Plot:
A prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter's journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe.
It's fairly done, though there are flaws on the plot and settings for the pre-historic era. Its just a fictional film anyway so i can say that it's a must see movie this year.
Fails to live up to the hype. Prehistory aficionados may be able to sit through the whole 1.9 hours, but I certainly couldn't.
The strong special effects and some good battle sequences cannot make up for this shallow, empty excuse of a film. Horrible writing which leads to bad dialogue, an annoying narrator that had no business being in this type of film and not to mention the Hollywood ending that slaps the audience in the face, what a load of crap.
Well, this could have been so good, but it was not.The actors were too smooth and too young for believability, the plot was really thin, and it takes more than a leap of imagination to buy the various events throughout. Such as: barbarians of indeterminable origin coming from far, far away to a tiny settlement way up north just to capture a few slaves, the fact that these northerners were surrounded by snow virtually all the time yet still dressed in fur loinclothes and perhaps a vest at most, the way a mammoth would gallop it would break all its bones (picture an elephant on Animal Planet running instead, the directors of this movie did not), the main characters walked on foot from icy mountains (Europe? Atlas mountains? Turkey?) all the way into north east Africa (did I mention on foot??), the mammoths building the pyramids, a sabre tooth the size of an ice cream truck. Oh yeah, replace the ancient egyptians with a surviving Atlantis cult And so much more. Now couple this with the shiny actors and below par performance, and you have 90 minutes of your life you'll never get back. One star for some nice effects.
a rather strange and fantastic movie about a young man feeling wronged and his journey to manhood. The love of a woman takes him, his mentor, a boy and a reluctant companion onto a long journey over snow-covered mountains, through dense forrests right into the desert full of pre-historic dangers and monsters. The individual performances are noteworthy although the movie itself is somewhat confusing and far fetched.

There is a great review of this movie by two old school Hollywood veterans who are smart and funny. Check it out on YouTube

isnt accurate....?
hu cares its a great movie...!
ur talkin tru ur rear end....!
lol
Stop complaining that this "wasn't" or "isn't"accurate. That's what the history channel is for!
Movies are suppossed to take you other places.Places you could never dream of.It's supposed to be fun and entertaining!10,00 B.C. does that. I would never have been able to see the first farmers,or how the pyramids "could" have been built.Movies are all about the directors interpretation, just like a painting is an artists. You don't have to like the movie, but don't ruin it for other people.
Frankly, I don't care if this isn't "historically" accurate, like some people say.are you guys History professors?
I'm pretty sure Roland Emmerich didn't just one day say," Lets make a movie that is set in ancient times completely full of action, drama, hot new up-and-coming young actors, completely full of BS,and make it a Blockbuster hit." No people. He didn't.He made The Day After Tomorrow. He takes his work very seriously. The only thing that he said wasn't accurate in an HBO inside look was the raptor birds. They wanted something cool and to cause a thrill so they added them.Though if you look it up the raptor birds were only one era beofore when our 10,00 B.C. movie says they are ,so why wouldn't they may have survived and adapted in that little area? There is a temple underwater off the island of Yonaguni that is said to have been built before the last ice age,or before 10,000 B.C.. Anything is possible people.Scientist are still learning everyday about our history.
LOL.
It seems nowadays movies are being made just to be made without thought or substance, just to take advantage of the current technology in CGI effects.
Woolly Mammoths, in the desert mind you, helping to build pyramids which didn't exist until around 2600 B.C.
WTF!
They might as well have had a Brontosaurus helping to build the Library of Alexandria and Nazis helping in the construction of the Berlin Wall. Hope you see where I'm going with this.
Now if this had been History Of The World Part II by Mel Brooks then we'd have something here.
I have no desire to see this as it appears to be nothing more than eye candy, much like 300 was.
Oh, BTW, what language are the characters speaking? I'm guessing perfect English just like in 300.
