Fight Club (1999,  R)
Fight Club 5.0 Stars
My review for this was pretty weak when I first watched it, so this is my second review attempt. Although I think it will not justify the content of this film. This is Edward Norton's best performance in my opinion. And i'd just like to say I loved Rounders and thought he was amazing in it and i've seen American History X and I loved that even more but this film just tops them all. Whatever I write will never be anywhere near enough. This is a must see film for everyone, no arguements. It doesn't matter if you are against fighting or not. Either way watch this film. I've never been a fan of Brad Pitt but he is amazing in this film no doubt about it. The plot is just perfect and I don't think it could be anymore perfect. One of my favorite films of all time and it should be your's as well.

Pulp Fiction (1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction 5.0 Stars
What a classic film. It was like a benchmark for films make in the 90s. I don't know quite why but I always prefered Resevoir Dogs. Still, it's definatly one of my favorite films. I like the odd structure of the film which really hadn't been done on such a big level before. All the characters are just amazing and I like that none of them seem to stand out too much when it comes to main characters. I suppose it would really come down to Bruce Willis' character or John Travolta's character. I also like that Vincent dies halfway through. I read that Tarantino wanted that to happen at the end but the studio wouldn't let him kill the character so he changed it so he would die but still be alive at the end. I love the pairing of Vincent and Samuel L. Jackson's character. They work together well and the characters work together well. Tarantino really kick started Travolta's career after a bit of a dry spell. Although Christopher Walken only has one scene I have to mention him because it really is one of his best performances and such a memorable scene. The dialogue is just amazing and something that Tarantino does so well. This film is quoted and paradoid all the time. That really shows its impact on modern cinema. Definatly a film to see before you die.

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King 4.5 Stars
My favorite of all the Lord of the Rings films. I can't excatly sum up why, I guess it's lots of little things. One would be that it ends the series really well. It doesn't matter how good films are but if the series is ended by a crap film then the rest suck as well. This one was really good. Another would be that the acting is all fantastic. Elijah Wood is excellent as always as Frodo. I love Dominic Monaghan anyway but I love him extra in this. Viggo Mortensen is outstanding and deserves credit for this. Orlando Bloom is brilliant as always. The film as a whole is just excellent and I don't think I need to recommend it because not only is it obvious you have to see it but it would be pointless to see the other two then not watch this one. Only a stupid person would do that and i'm pretty sure if you're reading my review then you're far from stupid.

GoodFellas (1990,  R)
GoodFellas 5.0 Stars
My previous review for this film was pathetic considering how much i love it. This film was at the very top of Total Film's 100 best movies (Check out my movie lists). This is the pinacle of gangster movies and every other Genre of film as well. The cast is fantastic. Robert De Niro - what can I say, the guy is an amazing actor and this is one of his best films. I'd say his second best film after the Godfather 2 personally. Ray Liotta is a brilliant actor and in my opinion this is his best film. Joe Pesci is an extreamly funny guy and in this film it is no different. One of his best film also. The plot is fantastic. I don't think I could say anything bad about this movie. It really is one of the best and people will be watching it for years to come. Personally I think that 1990 was a great year for film making. This film proves it. You'd be mad not to want to see this film, seriously.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring 4.0 Stars
It's not my favorite of all the Lord of the Rings films but it is decent nonetheless. All the performances are great. I love watching Dominic Monaghan in action because I love the way he acts. He's excellently cast as his character as well. Elijah Wood is brilliant as always. I think Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen work well together in these films for some reason. They always give a great performance. The plot is great and although i've never read the books i've heard that it does it a lot of justice. Obviously it's a must see film and one of the best films of 2002.

Thought I would rereview this film after just hearing that Roy Scheider has died. Such a shame as he was a great actor and this film proves it. An excellent performance from all the actors involved. I love Richard Dreyfuss and he's brilliant in this. It's a simple concept but it works so well. It's hard tomark out Steven Spielberg's films from each other as they are all so good but this one really has to be one of the best without a doubt. Definatly one to see if you've not already.

Loved it. Fantastic film. The ending was just amazing. I personally didn't see it coming. And they got me twice. I thought it was just about to end when they spring you with the second ending. Simply beautiful piece of writing. Kevin Spacey was fantastic. Benicio del Toro - Well it has to be one of his best performances. Stephen Baldwin really surprised me. I've never thought highly of any of the Baldwin brothers but he did a wonderful job. I still can't get over the ending though. Didn't see it coming at all. This is a must see film for all film buffs no matter what your taste is.

