1
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
It's a magical film, and an original. A film taken in someone elses hands could not have done the job like Micheal Gondry did I thought. And the lead roles are brilliantly acted by both Jim Carrey (Hurray, we LOVE serious Jim Carrey!) And Kate Winslet. And with the simple message that a love so strong as that - in the end shouldnt be forgotten - because your forgetting a part of yourself too.
2
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) (2001,  R)
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
The most charming moive I've seen in a long time. Like Amelie's fondness for the little pleasures in life, it's the little things that make this so much more joyful to watch. Audrey Tatou is also amazing and Im so glad she was cast in it. As is everyone else actually. The artist guy reminds me of a french version of Kieth Richards. How odd.
3
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) (2001,  PG)
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi)
Beautifully animated and drawn, and imagination used to the max. The visuals will knock you away, the story will fascinate you, the characters will scare and confuse you, and the plot will warm your little heart.
4
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975,  R)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Tim Curry is the sweetest transvestite ever. I did think this film sort of lost it towards the end though. The funnest B Movie Spoof ever.
5
Chicago (2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
Stylishly choreographed and terribly funny and dark - Chicago is as sexy and teasing as it's costumes and actors. Charismatic, clever and terrific fun.
6
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994,  R)
Four Weddings and a Funeral
I don't care if it's an obvious choice and some say it's awful and cheesy! It is this, and the woman in it is a terrible actress - but this was the first film we saw Hugh Grant's clumsy british character in action - and it's the frolics with his chums that makes this the more heartwarming.
7
Freaky Friday (2003,  PG)
8
Hallam Foe (Mister Foe) (2007,  R)
Hallam Foe (Mister Foe)
A young attractive Scottish lad obsessed with his mother and in love with the woman who looks just like her? If that isnt worth 5 stars what is? It's an excellently cast film - with Jamie Bell excelling in a role that doesnt require extravagant tapdancing. Some of the shots by the clock tower are outstanding too. A film that initially looks innocent is plagued with dark undertones of a Freudian love.
9
Donnie Darko (2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
Nothing to do with Jake Gylenhall looking rather handsome in it, but his acting and emotion he puts into his intelligent but overall disturbed character is often compelling viewing. With a storyline spaning many a fansite ramsacked with endless theories as to what it's 'really about' - the story is one that needs thinking about alot - and with a horror twist with that ghastly rabbit...
10
My Fair Lady (1964,  G)
My Fair Lady
Charming tale, with the eccentric Rex Harrison taking centre stage. Audrey Hepburn offers us a very spirited performance of a young flower girl who falls into the hands of Henry Higgens, a professional linguist. The story of their love/hate relationship and the wonderful music will enchant you.
11
Trainspotting (1996,  R)
12
Moulin Rouge! (2001,  PG-13)
Moulin Rouge!
So deliriously camp its a wonder anyone came out of the cinema theatres hetrosexual. At times I thought the direction seemed a bit over appropiated and messy but that is it's glorious charm, a simple story with beautiful scenery. Oh and Kidman is hot too. Let it be known
13
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Don't even get me started. This film thrilled me so much I went out and got a spotted bandana and an assortment of pirate jewellery. Everybody loves pirates, the roguish quality to them is just magnetic and interesting to watch. And although the Will Turner/Elizabeth Swann romance is sickly sweet and the most obvious romance to ever blossom, Johnny Depp's character brings the film a leash of life that earned him not only an oscar nomination but for the sequal's trailer to include around 80 percent of him in it.
14
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
My favourite of the Indiana Jones' films. I know its accepted as the least popular of the trilogy, but hey. Anything goes. (hardehar)
15
Fight Club (1999,  R)
Fight Club
Forgive the shameless obvious quoting but...

The First Rule of Fight Club is: You MUST watch Fight Club.
The Second Rule of Fight Club is You MUST watch Fight Club.

