    2,012 Yawns... I?ve been waiting in anticipation for Roland Emmerich?s 2012. I?ve been watching his other films: The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, 10,000 BC, anyway? I know he has a certain formula: budding love, family, the strength of humanity and the ideals of the righ...( read more)teous and good. The effects were; awesome. But I didn?t care about the characters. Jon Cusack, actually, did a great job. I love Amanda Peet in general, but they had ZERO chemistry. I didn?t believe the ?history? between them. When he asks her if she loves the new surgeon in her life, she replies, ?I love him, enough.? The story line was weak, to say the least. I was so bored and disappointed. I guess my expectations were overly high. He did a much better job of character development in The Day After Tomorrow. I cared about the principles. Woody Harrelson was terrible and annoying. A caricature of Randy Quaid in Independence Day. 2012 reminded me of the disappointing Knowing; Impressive visuals, boring movie.

    i truly enjoyed this movie as it fufilled the purpose of a movie: to entertain!! yes it almost had nothing to do with the mayan predictions except for the date. but that is what i enjoyed about it, it drew many elements from different sources, most evidently the bible. the effect...( read more)s weren;'t that great but at least i had a good time. Not every movie has to be a masterpiece!!! and i enjoyed the cast. i loved woody in zombieland and this role was also a good one

    Well done. Nice special effects. Brings out more awareness with added fantacy. Things will change but I think thye ver dramatized. Well acted and put toghther none the less.

    With a premise as unlikely to happen as Charlie Chaplin returning from the grave--this movie is chock-full of hilarious disparity and preposterous premises. The entire earth's crust displacing and shifting like loose skin on bone? I know, ridiculous! But what the movie lacks in the realm of far-fetched realism; it makes up for making those far-fetched disasters look really amazing.

    The plot here, as with most disaster epics, is wire-thin. But where it really gets punched up is with its special effects. Although not technically a summer release, this movie is definitely intended for those summer blockbuster crowds. It's filled to brim with popcorn-flick antics like amazing chase sequences and giddy, cheesy dialogue.

    But if you put those deficiencies aside, the movie is quite an enjoyable experience. And it is, indeed, a feast for the eyes to see the demise of Los Angeles in an earthquake of biblical proportions. It's also a stitch to see Yosemite become the gargantuan ecological equivalent of a teen's face exploding with acne. A latter storyline involving a tie-in with the bible most famous and industrious senior citizen, Noah, can be seen coming from a mile away--but it still serves its purpose

    All in all, I'd have to recommend this movie based on it technical merits alone. The cast of characters are harmless enough and none of them are grating or annoying to the point where you'd actually want to see them die. Of course, some of them do anyway--but you won't feel too heavily invested in their lives to care. You'll just be prone to munching on your popcorn as the Himalayas get knocked-down a few pegs--and the rest of humanity learns its lesson.

    So the whole will be destoroyed i n 2012 for the exception of Africa; thank God that I am Egyptian. A cool ride with Emmerich`s SFX and CGI that will invite to shut your brain and enjoy watching the world being fucked up. This Russian dude was really cool and managed to get some ...( read more)laughes from the movie audience, Cusack and Peet were nice as well. I liked seeing Danny Glover back to big budget film; he is really a decent actor. Other than that there nothing much to talk about, let`s intentionally forget talking about the plot ok. Try catching it in theatres and enjoy some guilty pleasure.

    Paid full price to see this one, was disappointed in all the hype. Just nothing there. Have seen many movies prior to this one with the same results, The scope of what was covered in this movie was pretty good, but will 2012 be like this, I doubt it.. Woody Harrelson played good...( read more) part was he supposed to be Art Bell??. Funny thing was ending scene when all those who survived came out on to huge Ark Platform. All I saw was white people, what does this say. All in all give it 3 1/2 stars as it could have been much better, but then again, Danny Glover as president? Please! Wait for it in DVD and then rent it. Don't waste money on a buy

    Although the film is about an hour too long, this is a visual orgy. Cusack and Ejiofor keep the film grounded when it could have easily gone completely over the top. Emmerich is smart enough to realize he's great at one thing and one thing only.. and that's destruction. He's not ...( read more)going to win an award anytime soon and he seems pretty damn happy about that.

    My biggest complaint is with the characters. There was way too many of them. Most of them have no arc (pun intended) and are pretty much there just to pull on your heartstrings when they have to make a good-bye call to a loved one (who they haven't spoken to in a while, because EVERY family in this film is dysfunctional.)
