Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996, Unrated)
This came from a recommendation (Thanks Blake) ,I had put it off for a few weeks because of the subject matter. It is excruciatingly hard to watch.I mean these 3 little 8 year old buys died. Not only did they die they were brutally tortured, mutilated, raped ,bludgeoned, and drowned,Yeah all while being hogtied. This movie made me ill as a mother.Made me disgusted the way these redneck ass hillbilly, Mutherfuckers treated this case!Um "Lost the evidence'????WHAT????? Oh Lord ,My heart goes out to the parents of these 3 little boys,What they had to see and hear in that courtroom would haunt me forever in my dreams.I really want to watch part 2 of this now.The ending which I won't give away even though this movie has been out forever is soooo unsettled. There is a HUGE curveball thats thrown into the whole mix towards the end that leaves me really wondering did these 3 boys do this. Were they capable of pulling off all that had to be planned and done.Or were they just ,normal teens, talkin trash, dressing different, and by golly you can't like in the dam Bible belt and believe in anything other than God or even think it or you will surely burn in Satan's Lap (rolls eyes).Anyway please chat back with me if you have seen this one,I would love to gear the thoughts of others.Blake you first buddy.=) |

Sicko (2007, PG-13)
Warning:If you have not yet seen this film, you may NOT want to read this there are Spoliers involved.Ok,with that said,I have watched Fahrenheit 9/11 and I thought that documentary was upsetting. This one was worse,I guess it toyed with the 'mother' in me and literally this movie left me feeling Sicko afterwards. And you will too,any American that watches this will be outraged to find out some of the things revealed here.It is so maddening and incredibly sad at the same time.My husband and I at the end said we need to move to Canada or France lol.But seriously this is some heart wrenching shit.I made it through the mother that had to deal with her baby dying becuase she sat around an E.R. for hours while the hospital bullshitted around with her HMO and her baby had a 104 degree fever and ultimately had a seizure and later diedand all the political crap was pretty much expected, but I could no longer hold back my anger and tears when it came to them interviewing the rescue workers of 9/11.These people are so fucked up sick, they cannot work, have horrible Respitory problems that will never go away. But the kicker comes when you find out that many other countries have FREE universal health care,Yes meaning you walk out of the hospital and NEVER recieve a bill,Ever. But guess what Bush did???He takes Al Qaeda prisoners and sends them off to Guantanamo Bay Cuba,Why you ask?Because they have free health care,BUT Guantanamo Bay is considered U.S. soil,so Michael Moore does the unthinkable he gets a boat and gets alot of the sick people from throughout the film plus the 9/11 workers and takes them there for free health care,Why not if we give it to fucking Al Qaeda members surely our own American Heros can get it right???Well I will leave you with that cliffhanger to urge you to see this,The outcome is pretty unreal.Make this one of the next Must see's on your list as an American,a parent or just a human you would be doing yourself a big disservice to miss this one!WATCH THIS FILM! |

The Bridge (2006, R)
Raw,gritty and very REAL.No joke folks have the tissues ready male or female.Take the journey to San Francisco and find out why this is the last destination in so many lives every year. This film captures 24 deaths as they happened in 2004 and the links to these people on The bridge as they took there 4 second fall. This is filmed very well really neat cinematography, but the emotional roller coaster and the twisty sick feeling in your stomach the whole time doesn't go away.Fair warning its not the typical popcorn fun kind of movie ,but if you can handle the subject matter, the in your face facts will astound you.Let me know what you think. |

The Business of Being Born (2008, Unrated)
A documentary with an eye opening look of the cash crop that should have NEVER been. This film shows that although we have moved leaps and bounds from the unreal barbaric Labor and delivery rooms of the 20's and 30's advancing but maybe in the wrong direction. In the U.S. it is no longer about what is safe and best for Mom and baby, its about get em' in and get em' out.Like a factory, and how much drugs are pushed on laboring women (whether they want it or not) to help speed that process along.I was really shocked by alot that I saw. Also this movie shows that C-section births are now more than 1-3 births,If that is not a jaw dropper alone. It's now become the norm to completely remove the womanhood and natural process completely from the mother of the birth experience.Anyway its been 15 years since I have been in a delivery room, and lucky enough with both boys to never need a C-section.Ladies,If you are pregnant or already a mom you will appreciate this film that none other than Ricki Lake has put together, very well done. You might even need a few tissues,I guarantee, seeing all those sweet little newborns will take each and every one of you right back to the moment you first looked into the eyes of your little one.=) |

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008, Unrated)
I have been wanting to see this for a while now, ever since first learning about it.I had posted a story the other day when I had stumbled acorss a story that said it was airing on MSNBC on Sunday night,I had forgot until today that I had recorded it.This documentary put together by Andrew's friend is absolutely unreal. So totally gut-wrenching.It will invoke every emotion in you imaginable. What this family went through is so horrible.I am highly, highly recommending this movie to everyone that comes across this review. This family deserves for the public to see this film for the legacy of Zachary if nothing else. |

Religulous (2008, R)
Verrry Interesting stuff here.I went into this as I do with all controversial Documentaries.I learned alot.Alot of the info is sooo conflicting, you really wonder who or what to believe in anymore.Only because of the format the movie is done in.Just lots of questions raised to the people who are "supposed" to have the answers and do not.Again very eye opening and Bill Maher pulls no punches ,he is very straight forward with his interviews and gets some very interesting views on things.I definitely recommend this to anyone. Not the run of the mill everyday Documentary at all.forward, very |

Man on Wire (2008, PG-13)
Philippe Petit a rather small man (in height) with huge dreams. Not only did he execute this master plan of getting all their equipment but building it and rigging it all within a few hours and walks back and forth 8 yes EIGHT times just to play with the cops.I loved it.Sad reminder that the twin towers are a distant memory, but wow this man and this film are amazing. |

I think you're missing many many really good documentaries, such as The Roman Holocaust and such like that.
Some of these are dramatised movies trying to be seen as documentaries when they're really not.
But some of them are pretty good.
