Silent Hill (2006,  R)
Silent Hill
Video Game movie makers, take note. This is how it's done.
2
Resident Evil (2002,  R)
Resident Evil
One of the few good video game adaptations out there. Great atmosphere, solid cast and the Licker looked really good and creepy.
3
Mortal Kombat (1995,  PG-13)
Mortal Kombat
You know you love it. This is the most faithful video game adaption yet and it's still alot of fun.
4
Doom (2005,  R)
Doom
Takes a lot of ideas from Aliens and Event Horizon, but I found myself enjoying it just as much as those films. It's a lot of fun.
5
The Super Mario Bros. (1990,  PG)
The Super Mario Bros.
A guilty pleasure. It's stupid but fun.
6
DOA: Dead or Alive (2007,  PG-13)
DOA: Dead or Alive
It's a very dumb movie....very dumb. But it's got enough energy and fun to keep me entertained. Did mention this movie was dumb?
7
Max Payne (2008,  PG-13)
Max Payne
Max Payne is a movie I was looking forward to, due to its great cast and amazing trailers that were put out. I was really hoping that this would be the video game movie to finally break into mainstream and capture a larger than just the gaming community and be more than just flash and style. Unfortunately, its not. But the movie is not a total loss.

Max Payne is the story of a detective whose wife and baby were killed and has been searching for the killer for three years and now he thinks he has found a lead from a drug called Valkyr developed by Aesir corporation, the company his wife worked for. The drug was originally tested as a sort of super soldier drug, and while it makes some people invulnerable to pain it also causes insanity and nightmarish hallucinations. While on the trail of his family?s murder, his partner is killed and gains the aid of a beautiful assassin named Mona Sax. This is one of the few video game movies that actually faithful to its source material.

First off the script is awful, there is hardly any dialog in the movie and when there is dialog, it?s pretty bad. This is a problem that plagues most video game movies and something that really needs to stop. These writers need to take these movies more seriously. Another thing is that while the game focused on action, the focus on this is a detective story, and a pretty boring one at that.

What the movie gets right is the cinematography, it?s downright gorgeous! This may not be much, but it?s the best I?ve seen in a video game movie adaptation. It?s the one thing that?s absolutely perfect in this movie. It also a very good film noir look to the whole thing and maybe if this had a better script, this could have been something special. While the action doesn?t come until the last third of the movie, what is there is pretty cool, especially the scene where Max Payne runs from the security of the Aesir Corporation. The slow motion shots are pretty lame however. There?s a scene where a goon has a rifle with scope aimed at Max Payne in super slow motion Max Payne falls backwards and fire a shotgun blast at him. It too slow and unintentially hilarious. What?s even dumber is that the shots fired at Max Payne (which were lined up by a scope I remind you) hit vials of the Valkyr drug 5 feet to the side of him. How bad of a shot can you be to miss by that much!

The addition of the Valkyrie angels a part of the drug side effect was a nice addition and its creative changes like that, that are welcome in translation one source material to the other.

The acting is decent, even though I felt that Mila Kunis was miscast a Mona Sax. Speaking of which at the end of the movie her character just disappears in the middle of an action sequence and she isn?t head from again. The ending is also unsatisfying; the movie eventually just gives up on itself.

The movie was a great disappointment. This game had great source material to draw inspiration from and it should not have ended up with a script this lame.

Resident Evil - Apocalypse (2004,  R)
Resident Evil - Apocalypse
Much weaker than the first. But hey, as a fan a fan of the games, I loved seeing Nemesis. It's not good, but it has its moments of entertainment.
9
Lara Croft - Tomb Raider (2001,  PG-13)
10
Hitman (2007,  R)
Hitman
Nothing truly awful about it, but nothing really good either. Timothy Olyphant was completely miscast as Agent 47.
11
Lara Croft Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life (2003,  PG-13)
12
Street Fighter (1994,  PG-13)
Street Fighter
This movie is no doubt terrible, but it gets an extra star for making me laugh.
13
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007,  R)
Resident Evil: Extinction
Filled with cheap scares and underused characters. Why bring in Wesker and Claire if your not going to use them to their full potential. The Tyrant(who is Dr. Isaacs) was also a let down (and why did he talk, deliver cheesy lines and wear pants!). There is also no ending. What happens to Claire, Wesker, Umbrella, and the rest of the world? Coming from a fan of the first two installments and the entire game series...this movie sucks.
14
Wing Commander (1999,  PG-13)
15
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2006,  PG-13)
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
Congratulations Mr. Boll on your best movie to date! Way to reach for the stars!

Seriously this movie was so terrible that the ending just gave up on itself. The special effects and action were dull and boring, the sets looked worse than a Xena episode, and the script was even worse. Dr. Boll, it's time to give it up.
16
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009,  PG-13)
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
This movie is all sorts of terrible. The acting is horrible (especially from Chris Klien), the fights scenes range from mediocre to awful, the script is laughable and the directing stinks. Justin Marks, never write again. It's worse than the original Street Fighter.
17
Bloodrayne (2006,  R)
Bloodrayne
An incredibly awful movie where absolutely nothing works. Another half-assed movie by Uwe Boll.
18
House of the Dead (2003,  R)
House of the Dead
Painfully godawful piece of shit with award winning dialogue like "This book looks pretty old maybe it can help us."
19
House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim (All Guts No Glory) (2006,  R)
House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim (All Guts No Glory)
It's not an improvement! It sucks as much as the first one.
20
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997,  PG-13)
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
It's like nobody even tried on this one. James Remar was laughable as Raiden.
21
Alone in the Dark (2005,  R)
Alone in the Dark
Taste that. That's right it's 100% Pure crap. Tara Ried as a Museum curator is just laughable.
22
Double Dragon (1994,  PG-13)
Double Dragon
The movie is garbage. The acting is terrible, the action is stupid (Though Mark Dacascos is okay) and I've never seen a character so miscast as Robert Patrick in this movie. Because when you think Koga Shuko, you think Robert Patrick! I've never played the game, but I heard it has nothing to with the game franchise. Just as bad as any Uwe Boll film. One the plus side, Alyssa Milano is extremely sexy in this film.
23
Metal Gear Solid (2012,  Unrated)

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010,  PG-13)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
It's got a great cast and a good director, but the game creators are working the writers, hopefully this will be something excellent.
