not bad. Could be written better. The scene where vincent was talking about being in the ally towards the end was weak, and shot poorly. And Val Kilmer's role in the movie was pointless, just add a name to the credits.
nothing imaginative... and im not gonna watch it again anytime soon. its good to see though that after your husband dies you fuck a ex marine 3 weeks later and let him buy a jelly doughnut for your kid!?
Awesome crime movie. I loved it. I though it was messed up how they would just shoot people while in public. I love James Marsden. Sad that he got shot, but glad he lived.
The best gangster film in recent year's. It's Goodfellas meets Donnie Brasco. A stylish, complex, hard-hitting and electrifying movie. A pure knockout. Director, Bobby Moresco has crafted an insightful, powerful, tense, terifficly told and unforgettable crime drama. The cast is amasing. James Marsden is magnificent. Giovanni Ribisi is outstanding, his best performance yet. I love how these actors embrassed these roles and it shows in their performances. Searing, engaging, gripping and astonishing. Brilliant, riveting and extroadinary. An explosive action-packed story that grabs you and dosent let go. A truimph. It sets the screen on fire with great power and energy.
Based on the true-life.
February, 1991. Tommy, a Desert Storm marine dismayed that the US isn't taking out Saddam, breaks some rules and faces hard labor. An FBI agent offers him an out: go home to his gritty, dockside home in Pennsylvania and help get the goods on an Italian heroine dealer; in return, no prison time and no arrest of Tommy's brother Vincent and cousin Joey. Loyalty to family conflicts with loyalty to the code of the street. Can Tommy sort it out, protect his brother and cousin, and stay true? Do young men die - in the sands of the Middle East and on the mean streets of the US - for no reason?
Interesting storyline and characters. Some actors seemed miscast and others really played their parts. A good film to watch on a rainy day... For free.
I thought this was best mob movie ive seen in awhile, and i loved all of it, it really surprised including the acting from everybody. Ribisi stole the show but i was very impressed by Marsden( idont think 2 highly of his acting usually) and i thought Renfro was excellent. I think this movie was great.
A decent crime drama that is well directed and has solid performances by its cast but unfortunately I've seen it all before and better. Watchable but it won't change your life.
This seems quite popular with the critics but i thought it was awful. One reviewer summed it up nicely as: "Employs every mafia cliche out there and fails to establish an identity of their own". Sums it up for me
a wannabe gangster film about wannabe gangsters. unfortunately, the irony isn't enjoyable. James Marsden as a South Philly Italiano?! puh-leeeze.
Piper is cute but has nothing to work with. best.cameo.ever: Tommy Lee Ribisi is decent and the honorable mention (laughable) cameo goes to Val Kilmer.
The script was not great, but the actors did the best with what they were handed. I found it odd that Dennis Hopper and Val Kilmer had maybe five minutes of on screen time. It was an interesting look at the mafia during the time of Ruggierrio, but it could have been better.
this is actually a really good movie about a group of friends who were childhood buddies and how the street 10th and wolf had turning points for all of them. it is a very entertaining film.
Pretty decent movie, Giovanni Ribisi is pretty good in it, though i've seen better mob movies. This one is pretty predictible... Still I enjoyed it a little.
Definitely not scorsese, but still an entertaining mob film. There's alot of over-acting going on what with all the screaming and all, but it actually helps the movie out. Even if the filmmakers were trying to be real serious, it doesn't matter because it's fun to watch at times.
One thing that was a bit too stupid was the presence of a grenade at the end, that made this film drop a half star for me.
Look for Val Kilmer's cameo, it's very amusing and also all the Crown Royal references. It was kind of random how they drank it and requested it a few times. That drink is considered high class for the middle class I suppose, but I would imagine mobsters could afford to spring for something in a higher price range.
Iv'e been wanting to see this for ages and i gota say it was worth it,for those of you who enjoyed The Departed & Donnie Brasco you'll most likley enjoy this one .
It's based on the true story of Joseph D.Pistone (Donnie Brasco)obviously not as in depth as the other movie, but still a remarkable story with a great cast performances.
Not a particularly special mob movie. It's good. But it's the same old plot and conventions rewound and mashed up. Entertaining enough but not spectacular or legendary like say, Goodfellas.
A surprisingly good movie. I have been wanting to see this movie for a while know but never got to seeing it. The movie is very entertaining and interesting. I can honestly say that it is almost as good as the original movie Donnie Brasco. The acting by Ribisi is great, he really gets into his role extremely well. James Mardsen did good as well but could have shown more emotion in some scenes. The story will keep you glued to the screen. One of the things that i loved about the movie is that they would show how Desert Storm affected the people of that time, especially the people who were there. The ending is kind of unrealistic and maybe that kept me from giving it the full rating, but the movie is great even with the ending. You shouldn't miss this one!
I'm not usually a fan of mobster movies, as they're generally so predictable, and even though 10th & Wolf's plot wasn't all that original, the characters and the acting made me fall in love with it the first time I saw it, even though almost everybody else hates it. Well, I have a penchant for liking "bad" movies.