Even if you're a girl and arent that into 'action guy' films - it really shouldnt be marketted as that. It's clever, full of twists and themes of self enlightenment. And even if this isnt enough. It has topless Brad Pitt, Jared Leto and Edward Norton in it for most of the film. Come on people.

Amazing film, amazing script. Must read the book now!
16
Wayne's World (1992,  PG-13)
Wayne's World
Mindless fun. Mike Myers' goes all 'rock geek' on us with a silly look at teenage life for a metalhead.
17
Be Kind Rewind (2008,  PG-13)
Be Kind Rewind
It was fantastic, classic Gondry - it had the whole cinema in stitches which I find a rarity. It is odd that this doesnt seem like a 'big release' movie (Perhaps kitsch indie film of the year has already been stolen by Juno) and I havent seen it getting hyped up but I thought it was fantastic! Jack Black and Mos Def worked well together as the gentle yet ever suffering video shop worker and his roguish irritable companion. And lets not forget Gondry's direction which is why I went to see the film in the first place. Because. he. is. a. genius.
18
Slumdog Millionaire (2008,  R)
19
Some Like It Hot (1959,  Unrated)
Some Like It Hot
Cute, and original. Marilyn Monroe breathes her way through another cutesy performance ('Well nobody's perfect'), as two drag queens fight for her affections. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis work so well together. Classic comedy that just makes you feel so good inside
20
Angels with Dirty Faces (1938,  Unrated)
Angels with Dirty Faces
My favourite James Cagney film. The humour, the suspense, and the endearing gangster Rocky makes it one of my favourite black and white films that will live forever.
21
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I hated the first two HP films, but the dark direction of this film really made Harry Potter enjoyable again. Of course - the directors will never emulate a HP Book perfectly, but the imagery of this film is wonderful. Although who told Emma Watson to just enunciate everything as apposed to actually act?
22
The Full Monty (1997,  R)
23
Annie Hall (1977,  PG)
24
Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo sumaseba) (If You Listen Closely) (2006,  PG)
Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo sumaseba) (If You Listen Closely)
My new favourite Studio Ghibli film. It's so sweet and magical and its fueled by the magic of a child's imagination rather than real magic this time. Which makes it all the more..well, magical I suppose.
25
Shakespeare in Love (1998,  R)
Shakespeare in Love
I'm very much in love with this film - be the lines cheesier. But come on - this is Shakespeare! Inventor of the cliche! Sometimes you need a good few cliches to get the romance flowing. It's the classic forbidden love format - but hey. It works for me. And if it doesnt work for you - I'm sure topless Gwyneth Paltrow will.
26
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988,  R)
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Well apart from me trying to ignore Daniel Day Lewis's eyebrows for 2 hours - it was an amazing film. All the parts are brilliant. This film is mysterious, sexy and tragic. The invasion scenes and the dramatic contrast to black and white is brilliant. Every scene makes it feel as if youre watching a completely different film. And it's a very powerful technique.
27
Chocolat (2000,  PG-13)
Chocolat
Its just one of those quaint little feel good films - so naturally Judi Dench is in it. Although the 'wind' stuff is a bit soppy - the two leads are excellent and the sentiment is believable- and it does have some quite poignant moments and an interesting message. Oh and of course in desperate need of chocolate.
28
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
A very excellent contrast of horror and musical. My favourite film Ive seen for a long time - Johnny thrives in the darker than dark Sweeney and Helena's no nonsense yet utterly smitten Mrs Lovett is brilliant. Everyone does their bit sing-wise (Snape singing about Pretty Women who'dve thought it..) and the songs are devilishly catchy once given a chance. Much more could be said - but the cinematography and art direction is beautiful. Burton's style works so well for this story.
29
Edward Scissorhands (1990,  PG-13)
30
American Beauty (1999,  R)
American Beauty
I love the idea for the story. And Kevin Spacey, and Wes Bentley are fantastic in this beautifully directed and cleverly written film. You will see things in this film I have never seen before - and the random selection of some of the processes off this film prove why Sam Mendes is such an amazing director - and Kevin Spacey's portrayal of the most bemusing of mid-life crisises is excellingly brilliant.
