice, and while oliver stone hasent gone out to make a film to destroy the man, hes made him out to be both lovable, and a bit stupid, but full of conviction for what he wants to do, some moments here come off very spinal tap, if you watch it right, and others, especially anything concerning them talking about situation in irak, and plans are handled very well, and frightening, we have a look at his early life in texas, and his relationship with his father, also former preseident, and his disapointment in his son, bush comes out at times a lovable fool, if thats possible, and shows at the end of it all, put a guy in a job, he becomes that job, some great speeches also fom bush in this, using well, his famous bad use of phrases, theres also great support from james cromwell, richard dreyfuss, and sprcial mention to jeffrey wright as his advisers, oliver stone has said he didnt want to make a film to destroy him, but in a way, hes poking fun here, but thats not to bad

a solid first 50 odd minutes, but let down slightly with 2nd half, and a bad guy thats not very clever or interesting, and the things he does and how he operates iritated me a bit, and not very original, but like i said, a tencse first half, adding something to the genre, before the more bloody predictable 2nd half kicks in

owen is all moody and the banks are bad people in this thriller very relevent today, a lot of talking, sometimes gets complicated, but you eventualoly find your way, some nice direction, and a bit out of place shoot out, is a welcome relief before we are back to business

emily blunt shines as victoria, as we see her in her year before and after she becomes queen of england, and the struggle for her to come through and not pass pover duty due to her age, and the eventual marriage to prince albert of belgium, as usual with these kind of films, it looks very nice to look at, great locations, and a slice of british history, worth knowing, blunt, finally getting the role she deserves after shining in everything shes been part off

tom hardy, handsome bob in rock,n,rolla, totlly transforms here into notorious english hardman prisoner, charles bronson, who is still in prison for being considered britains most violent prisoner, here we see a glimpse of his life inside, his many incarnations, and state of mind, and early life outside the walls, done with dark humour, throughout, as told by charlie, with a wicked smile and joker face, we see his short patience to the system, some scenes are shot, from what i see as his viewpoint in a cinematic way, something he would like to see himself, hardy doing bronson as a stand up clown is a clever scene, and goesa some way showing the man he is, hardy lives and breathes bronson, and throughout the film, is a joy to watch, the 80s setting is spot on, and prison life looks grim, and some nice touches throughout

from the director of babel and 21 grams comes another interesting tale, with fine performances all around, from theron, and trhe largly mexican cast telling a connected story in the past and present, like babel and 21 grams its shot very interestinly, and the time frame used well

a b movie in style of the typical bruce campbell b movies as he plays him self, he puts himself down and his movies, as hes mitaken a real monster in a small town, as a new project, it is silly and could be a lot better, but bruce makes it watchable and the bruce injokes are fun

eastwood plays a grumpy old man in his retirment years and we se him as he becomes a widow, he grumbles and moans at his neighbours who are korean and not american,and grumbles some more at his two sons who really just care for him, and the grumbles some more at the local priest who really thinks clint should confess in church, its when he gets tangled up with his neighbours that his life changes and he sees what other people, if a little diferent, can offer, but its a very dangerous pathy he can get into, this is definatly dirty harry retired in my eyes, ven though its not, he really doesent like whats going on around him, and eastwood geting old here playing old well, he still has what it takes, and as usuall directing also, the story is simple yet heartwarming, and runs along smoothly, predictably maybe, but eastwood always watchable, his racist oldman may come off funny someimes, and his roans throughout, whenever something happens, takes getting used to, but its never dull, yes it could be a little more gritty and less soppy, but a good film here

exellent, and a superb performance from benicio, as the title charactor, and a film that certainly benefits ffom having two parts, ive yet to see if part 2 will be a worthy film, but this part dealing with che castro and there troops making there way through cuba towards havanna, certainly benefits the extra time devoted to it, making there way across country, spreading there message to the people of cuba, and building there army for the uprising to overthrow the goverment, great detail in there campaign is seen, and inbetween a look at 64s u.n speech, snipets of speeches and comfrontations in this time, put in at good points throughout the film, theres also great set pieces throughout, not just making this a walking and talking pic, and the seige on the nearest point to havanna towards end is a highlight, great directing from soderdgerg, clearly showing he can switch from his ocean 11s to this with ease, benicio is superb, and im sure a oscar could be on the cards, his che is superb, heres looking forward to part 2

