Futurama: Bender's Big Score
Dissapointing if I'm honest. The plot is above average but not really movie-quality, except for the subplot which is good, the animation is fit (and widescreen, woo!), the music and voice-acting and everything else are bang on par, but frankly, it's not very funny. I sniggered alot but there were no belly-laughs. That said, how clever this film gets with it's time travel and the fantastic twist at the end all make up for it if you persevere. It's not as good a movie as the greatest TV show ever deserves, but we have at least 3 more to look forwards too, hopefully they'll get better. That said, it still rocks.

Star Trek
I loved it. Admittedly, I'm a fan of the original series so in a sense I'm biased, but I'm also more likely to judge it harshly because it's messing with something I like?

Either way, it was a great film. It had a fair few moments that annoyed me but I could overlook them and enjoy the fantastic cast (McCoy was absolutely spot-on fantastic, Spock and Kirk were great, Scotty might have been great if I could have gotten past it being Simon Pegg, Uhura was better than the original because now she's actually hot, Chekov was an annoying little baby-face but to be fair, he still played the part well) as well as the little things for nerdy fans of the show to pick up on (Pike in a wheelchair at the end for example).

I also love that the film is actually more of a sequel than a prequel seeing as it sees the original, actual, Leonard Nimoy Spock shows up from the future and creates a new timeline, thus giving the characters free reign to break continuity and meaning that they could potentially still be killed off.

So yeah, it's far from perfect, but I really enjoyed it and I suppose I forgive J.J. Abrams for Cloverfield although it's going to take another few good films before I start to think of him as a good director. It's not quite as good as The Wrath of Khan or The Voyage Home, but I think I enjoyed it more. I suppose it's just commendable for maintaining the original show's feel whilst upping the ante to a big-ass blockbuster.

Personal enjoyment: 8/10

Actual quality as a film: 8/10

Time After Time (1979,  PG)
Time After Time
A movie in which H.G. Wells travels through time to the present (well, 1979) in persuit of Jack the Ripper starring Malcolm McDowell as H.G. himself. What's not to love?
It's great fun. Not hugely original -it's a pretty standard fish-out-of-water comedy, but hell. Malcolm McDowell + time travel + Jack the Ripper = brilliant.

The Fairly OddParents in: Channel Chasers (,  Unrated)
The Fairly OddParents in: Channel Chasers
Hilarious, the parodies are spot on, the animation is suprisingly quite beautiful and it's actually got a very good, strong plot. Easily the best thing to come from The Fairly OddParents.

The Time Machine (1960,  G)
The Time Machine
A great effort considering it's age. Whilst it somewhat loses it's way towards the end, it's a very solid film exploring some cool areas of sci-fi.

Time Masters (Les Maîtres du temps) (1982,  Unrated)
Time Masters (Les Maîtres du temps)
Rene Laloux's next film after The Fantastic Planet. It's not as deep or thought-provoking but it's a lot more enjoyable, partly due to much better animation (though I should point out, it is still very cheap and basic stuff).
It's still very good sci-fi and although it's much more suited to children than The Fantastic Planet, again, I'd say it's a film made with adults in mind more than children.
A big plot point at the end leaves a few boarderline plot-holes and so the film almost felt like Rene just had a cool idea he wanted to cram in the film, but this might be because I've seen another film do a similar twist and that film did it better. Still, worth checking out if you're a fan of animation or science fiction.

Actual quality as a film: 7/10

Meet the Robinsons
Good fun. Not really much more than a glorified Saturday morning cartoon, but hey, there's nothing wrong with that.
