Carve Her Name with Pride
This movie is simply amazing. It tells the story of a London shopgirl called Violette Bushell whose normal life changes drastically when her husband, who is a French soldier, gets killed in action. Violette shows great bravery and courage.

The acting is amazing especially Virginia McKenna and Billie Whitelaw.

The Life That I Have

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

Get your tissues ready.

Just watched it.....again! My favourite movie ever. This film was amazing and it had an amazing cast.

I loved every single character, every single one. The relationships in this movie were the most real i have ever seen in a film, you really believe that the Owens family were all really related. Sally and Gilly were both so different but so equally likeable and the aunts were just adorable.

As soon as the film started i knew it would make a big impact on my life. It is so easy to watch,i can have it playing on my tv all day long without getting bored.

The soundtrack is also great,i have it on cd.

My favourite bit is when Sally runs from her gardening to kiss Michael and also i love it when they jump on the roof at the end, excellent!

The Hills Have Eyes (2006,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes
The Hills Have Eyes is a great horror movie with lots of disturbing tension. This movie is my idea of horror perfection. I love the storyline and the character development,i really do care about the family and want them to survive. In one scene i actually burst out crying,my emotions felt like they were on a rollercoaster. I sat on the edge of my seat, wanting to cover my eyes but not wanting to miss anything.

Aaron Stanfords character was so hot in this movie,he got hotter as the movie when on and by the end of the movie he was on fire.

This is one remake that is ten times better than the original (in my opinion).

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Testament (1983,  PG)
Testament
Testament is a story told through the eyes of a housewive/mother trying to cope and take care of her family after a nuclear attack. The movie begins quite slowly letting us get to know what the family is like. After the attack the mother keeps a journal and we see several scenes from happier days played on a projector in the mothers memory. Besides from two bright flashes of light this movie offers no other special effects but it does show us emotional devastation, suffering, personal loss and heartbreak in a realistic and believable manner. Quite a few scenes brought tears to my eyes and i think i am in need of a feel good film.

Prayers for Bobby (2009,  Unrated)
Prayers for Bobby
Prayers For Bobby is the true story of Mary Griffith a gay rights crusader whose own teenage son committed suicide because she refused to accept his homosexuality.

This is a very touching and moving movie,i cried almost all the way through the second half. The movie shows the struggles that young gay and lesbian people go through. Unlike other movies that deal with the same subject this movie did not hold back at all. When Bobby comes out to his parents and siblings his mother Mary who is very religious refuses to accept that he is gay,she loathes gay people and thinks they are sinners who will go to Hell so she attempts to "cure" Bobby, she uses several methods including fixing him up with a girl, sending him for therapy and leaving memos around the family home that have quotes from the Bible on.

The final scene was so beautiful that i could not stop crying,i felt very proud of all my friends who have faced this kind of ignorance and prejudice. I strongly recommend this movie to any parent who is unaccepting of their sons or daughters sexuality, please love your child for who they are before its too late.

Wow i loved it. It was beautiful and stunning to watch. It made me feel very emotional, the bond between Drover,Sarah and Nullah was lovely to watch. The story was brilliant, the main characters were likeable and the baddies were very unlikeable, infact they were vile. I also loved all The Wizard of Oz touches. Easily one of the best movies i have seen so far this year.

The Life Before Her Eyes
Wow i really enjoyed this! Great performances from Evan and Uma. It made me very weepy, the shooting scenes gave me chills down my back, they were done very realistically.

I dont want to give too much away but the only thing that ruined this movie for me was that i worked the movie out after about 15 minutes,my husband didnt though he was totally surprised by the ending.

Passengers is a good movie with a good cast,i love Dianne Wiest but i wasnt sure what i was watching.....was it supernatural or a drama or a thriller? When things started to become clear i cried.....quite a bit. It was very sad and lovely.

Marley & Me (2008,  PG)
Marley & Me
I would like to see it but i avoided the book because someone told me it was sad and i hate sad dog movies because they make me cry so even though i would like to see it i probably wont.

Update - i just noticed that Jennifer Aniston is in this movie and as much as i loved her in Friends i really can not stand her in anything else so i certainly will NOT be watching this movie.

Recommended by DrLappos.

Update Number 2 - Recently i am really enjoying all the movies i think look crappy and not liking the movies i am expecting to love.

Well Marley and Me was a brilliant movie. It was very moving. I cried and cried and cried and cried and cried and then cried a bit more. Jennifer Aniston was good (for a change) but she was very Rachel like (no change here). It skips from very funny to very sad and back again so get your tissues ready!

The Duchess
Recommended by ascmoviegirl6 and JDFortuneFan.

"I do not doubt it; he is a dreamer like yourself. You both dream of another world that does not exist, and never will."

The Duchess is one of the best period dramas i have ever seen. The characters and storyline are both very interesting and the costumes are to die for. The love story between G and Charles Grey was real and heartbreaking, whilst the relationship between G and her husband The Duke of Devonshire is cruel and twisted.

The Duchess was a pleasure to watch - the wealth, the locations, the gowns and the acting was great, the only bad thing about this movie was it made me cry and cry and cry. When it ended i felt very emotional and just sat there weeping.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas)
Recommended by princessqtpl and NickCoalNoir.

Having cried my eyes out at The Duchess this was probably not a wise choice for my next movie to watch. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas was not what i was expecting, for starters i guessed it was a subtitled movie when infact most of the cast were British and spoke like Eastenders extras.

I do not want to give too much away about the movie but its pulls on your heart, its an amazing example of how innocent young children are and how they view the world around them. This movie made me COL - cry out loud.

Nights in Rodanthe (2008,  PG-13)
Nights in Rodanthe
Nights In Rodanthe was a lovely chilled out relaxing movie. Nice to watch whilst snuggled up on the sofa on a dark Autumn night. The inn is charming and quaint,i wouldnt mind spending a few nights there myself with some good food and a bottle of wine. Its based on a book by Nicolas Sparkes so you know what to expect and yes i did cry,not buckets but i did shed a few tears.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter (2008,  G)
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
I really want to read the book now. I had no idea that The Memory Keepers Daughter had been made into a movie and i almost missed it infact i missed the first 20 minutes or so and only started watching once the baby girl Phoebe had been given away to the nurse, luckily i had sneakily read the start of the book at work whilst working on the book department so i knew what had happened. I was instantly drawn into the movie,i love it when that happens. It was a great film but very very sad.
