Top 100 Horror Movies

This list is far from finished. As soon as I see more great horror movies the list will change.

I've decided not to include sequels on the list to make room for more movies so I'll mention them here instead:
Aliens, 28 Weeks Later, Evil Dead 2, The Hills Have Eyes (Remake), Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978 Remake).

Suggestions are welcome!

æQuién puede matar a un nińo? (Who Can Kill a Child?)(Death is Child's Play)(Island of the Damned)
A truly awesome horror movie. It's a real shame this little gem has not got more attention. "Who Can Kill A Child" deserves just as much, if not more, praise as most of the horror classics from the seventies.
44
Deep Red (Profondo rosso) (The Hatchet Murders) (1975,  R)
45
The Machinist (2004,  R)
46
Eden Lake (2008,  R)
Eden Lake
I knew this movie would be brutal. What I did not know was that it would be so effectively disturbing. And I mean this in a good way, even though it might sound weird. I figured before watching that this movie got the "brutal" imprint for just being violent. And even though it is very violent at certain times that is not what made it so disturbing. It's the psychological aspect of it that I found really frightening, mostly because it was so realistically portrayed, much thanks to the kids terrific acting. Shortly, the film was just great.

60

63
Day of the Dead (1985,  Unrated)
64
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962,  Unrated)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
The Jane Hudson character is awesome, well acted and truly an evil, disturbed individual. Blanche however is overacted and her emotions seems almost theatrical which is a shame since it made it harder to really care for her. The music is unfortunately unfitting from time to time which ruins some of the mood. Never the less this was a great thriller. Even though the movie is quite long and slow-paced it managed to keep me interested to the end.
65
The Host (Gwoemul) (2007,  R)
66
Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) (2001,  R)

Shocking. A movie you'll remember for a long time. I'm not sure I could recommend it to anyone.

72
Splinter (2008,  R)
73
High Tension (Switchblade Romance) (2004,  R)
High Tension (Switchblade Romance)
Wow! this movie came as a pleasant surprise when I saw it. I had no expectations what so ever and it turned out to be one of the best horror movies I've seen. Unlike most horrorfilms this one actually has a great plot. It is also very exciting from time to time and very violent, more than necessary actually so beware...

Dead Alive (Braindead) (1993,  R)

Eyes of Crystal (Occhi di cristallo)
A great modern giallo in the style of classic Argento.
82
The Changeling (1980,  R)
83
The Entity (1982,  R)
The Entity
A much more mature and realistic take on ghosts than I've seen before. The characters actions and behaviors as well as the conversations all seem very lifelike. It does however get a bit hollywoodish towards the end.
84
When a Stranger Calls (1979,  R)
When a Stranger Calls
My expectations were low but this horror thriller managed to keep me interested from the beginning to the end. The story is simple - catch the psycho before he kills. Although simple, the movie is very well made and quite thrilling from time to time.
85
Drag Me to Hell (2009,  PG-13)
Drag Me to Hell
A great flick that was actually quite scary from time to time. It's also disgustingly funny, quite alot like Evil Dead. Some of the CGI looks surprisingly bad but it somehow actually works and even suits the movie's not so serious mood. The ending was a bit dissapointing though and seemed kind of sudden.
86
Dark Water (2002,  PG-13)
87
Anatomy (Anatomie) (2000,  R)
88
Re-Animator (1985,  R)
