WALL-E (2008, G)
Where does one begin when writing a review about a film like WALL-E? I suppose one should start at the beginning. WALL-E distances itself from all other computer animated films in the first 20-30 minutes. In this time there is no dialogue. Only the incomparable sound design of Ben Burtt and the fantastic score of Thomas Newman. Both of these elements help a small computer animated robot display more character development in 97 mins. than Ashton Kutcher has displayed in his career. Combine this with great animation, phenomenal cinematography, and a superbly crafted script/story, and that makes WALL-E my pick for Best Pixar Film, Best Film of 08, 5th Greatest Animated Film, and 77th Greatest Film Ever Made. |