31
Muppet Treasure Island (1996,  G)
Muppet Treasure Island
So I've seen a lot of credible films. I think I'm allowed this anomaly. This is one of my FAVOURITE films ever. I don't care if it's Muppets. I don't care if it's technically ruining one of the greatest novels ever. I don't care that Kevin Bishop's young naive Jim Hawkins is now tainted with Kevin Bishop being a successful comedian who does rude sex jokes. It's just outstanding! One of my favourite adventure and pirate films. AND Tim Currys in it! It's brilliant and fun - and will cheer you up if you are sad. I assure you.
32
The Devil Wears Prada (2006,  PG-13)
The Devil Wears Prada
Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep's chemistry as a lovehate magazine overlord and innocent assistant really works a treat. This film is certainly a member of the chick flick elite.
33
The Princess Bride (1987,  PG)
The Princess Bride
Okay - the Princess Bride herself is distrously bland - but Cary Elwes character is this adorable, smart, nimble thing that makes all ladies fall weak for him. The stories typical, but with a comic twist that helps it along - not to mention Billy Crystal's performance. But I think I will always love this film for Cary Elwes lovely purring British voice. Haha, call me shallow. "As you wiiish.."
34
Basic Instinct (1992,  R)
Basic Instinct
Sharon Stone is brilliant in the ice cool performance of Catherine Tramell. The film is so much more than 'that leg crossing scene' - and its building whodunit format keeps the audiences guessing til the very end. Not for the faint hearted - it's no wonder Micheal Douglas checked in for sex addiction after filming this.
35
Toy Story (1995,  G)
Toy Story
Like a bit of animated movie times. But not too much - I mean, Im so bored of them now..Ratatouille etc. and go away. Stick to the originals - before they went a bit rubbish haha. Tom Hanks is ace in this one as Andy's favourite toy Woody
36
Gia (1997,  R)
37
24 Hour Party People (2002,  R)
38
Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001,  R)
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Excellent story about two rich teenagers seeking sexual promise and a journey. The casting is brilliant and the locations are beautiful. A funny enjoyable film, with dark edges. Not a normal american teenager road trip movie at all, and all the better for it.
39
Starter for Ten (Starter for 10) (2006,  PG-13)
Starter for Ten (Starter for 10)
James Mcavoy makes what should've been a mediocre college movie into something a little more special. The script is quite amusing at times but it is the actors (bar catherine tate..eurgh) that give the movie it's charisma. A cracking soundtrack too helps the 80s setting come alive.
40
Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) (2009,  R)
41
The Truman Show (1998,  PG)
The Truman Show
With the thousands of reality shows being blasted in our faces every single day - this film is a worryingly accurate portrayal of the public's fascination with other people's lives. Jim Carrey's confused yet hopeful performance will make you laugh, and cry.
42
Bad Education (La Mala educación) (2004,  NC-17)
Bad Education (La Mala educación)
I thought Gael was amazing - as always - but I think either Im an idiot or it was a bit hard to follow - with all the stories within stories within stories forever. Acting/directing - perfect. Handled beautifully. Amazing story. Deserves another watch definitely
43
The Breakfast Club (1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
The film really is pure 80's, and of course has dated quite badly (Molly Ringwald's fashion status confirmed by a little pink cardigan in this decade? I think not) Judd Nelson is brilliantly roguish as the anarchic punk. Obviously the film's main job is to challenge pretty much every single stereotype - but at least it fully admits to doing exactly that. The conclusion was a little stupid I thought - and a wierd way of tying everything together. Especially the prep-boy, and the loner-girl romance which was ridiculously misjudged and unrealistic. However the ongoing frustration and confessions and character building really made this film very watchable. And a cheesy 80s soundtrack is never bad..or is it?
44
A Clockwork Orange (1971,  R)
A Clockwork Orange
A film that begs so many questions, but shows so much charisma and talent from a young Malcolm Mcdowell. Why are we attracted to a serial rapist and murderer? Because he does a bloody god job convincing us. Difficult to watch at times, but amazingly clever. Stanley Kubrick's finest.
45
The Birds (1963,  PG-13)
The Birds
I did get genuinely scared. Even at 'the famous bit.'

