The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring 5.0 Stars
Stunning and beautiful. This instant masterpiece has terrific characters, compelling story, thrilling sequences (Gandalf fights Balrog: You Shall Not Pass!) and state-of-the-art directing, acting, and cinematography. The music score is beautiful and the New Zealand setting provides an equally beautiful Middle Earth. The acting is fantastic, from Wood's worried facial features, to Blanchett's soulful narration. Truly one of the great films.

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King 5.0 Stars
The final chapter to 'The Lord of the Rings' is a magnificent finale to the legendary trilogy. The well built-up climax is thrilling and jaw-dropping. The fight scenes are as good as the previous films (thanks to state of the art SFX). The characters that we know and love from the previous films, have grown and evolved into much deeper personalities. This is fantastic movie-making at its peak. This redefines the word EPIC.

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers 5.0 Stars
'The Two Towers' will be remembered for its magnificent battle scene at the the film's conclusion, but more importantly for the crawling masterpiece that is Gollum.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) 5.0 Stars
An exhilarating, exciting, fun action/adventure that blends the action with humour. The Lucas/Spielberg classic is a must see for anyone who loves movies. The sequels are great too! Ford has never suited a role better than Indy.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 5.0 Stars
This is the best of all Star Wars movies. It must have blown 'A New Hope' out of the water when it first came out. This one puts the three prequals to shame...shame prequals, shame! It also has the best ever twist in cinematic history, better than Saw, Fight Club and Planet of the Apes, this twist is so famous that your head might explode while watching it. Such a good movie, BLAHHH!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 4.0 Stars
The second Indy film is quite like the first: exciting, thrilling, emotional and breathtaking. However the chick was an annoying bitch, especially compared to Marion from the first film, who was excellent. I have nothing against Shorty. He was a little annoying but compared to the chick he was OK. Still, this was a great sequel!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 4.0 Stars
Spielberg, Ford and Lucas reunite to bring back one of cinema's greatest characters, and reigniting a much beloved franchise. 19 years since the last 'Indiana Jones ' film, one may think that its been too long to make another sequel, but the three geniuses throw in everything they can muster to create another rip-roaring adventure. There are Russian soldiers killer ants, monkeys, tribesmen, quicksand, waterfalls, high speed car-chases, machine guns and even aliens. No rolling boulders though... Not only is this a return to the Indy franchise for Spielberg, but it's a return to his fun blockbuster films. Ever since 'The Colour Purple' he has mainly made serious films, it's been a while since we've seen him do something so fun. The action scenes are a huge key to the film and there are set-pieces that rank among the best of the franchise. The rest of the cast are excellent including new comers Shia Labeouf as the adventurous side-kick (better than Shorty) and Cate Blanchett as the hot Russian villainess. Her over-the-top performance was brilliant. The return of Karen Allen was also much appreciated. However this is Ford's movie and even in his 60s he shows no sign of slowing down.

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl 4.0 Stars
This film is actually very different from its sequels. It could be a stand-alone film, and maybe should have been. Jack Sparrow is primarily the reason it's so good, but this has a simpler yet better plot from its complicating sequels. It is probably the best Pirate movie I've seen. There are good sword fights, cool special effects, great characters, and nicely-timed humour. Johnny Depp shows that he is an actor of great diversity.
