Wow, was this a waste of time, energy and money. I do rely on movies to have a degree of historical accuracy - what bothers me is that some people will take this as truth.

Besides the acting, which was astonishingly bad.

And the poster had nothing to do with anything.

and the two leads seemed awfully clean and beautiful for such rough times.

and... well, I could go on forever like this. But mostly it was just plain BAD.

    Con't.
raptor birds surviving the ice age?Lady give your head a shake. This movie takes place in the ice age mountins,The tropical jungle,& in Egypt. What?near cave people with english accents?Oh & culturally diverse people..all in the same region,& villains that strangley resemble Arabs (US War on terror)I can forgive historic inaccuracies if the plot were more original, but I can't forgive plagerism.Too many obvious scenes from other movies: The Ten commandments,300, Clan of the Cave bear, Jurasic Park,Appocalypto,to name just a few. This movie took me to a different place, & that place was the Gong show. ANYONE WHO HASN'T VIEW THIS MOVIE:DON'T.Save your money for a better movie.Sure go on leave history to the professors and the thinking public,& leave cheezy movies like this shiny, yet empty attenmpt at a blockbuster epic to the air heads.I can do slap stick,I can handle cheeze just not in this saturation. These up & comers eh?..up & comers as guest stars on celeb squares,& Surreal Life

Sessyranger, & SuperRed, I am not talking through my rear end, I think it is important look at the over all quality of the movie. Any given movie should contain a mix of the following ingredients: ORIGINALITY, a good plot, and some degree of logic, & yes, entertainment value plays a key role. When there is cheesy, & blantantly obvious plagerized sections from a variety of movies, a movie then becomes a formula. successful movie + successful movie= SUPER SUCCESSFUL MOVIE..we the buying public then become pons, blind, mindless sheep, fish biting at the shiny thing being shown to us. I won't let that happen to me. I stand by my review. Sessyranger, I don't think you are one to dictate who is talking through their rear ends, since it seems as though you can barely spell.Trying to make us critical thinkers seem intellectually insufficient holds less water when you can't spell. SuperRed, your arguments have some valid points, however it appears to me that you have given into sensationalism

Lambs to the slaughter....just follow the sheep.
Don't label something even remotely close to Earth history if you're going to shred it to nothing but fantasy or pure speculation.
Dramatic license is one thing but films like this should be given their proper place in the bargain basket.
Why don't we make a movie called The Holocaust and have the French exterminating the Geramns while the French have already conquered most of the world.
Same principle and a damn funny one, yet scary at the same time.
The sky's the limit on you're imagination and in the gutter on your intelligence.

Stop complaining that this "wasn't" or "isn't"accurate. That's what the history channel is for!
Movies are suppossed to take you other places.Places you could never dream of.It's supposed to be fun and entertaining!10,00 B.C. does that. I would never have been able to see the first farmers,or how the pyramids "could" have been built.Movies are all about the directors interpretation, just like a painting is an artists. You don't have to like the movie, but don't ruin it for other people.

Frankly, I don't care if this isn't "historically" accurate, like some people say.are you guys History professors?
I'm pretty sure Roland Emmerich didn't just one day say," Lets make a movie that is set in ancient times completely full of action, drama, hot new up-and-coming young actors, completely full of BS,and make it a Blockbuster hit." No people. He didn't.He made The Day After Tomorrow. He takes his work very seriously. The only thing that he said wasn't accurate in an HBO inside look was the raptor birds. They wanted something cool and to cause a thrill so they added them.Though if you look it up the raptor birds were only one era beofore when our 10,00 B.C. movie says they are ,so why wouldn't they may have survived and adapted in that little area? There is a temple underwater off the island of Yonaguni that is said to have been built before the last ice age,or before 10,000 B.C.. Anything is possible people.Scientist are still learning everyday about our history.

