"I wish, I wish we could see into the future sometimes.
    That's the problem, isn't it?
I mean, life - it only makes sense when you look at it backwards.
Too bad we gotta live it forwards."

The story runs a bit slow from part to part but the overall story, the theme of the film was quite interesting. If you have 2 hours to waste, definitely see this film.

not bad but not astounding, if this movie were in grade school i'd give it a R for 'room for improvement', i will say that alan arkin and john turturro were fantastic

Very well done. The movie takes place in middle New York. It takes us through the lives of four different people that have a story that all connects to the other persons missing piece. We realize how much we take for granted at our highest times as well as our lowest times.

To think that "No country for old man" took an Oscar and movies like this one are usually unnoticed just just get me mad.

But anyway, what the hell an Oscar mean? for me they have never been a standard for good movies, just an excuse for a hellish parade and the bloody red carpet.

This movie is so underrated... Jill Sprecher did a great job showing complexities of humanity in such a variety of characters and then weave their stories together so flawlessly. Brilliant. Also, Clea DuVall and Matthew McConaughey actings were great, as always.

Pretty good, and a decent cast including some of my favorites. Even better, Matthew McConaughey in a decent role that's not at all The Wedding Planner/How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days/Failure to Launchesque ad nauseam.

It's sort of a commentary on happiness, and one where none of the characters are connected at the beginning, but as it progresses, things begin to make more sense.

Alan Arkin and Clea DuVall are good as always.

The subplot with John Turturro doesn't interest me in the least and seems to be added, at least mostly, for one real reason.

Still, something you shouldn;t miss, but one you very well may have,

The movie can be boring ar times and yes it's a bit pretencious but you know what you won't really give a f*ck watching 13 Conversations About One Thing. Cause the magic of this movie is that it's intelligent, it's funny and has some terrific acting from the always superb Alan Arkin and John Turturro. As well as a surprisly good turn from Matthew McConaughey. It isn't perfect but life isn't ethier

This movie closely foreshadowed my own personal life. I thought that the themes of the movie were adult and very worthy of frank discussion. However, most of the audience viewing the film were unwilling to discuss the themes. I believe that they thought their own self-serving middle class life would never come crashing down. As luck would have it, they have been promoted and gotten big raises. But the main question is what exactly do we owe our friends who become disabled or unemployed? If they cannot earn an income, are they worthy of our moral support? And, are they still worth being our friends if they cannot support our self centered lives? An extremely powerful film. Unlike any other.

Reeaaaally depressing, but uplifting in another sense. I really enjoyed this film - the way their lives all cross and how they all affect each other is very clever.

Extremely well acted and put together - very clever, subtle links between the different storylines. I do, however, worry about the person who wrote this as their outlook on life seems quite bleak!

Despite lots of dialogue, this movie is very enjoyable. Some great acting and conservative yet thoughtful plot make it quite sensational to watch.

As I said this week in my review of Crash, I like movies with interlocking stories, so there were moments of this I really liked. I loved the connections, I loved the fact that it moved backwards in time, and I loved the quotes used from the movie as section titles. I even liked (although not loved) most of the stories. But the dialogue... oh, man. The dialogue in several sections of the movie made me wince. NO ONE talks like that! Also, it was one of the bleakest movies I've seen in a long time. Even the stories that end up happy don't feel happy. I don't have a problem with unhappy necessarily, but this left me incredibly depressed. Too bad, because it had some wonderful moments.

A great script and wonderful performances (especially from Clea DuVall) make this one work very well.

"I once knew a happy man. His happiness was a curse." An intimate, and thought-provoking look at events of different characters whose stories all interweave, proving that life can be cold and unpredictable. "I can never go back" It shows how one mistake can effect your life and the life of others forever. It brings across emotions we can emphasise into our own lives, for example the "happy man", a person who never lets anything take the smile off his face, who always looks on the bright side of life. Everyone knows at least one person like that.

I love movies that combine several different storylines that somehow coincide with one another...like Magnolia, Requiem for a Dream and Crash.

Fairly intellectual diatribe on 'happiness', one of those big meshes of different storylines and characters, which even eerily comes full-circle in a kind of never-ending karmic loop. The happy characters end up happy, the sad characters end up sad. Is this a message? It was interesting, yeah. Not maybe completely up to its potential.

So much irony in a single movie, wow... A must-see. A powerful and poignant look about urban lives interconnecting.

not bad. a little on the boring side but it was cleverly written. it seemed like it tried to be too profound for its own good but it was a good effort. i also didn't really appreciate mcounahey (sp?) performance.

Very good. The kind of movie I've always wanted to see. Completely seperate stories intertwining, not unlike but far superior to Magnolia.

I own this movie. It was good. But I haven't seen it in a while. And i think I just had my wisdom teeth removed when I saw it so I was high off T3's. I just remember liking it.
