1
Die Hard (1988,  R)
Die Hard
Top ten action flick that helped define the eighties for me.
2
Home Alone (1990,  PG)
Home Alone
It never ceases to amaze me how someone who was so cute at 8 looks like a serial killer as an adult but then some people say the same of me. LOL Great movie, some of the best slapstick since the 3 Stooges.
3
Jingle All the Way (1997,  PG)
Jingle All the Way
Better than Santa With Muscles. Plus it's great to watch the late great Phil Hartman doing what he did best.
4
Gremlins (1984,  PG)
Gremlins
Nothing like little green homicidal monsters to put you in the Christmas spirit.
5
Meet Me In St. Louis (1944,  Unrated)
Meet Me In St. Louis
Garlands performance is breathtaking, the sentiment is laid on thick, and the songs are iconic and so goddamn catchy you can't get them out of your head. Clang clang clang went the trolley ding ding ding went the bell ARGH!
6
Batman Returns (1992,  PG-13)
Batman Returns
Michelle Pfeiffer made a damn good catwoman, the rest of the movie sucks donkeyballs.
7
Trading Places (1983,  R)
Trading Places
Two comedic giants at the top of their game plus it's directed by John Landis. Wow.
8
Hogfather (2007,  Unrated)
Hogfather
Maybe a little long and slightly confusing to the average viewer but pure heaven for us fans who've waited a long time for the discworld to appear on film.
9
Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas (1977,  Unrated)
Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas
All hail the Riverbottom Nightmare Band! Before Fraggle Rock Jim Henson and the CBC teamed up to bring us this 70s gem, which explains why the otter in the yellow hat sounds like one of the Mackenzie brothers. Good Day Eh.
10
Elf (2003,  PG)
Elf
"You sit on a throne of lies" Elf manages to be original, funny and endearing in a non-sickening way which is rare for holiday movies as of late.
11
Babes in Toyland (1961,  Unrated)
Babes in Toyland
This was Disneys first live action musical so they didn't have the formula perfected yet. The first half drags a bit and most of the songs are forgettable but the second half's worth the wait if you're willing to invest the time.
12
I'll Be Home for Christmas (1998,  PG)
I'll Be Home for Christmas
I'm a sucker for christmas movies as well as road movies and here we have both hence my generous rating.
13
Holiday Inn (1942,  Unrated)
Holiday Inn
Anything with Bing and/or Astaire is classic and this is no exception. The song White Christmas alone earns it's esteemed place in movie history. The blackface routine makes for awkward viewing tho.
14
The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas (1996,  Unrated)
The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas
Actually way better than i thought possible.
15
Santa With Muscles (1997,  PG)
Santa With Muscles
Hulk Hogan flexes his acting skills in this holiday treat that goes down better with a few eggnogs. ADDED BONUS: Two That 70s Show actors and Clint Howard are in it.
16
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (1999,  Unrated)
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas
What can i say i'm a sucker for mickey, donald and the goof.
17
Trapped in Paradise (1994,  PG-13)
Trapped in Paradise
A little flat but the great cast make it work.
18
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992,  PG)
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Ok the idea of same thing happening the very next year involving the same two criminals is utterly preposterous. But what the hell, it's an opportunity to watch Pesci and Stern get the living shit kicked outta them again and that's always fun to watch. Guess I'm something of a sadist.
19
Christmas with the Kranks (2004,  PG)
Christmas with the Kranks
Not the greatest movie ever made, but i like it a little bit more each year. Just watching Cheech Marin and Jake Busey playing cops is very amusing within itself.
20
Surviving Christmas (2004,  PG-13)
Surviving Christmas
Everybody else has christmas movies so why not The Fleckster. He and Gandolfini are fun to watch together.
21
The Bells of St. Mary's (1945,  Unrated)
The Bells of St. Mary's
Bing and Bergman in a flick about a priest and a nun that's a little preachy at times (pun intended) but it's such a feel good movie it's hard not to like.
22
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992,  G)
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Great muppet excursion which isn't hurt by the fact that the lead actor is Michael Caine; an actor so talented he can make friggin puppets believable.
23
Miracle on 34th Street (1947,  Unrated)
Miracle on 34th Street
A highly entertaining christmas classic that manages to be touching without being preachy or mushy.
24
Richie Rich's Christmas Wish (1998,  G)
Richie Rich's Christmas Wish
It actually hits closer to the mark than big budgeted first installment, but that's not saying much. Mindless kids movie with good with good turns by Levy and Mull.
25
All I Want for Christmas (1991,  G)
All I Want for Christmas
Misleading poster art leads you to believe this is a whimsical comedy starring Leslie Nielson when in fact it is melodramatic dribble about divorce and Nielsons only in a couple scenes.
26
Bah Humduck!: A Looney Tunes Christmas (2006,  Unrated)
Bah Humduck!: A Looney Tunes Christmas
Argh! I am getting so tired of cartoon adaptations of A Christmas Carol. Enough already!
27
The Happy Elf (2005,  Unrated)
The Happy Elf
The song by Harry Connick Jr. was an instant classic, the special based on it needs some time to ferment.
28
Santa Claus - The Movie (1985,  PG)
Santa Claus - The Movie
The first half's pretty good but the second half gets a little too 80s.
