The ten most awesome gangster movies in my opinion. Can think of heaps more, but these are essential viewing... in no particular order of preference.

Scarface (1983, R)
Widely considered a classic, and in many ways it is. Pacino's performance as Tony Montana is part of what makes him a true legend. Perhaps a little overrated, since the story itself really isn't that good. Spawned multiple ripoffs and is ultimately quoteable. DePalma's direction and Pacino alone make this essential viewing. Not for the squeamish or those who try to avoid 'F bombs', but the chainsaw scene will haunt you forever. |
