I saw this at the theatres with my little nephews and will have to rank this up with Cars, Lion King and Ratattouile as one of my fav. |

Surf's Up (2007, PG)
A great surfer and live your dream animated movie. Cody Maverick, a teenage penguin, wants to learn how to surf and ends up learning a more valuable lesson than just riding the waves. I love the documentary style of the movie, making this animation different than the Pixar/Disney big name features. The camera angles also make the viewer feel like you are part of the movie, Great special effects and soundtrack make this movie fun for everyone. |

Over all I liked the movie, I liked the way all the main characters from the orginal TV series are introduced. Just like most movies which try to cram years of character development from the tv series and the 10 movies into one "prequel", there will be many things missed or not be according to the "official" guidelines of Rodenberry's original ideas. I didn't like the storyline with Bana's character and in my opinion, the writters could have come up with a more interesting story and plot. The young versions of the crew played by famous actors bring out the characteristics and traits from the original crew. If you are a Star Trek fan, this is an good movie not a great movie but overall a fun movie to watch. The sfx and sound is great... can't wait to watch this on home system when it's out on blu-ray. |
