Fotografia maravilhosa. Roteiro encantador. O tema interpretado pela cantora Marianne Faithfull é o ponto alto do filme. De negativo apenas a voz da personagem da atriz Vanessa Paradis que é profundamente irritante.
Why is it that I love tragic characters so much? Fantastic film, beautifully composed and incredibly engaging.
a dark fantasy about love and luck; it's funny, sexy and wildly romantic. my new favorite 'chick flick.' i didn't like the ending at first but that's just the cynic in me. gorgeous black and white cinematography and lovely soundtrack
This is a great movie. A very touching story of Adele, a sad young woman with a uncontrollable tendency to run away with men who inevitably hurt her, and Gabor, a knife thrower with a sorrowful past. Filmed in black and white, The Girl on the Bridge is beautiful, but its narrative is just as engaging as its' images.
The adventures of Adele and Gabor are consistently quirky and entertaining. As they move from one locale to the next, they encounter a variety of distinctive individuals, including a contortionist, a decadent newlywed, and a woman who had previously been Gabor's assistant and lover. For anyone who realizes how happy sadness can be, the movie is a sure shot.![]()
This movie haunts me like few others have. It really got under my skin.
I would have to credit the beautiful B/W cinematography, the excellent acting by Auteuil (one of my favorites) who imbues just the right amount of world-weary melancholy into his character, and the direction that really creates some tense moments.
The two characters are mesmerizing. They move through life almost purposelessly, creating a claustrophobic relationship that pulses with latent desire when they stumble into each other. It's fascinating to watch them struggle with attraction, as if they have been disappointed so many times before that they don't even want to take a chance at happiness. Or, if they do seek happiness, are jaded enough not to want to seek it through romance. The film delves into what it means to be alive at the most basic level, through the risks that they take and the rewards they cannot help but still desire.
It's a beautiful film that I wish would be released in DVD format!
Beautiful. Generates massive eroticism without direct sexuality, but the trust between the trust between a knife-thrower and his assistant. Outstanding black & white cinematography.
My favorite romantic comedy of all time has the greatest non-sexual love-making scene in all of cinema.
Black and white. That`s the right color for the movie. About two people who lost there way and were depressed. And how they found what they were looking for. It`s an amazing connection that they have, they talk to each other being in diffrent places (even without a phone:))) It` seems unreal but i know how people connect and how they can really feel each other even being far away.
I thought this was a great film. I liked the way the two characters got to know each other. The dialogue was funny and well done for its type of movie. I wish more movies like these would be shown in any local theater besides just indie theaters. I think it would give over people a chance to see others movies from others parts of the world.
I like the fact that this film was shot in black and white, I think that when foriegn films are shot that why it makes them different and stand out from all the others. I often get boerd of the same old american dramas that seem to all thell tha same old story of a couple that meets and falls in love.
I want to see the other side of the world. How they make their movies, and what their stories are about. This one was different. Two people meet that are both suicidal and both have very bad luck. But once they finally meet and get to know each other their luck turns around for the best and they have good luck whenever they are with each other.
The knife thrower needs a new target and Adele becomes his new target. Adele is never hit by the knifes besides some scraches because of their luck. When they are seperated there is no longer luck between them, the knife throwers show no longer exsists and he starts to actally hit his targets.
But when apart they can speak to each other as if they were speaking by phone, but they talk out loud as if by person. I found that interesting because i've never really seen it done that way before in a film. But after all i found it to be rather short, it all seemed so fastly paste, but i enjoyed watching it none the less
Incroyable. Vanessa Paradis est une très grande actrice et même Daniel Auteuil est presque bon. Réalisation remarquable, on veut voir la fin. C'est fou comme j'aimerais vivre une histoire comme celle-là.
hey buoty i'm ayaad from egypt i hope to make afriend with u & my e.mail's romio.haty.jolit@hotmail.com
I love the dialogue of this film, the film itself perfectly blends beautiful imagery with effortlessly funny scenes.
"law of attraction" power of will? this is a great movie to take a close look to sincronicity and tha power of words
A very interesting film, I liked the fact that it was shot in black and white - nice and arty and French
Several friends have this on their favorites list, and Sabina has put up an intriguing video scene. I must see this.
One of my all-time favourites. Vanessa Paradis is stunning, Daniel Auteuil is great, and I love Patrice Leconte's works. I'm a huge fan of Paradis (and Johnny Depp, of course) in general, and this film was such a treat. It's totally not the mainstream Hollywood stuff people are used to. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
it might sounded simple enough- a man saved a girl from the blink of suicide and together go onto a journey of discoveries and loves..... but its SOOOOO much more than that! a prefect romance story yet with enough depth and smart little details to make you think just that little bit more, and the scene with soundtrack 'who willtake my breathe away' is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! you should watch it even just for that scene alone! trust me, you not gonna be disappointed.... ^^
This is a charming little film from Patrice Leconte which is driven by an innovative script and bolstered by some fantastic black and white cinematography. Paradis and Auteuil produce a genuine on-screen chemistry and their eccentric relationship is given spark by some witty dialogue. Whilst the themes of luck, love and destiny are similar to the ones explored in films like Amélie, this film is a more mature and composed piece of work in that it feels less "cartoonish".
The subtle tone of the film's romatnticism ensures that the film never becomes too cute and it keeps the sickly naïve moments to a minimum (a bonus for a cynic like me...). Essentially a "chick-flick" at heart but it carries enough Gaelic charm to satisfy both sexes and fans of quirky French cinema alike.
