Thirteen-year-old Jenna (Shana Dowdeswell) has had enough with the trials of adolescence. In addition to being saddled with a devoted-but-nerdy best friend, Matt (Sean Marquette), she falls victim to one of the dangers of playing Seven Minutes in Heaven with the coolest kids in school: being stranded without a willing make-out partner. Humiliated, Jenna buries herself in the aforementioned make-out closet, wishing she could skip the whole adolescence bit and move straight into adulthood, and miraculously wakes up just weeks away from her 30th birthday. Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Like Hanks in Big, and Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday, Jennifer Garner is funny and endearing ..."
‑ Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper
"A film whose far-fetched foundation is overshadowed by the endearing story."
‑ Sara Gebhardt, Washington Post
"Touching and hilarious Jennifer Garner romcom."
‑ Nell Minow, Common Sense Media
"The sheer predictability of the plot means it doesn't really stand up to the scrutiny of anyone older than 15."
‑ Amber Wilkinson, Eye for Film
"While [it's] the Keystone Light of Vice Versa movies, it also annoyingly adds itself to the ever-growing list of movies that think being kitschy about the 1980s is funny."
‑ Eric Melin, Lawrence.com
"No question: 13 Going on 30 could have aimed higher, but it hits the target at which it carefully points."
‑ Robert Denerstein, Denver Rocky Mountain News
"If 13 Going on 30 isn't exactly original, it's still reasonably cool, thanks to Garner's uninhibited portrayal of a nerd trapped in a Sex and the City body, and to the inspired casting of Mark Ruffalo as the grown-up Matt."
‑ Ann Hornaday, Washington Post
"Jennifer Garner breaks character by forgetting that she's playing an awkward 13-year-old girl in a 30-year-old woman's body in this girly comedy"
‑ Cole Smithey, ColeSmithey.com
"A radiant woman looking like she's having the time of her life makes up for a lot of inconsistencies."
‑ Rob Gonsalves, eFilmCritic.com
"Alias superspy Jennifer Garner makes the most of her first starring role and discovers that love -- and navigating adult life -- really is a battlefield."
‑ Betsy Bozdech, Hollywood.com
"Like a petulant 13-year-old, I'm still pouting over my disappointment."
‑ Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com
"A lot fresher than its premise, largely because of the terrific casting."
‑ Peter Howell, Toronto Star
"Naive as its young heroine, but also as good-natured. [Blu-ray]"
‑ Peter Canavese, Groucho Reviews
"A rehash of familiar material, but the engaging Garner is charismatic enough to make it magical."
‑ Kam Williams, Princeton Town Topics
"Hypocritically smears the very mascara it wears."
‑ Nick Schager, Lessons of Darkness