But I felt something was missing. But..some of the shots were just beautiful.

The ending pissed me off. I hate ambiguity.
46
Clerks (1994,  R)
47
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996,  G)
48
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986,  PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
As far as 80s teen movies go..this is probably one of my favourites. Everything just fits. It's humerous, yet with that melancholic air of how fucked up it is to be a teenager. It's all there - and Charlie Sheen is..just hot.
49
The History Boys (2006,  R)
The History Boys
I love all these films set in the 80s - and I absolutely adored the entire casting. But I just felt that this film could've embellished its 80s background and the characters a lot more. As far as 80's working class coming of age films go..I'd still watch Starter for Ten, but maybe I should give it another watch!
50
Atonement (2007,  R)
Atonement
Great performances put in by the whole cast. It perhaps drags on in the middle - but perhaps this is just me not appreciating the cinematography of the war scenes. Kiera Knightley proves shes more than just a pretty beanpole putting in a fantastic performance as the long suffering Cecilia, James McAvoy equally as brilliant. Sure - you'll want to kill the annoying little girl - but I guess not all costume dramas can have happy endings.
51
Sliding Doors (1998,  R)
Sliding Doors
Not usually this crazily into romcoms..but this is great nostalgia for a teenage self wanting love. Its a great simple idea with intelligent dialogue. Give it a big ol' watch Gwyn fans!
52
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975,  PG)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Brave Sir Robin ran away, he bravely ran away away...

GET..ON WITH IT.
53
Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979,  R)
Monty Python's Life of Brian
Ridiculously ridiculous - Monty Python are some damn funny gents. And we all know that 'He's not the messiah hes a very naughty boy' is the best line spoken in cinema ever.
54
C.R.A.Z.Y. (Crazy) (2005,  Unrated)
C.R.A.Z.Y. (Crazy)
One of my favourite coming of age films. Zach is hot, but theres more than just that to keep the film going : D

