The Saddest Music in the World (2004,  R)
The Saddest Music in the World 5.0 Stars
It's like a multicultural Canadian Idol with musicians from all over the world... Or emo musicians from all over the world. They want to prove they are the saddest musicians or the most talented musicians for creating sad music. There is a very romantic vision of art in this movie. The art vision from the characters in the movie is very naive.
The history is very complex and creative... It's almost gothic. The cinematography is very artistic. The symbolism is present. Everything is perfect in this movie. It's one of the best Canadian movie of all time.

Ravenous (1999,  R)
Ravenous 4.0 Stars
"Ravenous" is probably one the the most underrated movie of all time.

This movie is a drama exploiting the myth of the Wendigo and has entertaining values.

What makes the movie interesting is that it uses a myth to depict a rather pessimistic portrait of the United States. Cannibalism is used as a symbolic during all the movie which means the United States always acted the same. So "Ravenous" is still actual in its portrait of the U.S.A.

Robert Carlyle is awesome in this movie. He is funny and very scary. The soundtrack is also very good, it's a part of the movie.

Cube (1997,  R)
Cube 4.5 Stars
"Cube" is one of the best science-fiction movie of all time. The plot is very original and very creative. It's possible to write a movie based on a good concept. Yes, "Cube" is a concept. "Phonebooth" was too but "Cube" succeeded where "Phonebooth" failed.

Phantom of the Paradise 3.5 Stars
The most interesting adaptation of the classic Phantom of the Opera. De Palma's visual style makes this movie a very strange one.

The Beach (2000,  R)
The Beach 3.5 Stars
A movie about Utopia.

Happyness is possible on a short period. Utupia is attractive but is impossible.

This movie exposes the making of the "utopia" but also how it fails. You can see the different stages the characters go through.

It's an underrated movie.

One of the weirdest and most creative comedy I have seen. As much as I dislike The Pink Panther, I really like the combinaison of Sellers and Edwards in The Party.

The Last Supper (1996,  R)
The Last Supper 4.0 Stars
A dark comedy about lefties killing people having different political opinions than them.

The movie is very simple, but it makes you think about something very important. Is it more "moral" to be a lefty?