29
I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown (2003,  Unrated)
I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown
Of course it could never hold up to the classic first Charlie Brown special, but more time to spend with Charlie, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and the gang is always welcome at my house.
30
The Santa Clause (1994,  PG)
The Santa Clause
A modern christmas classic and still Tim Allens best movie.
31
The Santa Clause 2 - The Mrs. Clause (2002,  G)
The Santa Clause 2 - The Mrs. Clause
I like it alot better the second time I watched it, and consider it a classic now.
32
Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights (2002,  PG-13)
Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights
Adam Sandler has got to be the biggest product placement whore in history. I'm suprised he still manages to talk he's got so much corporate dick in his mouth. That aside this movies watchable, it has some alright songs and and shit jokes are always appreciated he just needs write some new jokes and stop re-using the old ones.
33
Santa Who? (2000,  Unrated)
Santa Who?
Not too bad for a disney made in canada for tv christmas movie.
34
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006,  G)
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause
While it's obvious the series is running out of gas, i still enjoyed this sequel. The blundered attempt by Martin Short's(who's canadian btw) character to disguise the north pole as canada is hilarious especially if you're canadian. The "it's a wonderful life" ending was uninspired tho.
35
Frosty Returns (1992,  Unrated)
Frosty Returns
Great voice work by a talented cast and the animation has a interesting retro schoolhouse rock feel to it. Somehow somewhere it just falls flat on it's face.
36
Funny Farm (1988,  PG)
Funny Farm
Lamb Fries anyone? Chevy doing what he does best, playing a loveable idealistic goof-ball fish-out-of-water. This is a comedy classic that is even funnier if you're from a back-water town like I am.
37
Benji's Very Own Christmas Story (1983,  G)
Benji's Very Own Christmas Story
Not really a benji escapade the dog doesn't even do anything, seriously it doesn't even move. The real star is ron moody who gives us one of the most unintentionally creepy santa's ever.
38
White Christmas (1954,  Unrated)
White Christmas
Friggin classic, if given a chance i would totally spend christmas with bing and danny kaye partying it up at a lodge in vermont. Ah hells yeah!
39
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989,  PG-13)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
I love this movie, it's my favourite holiday movies. I guess it's because I have a soft spot for good ol' Clark "Sparky" Griswold and watching it every christmas is like getting together with an old friend for eggnog and lambfries. Hallelujah! Holy Shit!
40
Strawberry Shortcake - Berry, Merry Christmas (2003,  G)
Strawberry Shortcake - Berry, Merry Christmas
What can i say, it was on and i was too lazy to change the channel.
41
Scrooged (1988,  PG-13)
Scrooged
A modern (eighties) re-telling of a Dickens classic had a huge potential to suck, need I remind u of Great Expectations, but Bill Murray not only makes it work he makes it awesome.
42
Three Wise Guys (2005,  Unrated)
Three Wise Guys
A decent quality cast including Tom Arnold, Judd Nelson, Katey Sagal and the one and only Roddy Piper keep this tv movie above water, but just barely.
43
Jack Frost (1979,  Unrated)
Jack Frost
One of the later Rankin/Bass specials, it maintained the charm that made it's predesessors so endearing.
44
A Miser Brothers' Christmas (2008,  PG)
A Miser Brothers' Christmas
An obvious cashgrab by warner bros to capitalize on the popularity of the misers that's not too bad. I liked that they used two of the original voice actors, it's a nice touch. Oddly the animation style makes you feel like you're watching robot chicken without the jokes.
45
Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983,  G)
Mickey's Christmas Carol
The only adaptation of A Christmas Carol that doesn't scare the bejesus out of my 2 year old son.
46
The Nightmare Before Christmas (2008,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Great movie, too bad it's fans can sometimes be almost as annoying as star wars nerds.
47
Christmas in Connecticut (1945,  Unrated)
Christmas in Connecticut
I dig it, it's kinda like an episode of Three's Company without the sex jokes.
48
Scooby-Doo - Winter Wonderdog (2002,  Unrated)
Scooby-Doo - Winter Wonderdog
One christmas themed episode and a bunch of classic episodes that aren't really.
49
The Polar Express (2004,  G)
The Polar Express
Stunning visuals which look like they were directly inspired by Norman Rockwell hilight this christmas tale. The somber atmosphere makes it seem a little slow paced at times but it grows on u the second time around. My only complaint is that the Steven Tyler cameo is out of place and unnecessary. PLUS Eddie Deezen the man the legend provides the voice of the annoying kid.
50
Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out) (1980,  R)
Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out)
It's a grindhouse christmas movie, what else can i say. LOOK FOR: the mom from Home Improvement bitchslapping some poor child.
51
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964,  PG)
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
On Christmas eve after you've had a few eggnogs this movie is a hoot. On its own its great, the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version is even better.
52
Rudolph & Frosty's Christmas in July (1979,  Unrated)
53
The Little Drummer Boy (1968,  Unrated)
54
It's a Wonderful Life (1946,  Unrated)
It's a Wonderful Life
What can I say about this beloved classic that hasn't already been said a million times. Believe the hype, this film is one of the greats.
55
Rudolph's Shiny New Year (1976,  G)
56
Tom and Jerry: Paws for a Holiday (2004,  Unrated)
57