Beautifully directed, great soundtrack, and a naivety that breaks through for a more chaotic lust-filled drama. Hey isnt that what being a teenager is all about?
55
Rachel Getting Married (2008,  R)
56
This Is England (2007,  Unrated)
This Is England
This is an excellent film that has an incredibly poignant social commentary on Thatcher's Britain. Shaun is a little boy who's father has died in the war that he so despises. So when a bunch of skinheads pick him up off the streets, Shaun's underlying disgust for the reason his father died leads him into a war between two social groups.
57
Naked (1993,  Unrated)
Naked
The grittiness of this film at times can be overwhelming, but the realness and bittersweet nature of it really gives the film the edginess that Mike Leigh was trying to encapsulate. David Thewlis really excells as the well spoken yet utterly shambolic Johnny - and his quest for enlightenment in run down 90s London. A very strong drama with excellent performances and a sharp dialogue.
58
This Year's Love (1999,  Unrated)
This Year's Love
Is a great little underground film that I should've payed closer attention to. I always enjoy films with interlocking storylines despite how unrealistic they are sometimes
59
The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999,  R)
The Talented Mr. Ripley
With Matt Damon putting in a performance this cute, yet thrillingly deviant - how could you resist? A plot focussing on one man who finds his talents lead to his downfall.
60
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001,  PG-13)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
This film made me so sad. Hayley Joel Osmand is such an amazing child actor - he really has made a name for himself. And Jude Law suits playing a robot very well (How ironic considering many consider some of his other acting roles as quite robotic) but yes..the story is sentimental, and the special effects are great. I love it, it's fantastic.
61
High Fidelity (2000,  R)
62
Boys Don't Cry (1999,  R)
Boys Don't Cry
I think I was expecting more from this film. True - Hilary Swank does the role justice and Chloe Sevigny is brilliant as the rebellious lovelorn counterpart - some of the scenes were very effective and harrowing - but I didnt think it really came truely across as a 'coming of age' tale - it sometimes lacked the compassion of youth I thought. The innocence was just a little lost.
63
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971,  G)
64
Cruel Intentions (1999,  R)
Cruel Intentions
Brilliant performances in this film I thought! I was surprised actually at how vindictive such young hot actors can be. Brilliantly sexy, and moreover just pure evil!
65
Stranger Than Fiction (2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
As much as I cant stand Will Ferrell - he has gone up in my estimations by being almost tolerable in this film with a much more low key character. With quirky characters and a heartfelt romance it does capture the imagination somewhat. If only Ferrell wasnt so frustratingly empty inside.
66
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
Obviously this film is The Illusionist and vice versa - but I think this is better - I think the conclusion and the parallels drawn between Jackman and Bale help progress the climax a lot more. And Jackman is brilliant in this.
67
Rebecca (1940,  Unrated)
Rebecca
Fantastic film, the upcoming sense of dread works so well - and of course it doesnt really matter that genius Hitchcock has editted it so well when hot Laurence Olivier makes it a good film either way : D
68
Secretary (2002,  R)
Secretary
Both lead roles were fantastic, the intensity of the situation and the characters worked brillianty. Gyllenhaal is amazing forever
69
Disney's Aladdin (1992,  G)
70
Hook (1991,  PG)
Hook
Guilty pleasure! Noone likes this film! This saddens me. My boyfriend's cynical jibe of this film is 'Its about a GROWN UP Peter Pan! And what is worse is that he's being played by Robin Williams!' Whereas I thought it was a charming tale and very clever, with heart. The scene where Peter finally re-learns all of Peter Pan's skills is a classic. Plus I very much enjoyed the crazily brief cameo from Gwyneth Paltrow. 'PETER!' Okay, that was great Gwyneth - now leave.
71
Withnail and I (1987,  R)
Withnail and I
'I demand to have some booze!' 'We've gone on holiday by mistake' 'The bastard must've died' - Most quotable film ever?
72
Requiem for a Dream (2000,  R)
Requiem for a Dream
The way this film is editted is fantastically portraying drug abuse. Sometimes just the camera work alone aside from the fantastic acting makes you feel as if you are as high as they are.
73
Notting Hill (1999,  PG-13)
Notting Hill
If you cant be bothered to immerse into something cultured than best just sink into a Hugh Grant romcom. And this is probably the best of the bunch. I loved the Dylan Moran cameo, and the scene in the garden. I personally found Julia Roberts slightly wooden in this film though! But perhaps thats just the reserved character shes playing.
74
Dogma (1999,  R)
Dogma
If you only watch this for Alan Rickman's 'anatomically challenged as a Ken Doll' moment - then please do. It is great fun. Although Alanis Morisette as God? Who was in charge of casting for this film?
75
Bitter Moon (1992,  R)
Bitter Moon
I find it quite interesting that Fiona and Charles from Four Weddings and a Funeral have found themselves in quite a sordid ferry ride. This film is unsettling, sordid, dark and deadly. Emmanuelle's performance as a shy french girl turned filthy seductress is completely devilish. And..any sex scene featuring Wham and managing to get away with it deserves an award right there.
76
The Namesake (2006,  PG-13)
The Namesake
I more enjoyed this film for its wonderful emotional scenes and scenery than the funny bits. I didnt care much for those. But its a beautiful film.
77
Shaun of the Dead (2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
What do you want from the shop?