The best in the trilogy. The plot is brilliant. The whole idea of it really makes you think. I even asked myself once what if this is actually happening. Who knows? The acting from Keanu Reeves is excellent. Laurence Fishburne gives a great performance as well. The fight scenes are some of the best from any film and even those scenes are must sees. This is a must see film for everyone even if you're not into SciFi films you're bound to love this one.

I demand to know why i've not seen this film before. This is a brilliant film and if you've not seen it then I strongly suggest that you go out and figure out some way of watching it, whether its renting, buying or borrowing it makes no difference but it really is a great injustice to yourself if you don't. A must see film for everyone. This movie proves that Brad Pitt can act from now on I don't want to hear anyone bad mouthing the guy. Even I had my doubts but after seeing this movie I have no proof to back it up. Morgan Freeman is fantastic as usual. I wouldn't expect anything less from him. Gwyneth Paltrow is average. She doesn't play a huge part so I wasn't expecting much from her. Kevin Spacey is outstanding. I really have a lot of respect for him. He's definatly one of my top 10 favorite actors and its performances like this that give me reason to like him so much. I don't think i've seen one of his films that I didn't love. So, what are you waiting for, go watch this film now if you haven't already.

The Godfather, Part II (1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II 5.0 Stars
Probably the best sequal ever. I would say i would rate both films exactly the same. Neither better than the other. Yet another masterpiece from Francis Ford Coppola. Al Pacino's performance was outstanding as per usual. Robert De Niro was awesome as usual. I could not say anything bad about this film. Definatly one of my top ten favorites of all time. And i've seen quite a few movies. This one is in a league of its own along with the first Godfather film. This film has only one fault and that is the missing pressence of Marlon Brando RIP. Thats the only thing that sets the first one appart from this. But this is still amazing in another way. Anyway I could sing this movies praises all day if i wanted to but i think i'll stop now. For your sake.

Stunning performance from him and Joaquin Phoenix. The plot is just brilliant. Tragic and beautiful. The ending is just beyond words. It's definatly a must see film.

Amazing film. The cast is just unbelievable. Usually certain actors stand out in a film but I found all of the actors fighting for attention on the screen. Each dominating different parts in different ways but spectacularly. Bruce Willis' performance was flawless as usual. Benico Del Toro's performance was outstanding. Eliiah Wood was fantastic. Clive Owen was great. Jessica Alba was brilliant. Josh Hartnett, one of his best performances. Mickey Rourke was fantastic. I've never been a fan of Brittany Murphy but her performance was pretty good. I don't think i have anything bad to say about this film. Only good. I love the comic book style. The black and white with vivid colours was amazing. The effects fantastic. I could sing this movies praises all day but I think I better stop now.

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers 4.0 Stars
Not my favorite of the Lord of the Rings series but still a very good film. Peter Jackson does an excellent job with the directing and the acting is of a very high standard from all the actors. Orlando Bloom always impresses me in these films for some reason. Elijah Wood does a great job as well. I have to mention Dominic Monaghan as well. I don't know what it is about him, I just think he's a brilliant actor. This character was perfect for him and I can't wait until he's given more film roles so we can get to see his full potential. Sean Astin and Viggo Mortensen do a great job as well. Brilliant performance from Ian McKellen as always. There really isn't much to complain about with this film. I guess I just prefer the other two a little more because the plot is stronger, other than that there isn't much in it. A must see series of films.

L.A. Confidential (1997,  R)
L.A. Confidential 5.0 Stars
A brilliant piece of filmmaking. I don't quite know where to start with my review. James Ellroy said after writing the book that he wrote it so that is would be impossible to turn into a film. Maybe that's the reason this film is so excellent. It's very complicated and there are lots of things going on all at the same time. I think fully understanding the film only comes at the very end and even then for most it may require a second viewing before everything will completely fall into place. There are a few things that make this film what it is and the most important would probably be the performances from the three main detectives; Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce. I loved that all the characters are clearly defined and set out with very different personalities which is also very important in the case of the film as a whole because it's complicated enough without adding more things to work out in your head. Kevin Spacey plays Jack Vincennes, the egotistical and vain character that has his fingers in a lot of pies. It really is a stunning performance from him and it's yet another performance that proves Spacey really is an excellent actor. Russell Crows plays Bud White. His character is a bit of a brute but he cares at the same time and is underestimated by the other officers. Also another star performance from him, which led to many great films. And the third detective is played by Guy Pearce. I have to say that this is a great cast but at the time of the movies release it wasn't because Pearce was unknown. And I think, although it is difficult to choose, he is the star of the film. He plays Ed Exley who is a sqeaky clean done by the book detective. I always found my eye drawn to Pearce throughout the film and to be honest it's him that I would have handed the Oscar to, not Kim Basinger. Her performance was alright but by no means the best in the film. It's an excellently planned and beautiful film that boarders on noir because of certain characteristics but without the brainlessness of noir. Definatly a must see.