competitive marathon dancing competitions get a great lookin here, the highs and lows on one particular event, as all various sorts get there demons out to progress further, and tensions arise, a great ensemble cast, and with most of the running time images of people slowly shuffling along, its never dull, looks great too, this is a fav of genius filmmaker paul thomas anderson, a reason i was interested, and certainly see inspiration there

richard gere as a wartorn reporter, out of his depth as a surbian war criminal is wanted and he might know where, so with his long term friend and ex partner cameraman, played byterence howard, go off to claim him, and his bouty, all in the name of journalism, a great opening sets the scene well, brilliantly capturing the two at work, and with some moments later on isnt as daring as it could be, but its entertaining, and gere does his best, and howard putting in good solid work

streep, hoffman and adams, all do great work, as a priest played by hffman could have mstakenly been acused of a wrong doing with a alter boy, the convictions of streeps principal, and her values to her parish and her dislike towards him, and adams cought up in it all due to her inocent thoughts which lead to it all, like the two charactors played by adams and streep, you are in the same boat not knowing what went on, and its a interesting watch that way,

rocky showed the guy living his life, hopeing for that big break, here we see the guy who lived the dream, and now years later the dream and support has left him a trailer park trash, working a job as a store hand, but living some kind of past glory wrestling the halls where he does draw a crowd, his fame and career now bargain basement, hoping for a glimpse of the past, mickey rourke is superb, and certainly deserves best actor, bringing a lot to his charactor in both emotion and the wrestling scenes throughout, most of the time, watching this seemed like a documentary, shot hand held for most part, with gritty and realistic locations, something you only get in independent film, aronofsky diects with little fuss, unlike his others including the fountain, some great scenes to be had, rourke behind the counter of the meat stand, is a highlight, and all wrestling scenes done great, support from marisa tomei, as a stripper friend, whos story is in a way similer to his, some 20 years earlier, and her need to get out, is a good setting, and the few scenes with daughter played by evan raheal wood, tells a nice story. at times you see his payne, and his health taking second to his wrestling, and a film that does it well

sheen as frost and langella as nixon are 2 great reasons to watch here, as a very famous british journalist, gets the oportunity to interview the disgraced former president, ron howard diects with a great eye for the period. the film goes along well, with a great insight into the events and organisation that took place, during the period, based on a stage play, you can see it come across on the screen

tom cuise plays a good nazi(is there any other kind for a a list hollywood star, no ralph finnes shindlers list here. who along with a group of germans very unhappy with there country and hitler, put a plan into action to kill hitler, and gain control of the goverment after his death, it goes along nicely, with some tence moments, but why everyone is english acented, and tom cruise speaking german at beginning then morphing into english, i cant explain, the acents does take you out of it a bit, but with great acting talent on show, its never dull,

julian moore is the playful housewife, getting both bored and turned on by her lifestyle with her husband and her sexual feelings towards her gay son, yes a bit twisted, but a very thoughtful film, and everyone is great to watch especially moore, and given its time in history quite tabboo, her sons feelings towards his mother and sexuality handled welll

cass, the football hooligan of west hams intercity crew gets a version of his life, been seen and done before better with films like the firm, and rise of the foot soldiors, even films like i.d and the football factory, but a good performance from its star, keeps it watchable

david fincher and pitt team up for there 3rd effort, it may seem like a forest gump type tale, but its engageing throughout, and the story of a newborn, who is old in age and condition, growing backwards as we hear his story, is always engageing, sad and epic in its look, pitt, who im sure will get a oscar nomination for his work is watchable as usuall, and his work from very old to a young man shines, the make up and visual effects for old age is terrific, but always relighing on pitts acting, fincher whos gone for a sort of fairytale here, and in a way a departure, is on form, once again his work looks superb, a great eye for detail, cate blanchet also bringing something to the table as the love of his life, a film sad at times, and funny and tthought provoking.

will smith isa good watch, and story is engageing, as a man with a mysterious plan in motion, as helping 7 people is on the cards, not anything great but smith certainly brings something to the table