Cornetto...
78
The Actors (2003,  R)
The Actors
A completely ridiculous plot, with a very obnoxious Micheal Caine. Dylan Moran steals the show - and the charming soundtrack evidently makes it all the more lovely. A fun, not exactly perfect movie treat you should love if you have a sense of humour.
79
Saturday Night Fever (1977,  PG)
Saturday Night Fever
An excellent representation of the glamour vs the derelict. Saturday Night Fever not only has an excellent soundtrack but a terrific portrayal of 70s new york. John Trovalta's sex-crazed egotistical nature seems almost attractive. Not to mention that white catsuit..
80
28 Days Later (2003,  R)
28 Days Later
Terrifyingly tragic, but in moments heart-stopping. 28 Days Later is a glorious interpretation of what would happen if the world hit a global quarantine. The message of survival, and hope will very much hit home.
81
Groundhog Day (1993,  PG)
82
Ringu ( Ring) (1998,  Unrated)
83
The Blair Witch Project (1999,  R)
The Blair Witch Project
Some people love it, some people hate it - I think its a very original and realistic idea for a horror film that could've easily happened. No wonder so many people fell for it.
84
The Apartment (1960,  Unrated)
The Apartment
I think I was expecting more from this. After being delighted and enthralled by Some like it hot I was told to watch The Apartment. Jack Lemmon is amazingly endearing and lovable - and the film is generally heartwarming. Whereas Shirley Maclaine at first comes across as wise and sarcastic, she loses this charm very swiftly by providing such careless knocks to Jack Lemmon's character that you start to not care about her.

Yes it is stamped as an anti-romance so to speak. Which makes it unique in its quite predictable early 60s production. But I felt something was missing. Either it wasnt funny enough to come across as sattirical to love, or it wasnt lovable enough to come across as a comedy.

I felt the overall product was lovely. But without Jack Lemmon and a few of the other cast driving this story - I wasnt as enthralled as I feel I shouldve been.
85
The Shawshank Redemption (1994,  R)
The Shawshank Redemption
Completely amazing. Plot, acting, setting. Everything is perfect - as is the ending. Nothing left to say apart from WATCH IT.
86
Gone With the Wind (1939,  G)
87
Breathless (À bout de souffle) (By a Tether) (1961,  Unrated)
88
The Godfather (1972,  R)
The Godfather
Really good, Im not really too into this whole genre but as a film in general it works excellently. Quite graphic at times but that just helps with the realism. Al Pacino excells! Quite want to watch the sequals now
89
Mary Poppins (1964,  G)
90
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993,  PG-13)
91
Dead Poets Society (1989,  PG)
92
Son of Rambow (2007,  PG-13)
Son of Rambow
This film was really great, brilliantly heart-warming and the two main boys played their roles excellently. I was really impressed with it's childish naivity and was drawn to a really sweet conclusion. The religious prospect of things could perhaps have been embellished slightly to make things more dramatic but perhaps that would override the film's original intentions. Brilliant!
93
Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (,  Unrated)
94
Sleepy Hollow (1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
Johnny Depp is fantastic (As always, come on it's Depp people) as the nervous Ichabod Crane. The story is imaginative, and the scenery exquisite. The enchanting Christina Ricci is also in this - scary, yet funny film
95
The Nightmare Before Christmas (2008,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The soundtrack, the beautiful images - everything is so charismatic, gothic beautiful. Pure Tim Burton.
96
Magnolia (1999,  R)
Magnolia
I'd say the film was an absolute masterpiece - and if a film can make you stop and think about things as much as this film does aswell as make you laugh, make you cry, make you scared, make you so downright confused than the director must have done something right. I know he gets alot of bad press but Tom Cruise was brilliant - and none of the scientology rubbish should detract from his staggeringly believable performance.
97
If.... (1968,  Unrated)
If....
Malcolm McDowell is amazing, but the film is great too. Lindsay Anderson's bizzare to colour to black and white direction is great (Although it might have just been a case that they ran out of money, but on the dvd commentary lovely Malcolm says that he had been a fan of that style from watching another film) and the story and the surrealism are fantastic. I love it so much, its great. Great film. Mcdowell is brilliant.
98
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989,  PG)
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
'69 Dude!' It's wierd to think Keanu Reeves was Bill in this very Wayne's World-esque film - but with a wierder story. My favourite moment is when Napolean has been left with Bill's sister and is like 'this is a very old french dude. Take him to a movie or something'
99
Thelma & Louise (1991,  R)
Thelma & Louise
I thought this film was a cheesy chickflick - but its so much more than that. It's about friendship, rebellion, and learning to cope when the whole world is chasing you. And if that doesnt do it for you - Brad Pitt topless sure will.
100
Mamma Mia! (2008,  PG-13)
Mamma Mia!
Oh my god..it was camp and amazing and it just makes you happy. Sometimes its okay to have a film that exists not for its narrative, not for its characters - but it's spandex. It's everlasting spandex. Dont need to be an Abba fan, but probably do need to be female or homosexual male to enjoy this..not that Im stereotyping of course ; )
101
Control (2007,  R)
Control
A very intense musical biopic of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis. It is a very poignant look at the troubled star but paints on his vivid and creative personality more than his psychological problems that he is probably more known for. A very endearing film with some amazing performances - especially Samantha Morton. And there is still some humour too with the tour manager, but overall it is quite gloomy isn't it? But at least it makes an effect.
102
I'm Not Scared (,  R)
103
London to Brighton (2008,  R)
London to Brighton
This was a very chilling drama, I love it when films really make you feel for the characters. The plot was incredibly believable and dramatic.