Die Hard has to be the ultimate action movie ever. None other even comes close to this kind of entertainment. I've seen a fair few of Bruce Willis' films and I have to say this is probably the best. Loved it. Has to be one of the best Batman films. All the others had a sort of comedy feel to them but this one is definatly more serious which makes it a whole lot more enjoyable. Christian Bale's performance is brilliant as always. Katie Holmes didn't impress me but I wasn't expecting her to. Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor and in this film it is no different. Such an amazing film about an amazing man. I think this story would have been a real challenge for Steven Spielberg because of how important this man is to a lot of people. He really had to do him justice. And he did. A wonderful portrayale of a man that just wanted to help people. Probably the best true story ever. They either tend to be good or rubbish but this one exceeded good it is excellent. It's a must see film, no question. I doesn't matter what kind of films you like, you'd find it hard not to enjoy this even though it lasts such a long time it just grips you.

Heat (1995,  R)

Thought it was about time I reviewed this film since i've seen it a few times since I first rated it. As you probably already know this is an excellent film. I don't think a combination of actors could get any better than Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. Separately they are both extremely brilliant actors and two of the best currently in the game, together however the on screen show is out of this world. But I don'[t think I need to state that two many times as anyone with half a brain could predict that. Val Kilmer is a nice addition to the background as well. This is one of his best performances as well. The plot is gripping and thrilling and doesn't stop until that very last second. Right up until the end your left wondering which direction the film is going to take. And finally, at the climax of the film you're left wondering who is going to come out of the conflict alive. Michael Mann does a really great job of directing the whole thing and I think this could possibly be the peak of his career.Of course we're still waiting for Public Enemies to be released but that is going to have to be bloody brilliant to have a chance at topping this.

I think Alan Cumming is the best addition as he really is an excellent actor and his character fits in really well with the group of x-men. Hugh Jackman is just as great and it's brilliant that you get to know more about his character in this film. The acting is just as great as before and the plot is too. They are both must see films.

Léon (The Professional) (1994,  R)
Léon (The Professional) 5.0 Stars
Wonderfully thrilling film from Luc Besson. Everything about this film is just excellent. If your after a film to be utterly entertained by without it being brainless then this is the film for you. Jean Reno gives such a brilliant performance. He plays the caring and beautiful character Leon. Throughout the film he gives you the impression that he's simple and naive but at the same time being completely aware of everything. He's a very complicated character that is a pleasure to watch. I like the way there is nothing glamorous about his livestyle. There are many films that make out the hitman livestyle is glamorous but this film doesn't. He lives a simple life with a plant that he loves more than anything else on the planet. Natalie Portman's first role and to be frank I really feel sorry for her. It must be horrible as an actress to peak so soon in your career and never meet that point again. This proves she is a very capible actress but so far she hasn't had the chance to show that talent since this film. But I have to say the star of this film would have to be Gary Oldman. He plays a bent copper who is a drug addict and racketer. His performance is just utterly mindblowing. He does this thing where he splits open the capsule, swollows the powder and does this hit reaction that is just so weird and brilliant. His character is literally psychotic. This really is Oldman at his best. He also devilvers the best Fuck line at the end of the film ever. The relationship between Jean Reno's character and Natalie Portman's character have a very odd relationship which throughtout the film makes you intentially uncomfortable. The exchange of names in the beginning of the film makes you feel the same has Leon who blows his milk all over his face. That is what you'll do if you're drinking when her line is delivered. The ending of the film is great and i'm not going to say too much about it because I don't want to ruin it for those of you that haven't seen it but it really is excellent. It's a must see film that comes highly recommended not just by me.

Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now 5.0 Stars
I watched Apocalypse Now quite a while ago but I refused to rate and review it until I had seen Redux as well. I finally got a copy so I can now review it. I think the best place to start would be right at the beginning of the film. The very first shot where it fades in and you see all these palm trees. Then you get the ominous sound of helicopter blades in slow motion. A helicopter flies by and then without warning the trees are blown up. I think my exact words were fucking hell. I think that shot sums up the whole film as one big shock and unexpected series of events that gradually just get more and more outrageous. It also sets up the theme of insanity very well as Martin Sheen awakes to realise that his dream of helicopter blades were only that of the ceiling fan. Extremely powerful opening to the film that is probably one of the best ever.

James Stewart is just brilliant and I don't think I would expect anything less from him because he's a brilliant actor. Henry Travers is excellent as the guardian angel.
