Dawn of the Dead (2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
While I am a true fan of the classics and despise remakes, this was a great movie in its own right. The idea of having running zombies certainly terrifies and defies the standard zombie code. The director picked a great cast, all though I could have done without the Russian girl and gansta.

Dawn of the Dead (1979,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
This has to be hands done one of the best zombie films to date. The directors cut is a great version of the film to check out for true gore hounds and Romero fans. The sheer creepiness and meaning behind the film is enough to put it into the higher ranks of the genre.

Dawn of the Living Dead (2006,  Unrated)
Dawn of the Living Dead
This movie was not really advertised all that much and I can certainly see why. It is pretty mediocre bu todays standards and offers no real horror. The zombies when they finally make an appearance are good but by the time they make their debut you'll most likely be asleep.
4
Night of the Living Dead (1968,  Unrated)
Night of the Living Dead
Anyone who is anyone has stayed up as kids and watched this gem. Even as old as this film is, it still offers scares to generations to come. Stick with the original film and stay away from the anniversary editions.
5
Night of the Living Dead (1990,  R)
Night of the Living Dead
This film to me didn't catch the same element as the original but this version is based on the original script the cast wanted to use. The zombies background were a nice touch but it seemed to lack that claustrophobic feel of the first one.
6
Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006,  R)
Night of the Living Dead 3D
The main focus on this movie for me was Sid Haig. I met him last year and he really is a super nice guy. After hearing he was going to be in this movie I decided to give it a chance. They decided to give it a more "modern" approach but to me it was more of a stereotype. The zombies looked very good and the story shed a little more light on the zombies origins.
7
Fido (2006,  R)
Fido
Now how many people would jump at the chance to have a flesh eating zombie as a pet? Heck I would, until that nifty little collar broke and he started gnawing on my leg while I was asleep. This movie is the zombie version of Lassie and certainly has the markings to become a classic.

Zombi 2 (Zombie) (Zombie Flesh Eaters) (Zombie 2: The Dead are Among Us)(Island of the Flesh-Eaters) (1980,  R)
Zombi 2 (Zombie) (Zombie Flesh Eaters) (Zombie 2: The Dead are Among Us)(Island of the Flesh-Eaters)
This is one the best classic examples of true Italian gore and horror. The zombies are gruesome and immediately strike fear into the actors as well as the audience. This flick even has a scene of a zombie fighting a shark! Classic film!

Severed: Forest of the Dead (2006,  R)
Severed: Forest of the Dead
This movie had tons of potential to be a really good zombie film. The make up and effects were done fairly well but the movie seem to move rather slowly. There really wasn't a climax or anything earth-shattering. This is a decent film to check out if you have seen just about everything there is to see and want to kill some time.
17
Dance of the Dead (2008,  R)
18
Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (Plane Dead) (2007,  Unrated)

The Quick and the Undead (2006,  Unrated)

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie(Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti)(Don't Open the Window) (1974,  R)
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie(Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti)(Don't Open the Window)
This is a great film and fairly hard to find even on DVD. I bought an old VHS copy and then quickly secured the tin box set when it launched. The story flows pretty smoothly and has a nice plot twist in the end of the film. The zombies seem to have super human strength and can recruit other dead folk simply by touching them. The plot was certainly original and this is certainly worthy of being in a zombie fans collection.

Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetery Man) (Demons '95) (Of Death, of Love) (1996,  R)

The Video Dead (1987,  R)
The Video Dead
I remember watching this movie on late night creature feature films and though to myself, "Wow how scary would that be for zombies to come out of my television set!?!" After watching this movie I was hoping they would, and be more exciting than the movie. The concept was truly original but no real gore scenes made it feel like a made for TV Halloween special.
28
Garden of the Dead (Tomb of the Undead) (1974,  PG)
Garden of the Dead (Tomb of the Undead)
This movie has a certain campiness to it that I can't quit put my finger on. The story is pretty boring for the most part but tends to pick up at the end of the film. The zombie make up is the usual slap some white Halloween paint and black eye shadow. I have still yet to figure out how huffing formaldehyde can bring the dead back to life......