I thought the alternative ending on the dvd for this was much more poignant, but I can understand why they had what they had instead.
104
The Wicker Man (1973,  R)
The Wicker Man
Completely cult, but deserving of your attention. Check out the tragedy, the lovelorn subcurrent, and a very dark tale indeed.
105
Labyrinth (1986,  PG)
Labyrinth
Welcome to my guilty pleasure. But screw that it has BOWIE in it! So it must be good on some level, right? Dance magic dance
106

Forrest Gump
Apparently all media students are disallowed to like this film. Well I dont dislike it but it is overrated. I guess people find Tom Hanks' character annoying - but I thought this film had lots and lots to offer

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Incredibly humerous affair. And oh look, Robert Downey Jr is in it. Even better. I dont know why - but that 'Spider on the boob' bit gets me everytime.

Adaptation
So many layers works on a thousand levels, takes about 20 watches to understand, and well what do you know - its by Charlie Kaufman and directed by Spike Jonze. Its a brilliantly realised film. If you get it. : D

La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children) (1995,  R)
La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children)
Extraordinarily visually pleasing, this French wonder taps into so many things to thrill an audience. The heartwarming friendships, the horror aspect from the devilish Krank, and startling visual effects. A must see for anyone interested in French cinema.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
A charming take on the wonderful book series. 'Bloke from the Office' Martin Freeman provides a very wonderful awkward Arthur Dent. And with Stephen Fry's incredibly perfect and funny narration who can blame me for watching this over and over? Although a certain Paranoid Android steals the show. And thanks for all the fish!

La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep) (2006,  R)
La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep)
Micheal Gondry's own writing efforts pale in insignificance if you were to compare this to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. However Science of Sleep is heavily coated in sentimentality and kitsch artisticness that it hardly matters whether or not it lives up to other Gondry directing efforts. Gaelplays the role of a man who would rather spend time within his dreams than actual reality - and we watch in awe as Gondry shows us the dreams intermingled with life. And all it takes is a few paper clouds.

El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
I thought this film was fantastic, so imaginative and enchanting - with the deadly contrast of war and violence. Watch out for ol' longmouth! Even though its slightly grotesque, I did laugh at the funniest injury in cinema history. Hawhaw.

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt) (1999,  R)
Run Lola Run (Lola rennt)
We watched this as part of our Media Studies course, and Im very glad we did. The circular narrative and the german techno music makes this film as innovative as it is exciting.

Stand by Me (1986,  R)
Stand by Me
Probably one of the best coming of age films to be seen. The vulnerabilty of the children and the way they must learn and grow up so quickly due to the circumstances is amazing. River Phoenix delivers a brilliant scene in this too