Those Mammoths were no where to be found in Deserts, & they were not used to built Pyramids, & Pyramids were not existed till 2500 BC,this Movie's making History up side down..... XD

    LOL.
It seems nowadays movies are being made just to be made without thought or substance, just to take advantage of the current technology in CGI effects.
Woolly Mammoths, in the desert mind you, helping to build pyramids which didn't exist until around 2600 B.C.
    WTF!
They might as well have had a Brontosaurus helping to build the Library of Alexandria and Nazis helping in the construction of the Berlin Wall. Hope you see where I'm going with this.
Now if this had been History Of The World Part II by Mel Brooks then we'd have something here.
I have no desire to see this as it appears to be nothing more than eye candy, much like 300 was.
Oh, BTW, what language are the characters speaking? I'm guessing perfect English just like in 300.

Wow, the people who say this movie is bad because of its historical inaccuracies are a breed of their own. Educated, huh? This is a movie. It's meant to entertain us and bring us to a place we can never be. So what if there are epic man-made structures mixed in with prehistoric animals? It adds to the ambiance of the movie. If you want to watch a two hour movie about how cavemen ran away from large predators, then go ahead. And those of you who rated the movie without even watching it need be quiet and not voice their "opinions." You are saturating the board with useless comments. I'm still stoked to see how this movie turned out.

Speak on it Zembie, give Cynthia what for. I totally agree, your examples an analogies are perfect. If we pay for our food, we should have opinions, the whole purpose of eating out is to have someone make one quality food or food at least is pleasurable to the palate. The same can be said for movies, I can complain because I paid to see a great movie, and it was lackluster. Hmm, I may not have been on the crew, but I stand by my review. For those of you that say it's good to draw from other movies, I agree, use other movies for inspiration, but not in blatant imitation. That makes you an unoriginal person, and your product will be unoriginal and already done. Sloppy seconds essentially....10,000 BS, I mean bc, had so much potential.

Ok. effects were ok, but this bastardized attempt at creating a block buster epic have failed. 10,000, tries to combine several plots that are blantantley obvious. Clan of the Cavebear, 300, Jurassic Park, The 10 commandments, Braveheart are some of the movies which 10,000 borrows pieces of their plots. In doing so I found it cheezy. To Start off with The Medicine woman of this cave man tribe, believes that this blue eyed girl is special, almost a messiah, (very much in the vain of "Clan of the Cave bear" The acting is poor, and even when as children a love story emerges between the 2 main characters. Which to me is channeling the inner Brave Heart, see William Walace and his child hood love. Eventually there has to be an enevitable rise in action, and the four legged demons, come and raid the village, which this part in the movie is borrowed from the wonderful Gibson film "Apocalypto" and These men (who strangely resemble Arabs, or middle eastern men[see USA, war on terror] and they steal many people from the cave village. I thought it was strange that cave men or men coming shortly after the cave men speak in an English accent? doesn't matter what part of the world people come from, if they are the good guys in an epic, they have to speak with English accents, even if they are cave people. The lead character now is on a journey to save the love of his life the Blue eyed girl, and he walks and he walks, through the icey mountains, into tropical jungle, and they are being hunted by raptor like birds and they he encounters these dangerous birds, and his love drives him on. GONG. He then arrives in this imaginary desert city, strangley it looks Egyptian, blantantly Egyptian. complete with Slaves, and pyramid building. He see's the social unrest and starts a revolution among the slaves, (kind of the Ten commandments) and Pharaoh says the slaves are free. In 300 fashion, the main character throws a spear with deadly accuracy (from what seems to be a mile away) and l

So... if you're not a movie-maker, you're not entitled to think a movie sucks?!? Is that what you're saying Cynthia? What if you go into a resturant and the chef turns out to be a miserable cook. Can't you complaint about the food if you're not a chef yourself?
If you think the movie is good, then great. I'm glad you enjoyed it. But don't write other peoples opinions off as crap, just because they're not in a production team. Thats just lame.
